Ok, this is not the big sequel that I was working on for "Brains and Beauty", but it does take place in that AU. When I watched the season finale of "Blue Bloods", which SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET, I wrote this story. I tried to tie in some loose ends, but I will write the "Brains and Beauty" sequel again since I originally had it on my computer, but the motherboard or the fan on my laptop went kaput and I pretty much lost everything on my computer. If you have not read "Brains and Beauty" yet, you might get confused on who Miranda is, so I recommend reading at least the first chapter of that story. Anyway, enjoy!

Miranda taps her pen to the notepad as she is trying to work on Kevin Garnett's Hall of Fame speech as the owner of the Celtics after her father bought the team out and she and Brian Baker, her half-brother, own the team after their father passed away from a heart attack in his sleep and Brian and Miranda were both forced off the NYPD after both of them suffered career ending injuries to be cops, or in Miranda's case, be the Chief of Police.

"How the hell is this hard?" She asked Brian in hers and Erin's apartment.

"I don't know. Good thing you're the one speaking." He said.

"Yes because the media is still having a field day that you're my brother even though it's been years since the news broke."

"I know." Miranda's phone starts ringing from the table and she looks at it then answers the phone.

"Hello?" She asked.

"Hey, it's me."

"Joe. Everything alright?" Brian gets onto Miranda's computer and logs into his wife's NYPD account after he got a message.

"I'm in town." Joe said as he looks out the window of his loft.

"So they're moving up from Georgia?"

"Yeah and Danny might have blown my cover. I don't know if we can meet face to face."

"No, we're not going to risk it and I'm leaving for Chicago in the morning." Brian motions to the computer and Miranda looks.

"A family was shot to death twenty minutes ago." Miranda said.

"Think it's connected to what I'm doing?" Joe asked.

"Might be. I'll do some investigating on my end. You just stay safe, ok?"

"I will. Let's meet then. Central Park, midnight. Our spot."

"You got it." Miranda hangs up the phone and looks at the information so far.

"Joe's back in the city?" Brian asked.

"Yeah. The group has moved up here from Georgia. This shooting might be connected and what doesn't help was that Danny might have blown his cover." Miranda said.

"He's your brother-in-law."

"Don't remind me. Erin doesn't even know about this. Does Abigail know about us doing this handler work?"

"No since she's the secretary for the Commissioner. My marriage is barely hanging on since she's working with the NYPD and I'm not."

"I know the feeling."

At midnight, Miranda walks to the bench and sits down as Joe is on the bench, waiting for her, as silence is heard throughout the city.

"Do I need to remove you from the group?" Miranda asked without looking at him.

"No, but make sure you keep Danny off of my ass." He said.

"Easier said than done after what happened to your father, but I will do my best. But you know the Reagan's."

"Hard headed Irish blue bloods."

"No one worse than Erin and Danny. Does the name Max mean anything?" He looks at her.

"Yeah, he's working with me. Why?"

"Because he's the prime suspect in the triple homicide Danny's working on, along with Erin. There has to be a reason why the group moved from Georgia to here." She said then looks at him.

"There's a court case coming up in a few days, but I don't know where. I think there is anyway. Could be connected." He said.

"I'll ask Erin and I'll get in contact with Massachusetts to see if they have anything and have them ask the other New England states since New York might be a stop. You call me if you need me."

"I will." They fist bump and Miranda taps his head twice before heading back to her car and he walks in a different direction.

"This case is a nightmare." Erin said as she looks at the information on her computer the following morning.

"Could the case be connected to a court case in a couple of days?" Miranda asked after she told Brian to make the speech so that she could stay in town in case Joe needed her.

"That's out of left field. Even for you." Erin said as she leans back in her chair and looks at her wife.

"Nothing is off the table with the shooting."

"No, you're right. We gotta look at all angles. Including all upcoming court hearings that deal with crimes in this manner or even with the same suspect in mind. I'll have Anthony doing some digging around. Are you mad that you're missing the trip to Chicago?"

"No. Just...I wanted to go, but with Heather dealing with the fall out of her messy divorce, which was also very public, I figured I should stay here and help her with Will. Besides, I'll go next year when Paul Pierce is inducted into the Hall of Fame. That's going to be fun since I watched him grow as a basketball player and he's one of my closes friends."

"I'm surprised you didn't send the cavalry after Christian."

"I will. I'm gonna do it when he least expects it." Miranda finishes her coffee and starts to rinse out her mug and makes a to go cup of coffee for Erin when Danny walks into the apartment.

"You wanna tell me what's going on?" Danny asked.

"Yes Danny, come on in. With what?" Erin asked.

"Zip it!" Miranda mouthed to him.

"With the Celtics." He said, getting the message from Miranda.

"That is my wife's department. I gotta go." Erin said as she takes the mug of coffee. She and Miranda quickly kiss then Erin leaves.

"I take it she doesn't know?" He asked.

"No. What do you want, Danny?" Miranda asked.

"On why Joe's working undercover for ATF."

"He's trying to stop the illegal sales of weapons between Georgia and New York and trying to find the head of this."

"For six months?"

"Yes. Joe personally asked me to do it and your father agreed to it and Brian knows because he's in the same boat as I am. I didn't know he was back in town until he called me after you potentially blowing his cover. Good thinking of having him hit you to get away." She said.

"I had to do it to protect him. Where are we on this anyway?"

"We could be looking at a court hearing between Georgia to Maine and possibly an ambush of a court house somewhere along the East Coast."

"That's hundreds of court houses, along with Washington, DC. Not to mention thousands of police officers and federal agents." He said.

"And what doesn't help is the last four years of President Idiot running the country, which set all of us back thirty years. Erin's going to have Anthony do some digging around for court cases here in New York that are upcoming. I can get in touch with a contact in Boston for any in Massachusetts and see if she can figure out any in the other New England states."

"What about your friend in the FBI?"

"No. I'm not calling her. She's already got enough to deal with in Washington after the riot on the Capitol Building. She's still investigating that and that was back in January."

"Alright. What about Erin when she finds out that you've been keeping this from her? Along with Nicky and Heather?"

"The girls don't need to know since they don't live here in the apartment anymore. As for Erin...this will possibly be the icing on the cake of my marriage."
