Jhin was once an admired member of the court, his intentions always wavered, but he was loyal to his cause.
He once served as one of the Queen's vigilant assassins, ensuring no danger came her way, it wasn't until a devastating encounter during one of his trials that he felt his world suddenly turn to darkness.
His heart, once full of light and prosperity was now turned to nothing more than a scorched meteorite, the fiery star that once burned in his chest was now cold and empty - a painful reminder of who he once was.
At least, that is what the members of the Cosmic court would tell you.
A once valued and loved member of their reign was nothing more than a husk of his former self; corrupted, disturbed and ruined.
The Dark Star allowed him no mercy, his corruption turned him a devastating shade of mauve, the mask he wore no longer showed a symbol of justice and opulence, it now represented devastation and chaos.
Nobody among the court knew of his demise and they could have never seen it coming, his absence brought confusion and with shame, doubt.
However, by the time he was discovered, it was far too late to save him and thus, Jhin's heart was broken forever.
Queen Ashe ordered her court to let him go, he was so far beyond corruption that Jhin had lost any former memories of his former self, the only thing he maintained was his memories of his former court members which were now tarnished by resentment and hate.
Jhin was no longer the steadfast protector he was born to be, his soul had been infected by the Dark Star like a ravenous parasite and turned him into nothingness.
As much as it pained the Queen and her court, they all agreed with shattered hearts that it was best to forget the vigilant they onced honoured and loved instead of mourning him.
However, with loss came birth, new stars began to set ablaze across the galaxy.
The loss of many valued members of the court brought pain but also hope. In order to destroy the Dark Star and un-do the corruption that cursed her former members, Ashe needed to prepare her allies not only for protection, but war.
The Queen stood in the desolate void that was once full of glimmering stars and pulled back on her bow, the light that powered her soul began to twist and turn around her body, waves of light coiled around her bow and with a powerful shot, bows glided over the night sky.
Sparks and bolts of light began to shine everywhere, the empty void was now a home to thousands of stars.
The Queen shuddered and coughed, she began to feel weak and with a pained moan, she collapsed.
When the Queen arose, she was informed by her right hand that the sky was full of life.
Ashe was not just the queen of the stars, but she was the mother to the stars.
It only took a few days for the first star to form sentient life - they called themselves Hecarim.
A powerful and mighty steed, assigned to take Jhin's former place as her vigilant, he was assigned not only to protect her as her loyal warrior but also as a creator, to spread more light and life throughout the galaxy.
Soon after Hecarim's rising, many others followed; Illaoi, Xin Jhao, Nidalee and Varus.
Each star that was granted life was also granted a role in their lives - their purpose.
In spite of their court growing each day, one little star remained in a catatonic state, hopes for the star to be born were starting to wear thinner and thinner until a distant light began to shine and fade repetitively, the aura of light blue showering the court and coating the vast galaxy.
Hecarim and Lulu were set on course to check on the star, to quell any anxiety that they may be in range with a corrupted star.
The Queen hung her head low, devastated at the thought of one of her children already meeting a destructive fate but it wasn't long before Hecarim and Lulu returned frantically, assuring the queen that her child was not corrupted, but in fact, thriving.
Her name was Nami and as soon as Ashe laid eyes on her, she knew she would be the primary factor in ending this war once and for all.
Nami, the star of destiny.
Strained and furious yelps rang through the darkness of space, the loud clashes against once burning stars were now destroyed, fragments of forgotten life floating in the atmosphere now left to rot.
"Pathetic!" the ghoulish cries belonged to one of the Dark Star, Thresh
The birth of the new stars was not foriegn knowledge to the rest of the galaxy, their light shrouded the universe for weeks on end.
Lights that the dark court knew all too well, it was a sign of retaliation, whether violent or passive, the dark court knew it didn't mean well for their cause.
"That spineless Queen can keep creating more members for her court but soon she will know the true power of the Dark Star!" his screams shattered everything in his way; meteorites exploded, stars disintegrated and galaxies disappeared.
He grimaced and threw his chain once more, howling an ear-shattering crying and destroying everything in his path.
"I'll make her pay!" He cursed, his destruction creating a tension of bad fortune.
A small gathering of dark matter appeared in front of Thresh, they spun until they formed a portal where a masked gunman elegantly walked out, standing in front of Thresh with what could be described as alarm in his eye.
"You requested me, Thresh" he took the opportunity to glance at the environment around him, it was completely desolate and empty, shards of star and rock floated around them and when he made eye contact with Thresh, all he could sense was fury.
"You are aware of what has been going on, haven't you?" he spat back with lack of patience in his tone.
"There were reports of Queen Ashe of the cosmic court birthing new stars into the galaxy" the masked man replied
"Creating more warriors to fight her ridiculous cause, denying her true place in the universe and she thinks she is protecting her people... Foolish! She doesn't know the true meaning of what it means to be a star!" Thresh threw his chain once more and it collided with the atmosphere, creating a powerful bang that sent a shockwave through space.
"This isn't a loss for the Dark Star, the Queen's attempts to create more members of her court have only ensured our success" The masked man sang confidently, although you couldn't see beyond his cold and stoic mask, you could sense an arrogant smile had just crossed his lips.
Thresh looked at his corrupted sibling and growled, if he had eyes they would be turning red.
"Idiot! The more members she creates, our chances of success are null!" He snarled
The masked man scoffed and twiddled his fingers, between his knuckles were burning balls of light, dancing around his finger tips.
"Which means more members to corrupt, no?" He chuckled, his posture in a flamboyantly relaxed state.
Thresh stopped, the galaxy fell unusually silent, he only stared at the masked man - a hopeless, empty stare.
"It wouldn't be hard to do, Thresh, we are the most powerful entities aiding the Dark Star, after all. We will take the court and that pitiful Queen will be left with nothing." The masked man placed one of the burning orbs in his pistol, turning the other way with an effortless levitated spin and firing a shot.
It traveled towards a planet far off in the distance, previously safe from Thresh's destruction but had now met a similar fate, it exploded into dark matter and lingered, scattering like a disease.
An orb returned to him but had now been stained with an inky shade, it replaced the empty space between his knuckles and joined in the dancing routine around his fingers.
"Such an effortless way of showing your real power, destroying galaxies like some easily entertained monkey as if that's the only thing you're capable of" Thresh spat at him
"'Destroying galaxies' is such a… pedestrian interpretation, I paint upon the canvas of eternity" he sang back, taking the opportunity to look at the area surrounding him, his sibling's hypocrisy making it impossible for him to hold back a low chuckle.
"It seems like you have a temper, Thresh, unbefitting of someone as...poetic as you"
Thresh grunted, silently admitting his defeat with slight embarrassment.
"In that case, show me how dedicated you are to the Dark Star"
The masked man scoffed again and folded his arms
"What did you call me here for? To criticise my technique? To question my loyalty? there is no worse critique than the artist himself"
"I want you to assassinate each and everyone of Ashe's new 'beautiful children', you said yourself it wouldn't be difficult" Thresh's haunting jaw curled into a devilish grin
"You want me to corrupt some ignorant star children? Hah, you're really testing my ability here, Thresh" he spat back at him sarcastically.
"We'll see about that...Jhin..." Thresh snickered
The vastness of space seems daunting and isolating but it isn't always such a lonely place.
Sometimes the giggles and cheers of an ambitious star can be heard echoing across the galaxy, the star swarming around the sky rapidly but elegantly, a naive optimism tuning through their laughter.
"Quickly, Vision!" The star yelped, spinning around stable space rocks like an obstacle course.
A small cosmic fish was chasing the star in an effort to play with them, chirping at them as they caught up with their friend.
The star continued to laugh as her friend swarmed around her, booping it's snout into her nose.
"Okay, okay, you win" they playfully admitted in defeat, affectionately gliding their fingers over the fish's body "I wonder where Truth is…"
Just as it was called, another identical fish had appeared and swam up to the star in a burst of excitement.
"There you are! We should get back, Queen Ashe doesn't like it when we're gone for too long."
The star grabbed both of their cold-blooded friends and started to swim across the galaxy, making course for the Cosmic Court.
She glided between meteorites and stars, beginning to feel cautious of the time, they began to feel a tightness in their chest, the same feeling they got when they were getting scolded.
However, this feeling felt… wrong, it wasn't the anxiety of a child awaiting punishment, it was much more sinister than that.
The star stopped suddenly, they felt something burning on their back, something dark and cold.
They slowly turned their head but all that met their vision were the fragments of space rock, the glimmering of thousands of dormant stars and distant planets floating for miles and miles.
The low hum of space reminded them that they were in fact, alone.
The star shook their head and let out a nervous scoff, trying to convince themself there was nothing to be worried about and continued on their way home but despite their attempts at self-reassurance, they couldn't forget that feeling on their back.
"Nami!" An authoritative voice boomed
The star picked up the pace and rushed into the glistening court almost bumping into a feminine figure, their starry tail swishing behind them.
"You're back, thank goodness you're safe" the figure that stood before her was the Queen's devoted right-hand, Lux.
A powerful being that could do more than just control the stars, she had so much power that she was the first in line to take over the throne appointed by The Queen herself.
"Yes, your clarity, I have returned" she responded in a guilty tone
"You must abide by your curfews, Nami, you know how much it upsets The Queen"
Lux always intimidated Nami, who knew such an elegant and gentle spirit could be so strict and demanding…
She knew she meant well and wanted to ensure the safety of her court but sometimes, Nami felt like her life was on lockdown.
She never felt like she experienced freedom as much as the rest of her siblings.
"On that subject, she has requested to see you" The right-hand continued, stepping aside to allow Nami to enter the throne room.
With a heavy sigh, she nodded towards Lux and entered the throne room.
The ceiling reached to the heavens, coated in pale clouds and shrouded glimmers.
The walls and flooring made out of reversed obsidian, instead of being voids of darkness, they glowed like sun, serving as a protective barrier from all things corrupted.
Nami looked up across the room and approached the crystal throne, looking up at her Queen and mother sat up poised looking straight back down at her, her eyes burning into her body.
"Nami, it's a pleasure for you to meet me, please approach" She beckoned her with her commanding voice, causing the little star to shiver.
"Your grace.." Nami bowed
"You have broken curfew three times this moon, need I remind you what we spoke about the last time this happened"
Nami sighed and lowered her head
"My apologies, your grace, it won't happen-"
"You said the same to me last night, Nami" She was interrupted by the Queen's spit of irritation
There was a moment of silence before the Queen let out a defeated sigh and stood up from her throne, gliding down the small steps towards her child.
"I understand your frustration, Nami but I cannot allow anything to happen to you… what if you got lost and hurt? I worry what may happen to you is out of my control" She sighed, placing a gentle handle on the young star's shoulder.
"I want nothing more to protect you, the galaxy is an incredibly dangerous place and your place in the universe is far too important and you're too young to understand the responsibilities that you hold"
"Yes, my queen" Nami's voice was empty and full of defeat, it was the same speech time and time again, she couldn't help but feel her once happy attitude deflate.
Nami was aware of the Dark Star's corruption, the chaos and devastation that they spread across the galaxy.
She was told stories of previous unnamed members of the court that met an untimely fate at the hands of the corrupted.
All she had ever known was a coddled life, the constant reminder that she was too important hung on her shoulders like soaked rags, she felt like she couldn't live life to the fullest.
The Queen reminded everyone of how valued they were to the court, they were all viewed as equals, so Nami always questioned what made her so special.
There was no use asking the Queen or the rest of her siblings why she had to follow so many rules because she would be met with the same answer:
"You're still so young!"
Every time she heard that, she felt her eyes roll back light years away, it was just the same old same excuse.
It felt like everyone was all positively clueless about her place among the court - the reckless child.
"One more chance, Nami and if you break my rules again, you're not allowed to leave court grounds for two moons, do you understand?" The Queen's grip on Nami's shoulder tightened, reminding her that this was another scolding.
She nodded sadly
"Good, run along now, and keep an eye on Pisces" She let her go, turning back to sit on her throne.
Nami moped as she swam out of the room into the foyer.
Once she was safe from being heard, she let out a frustrated groan, upon hearing this, her two fish, Vision and Truth reappeared.
"Oh… I wish she would call you by your names…" She sighed, gently gliding her fingers across their scaley bodies.
"She'll come around eventually, I just need to prove to her that I am grown up!"
She swam across the foyer and giggled with a new found optimism again "That won't be too hard, right?"
