Marian's point of view
With an order given to the cook and a couple of servants it was without a moments question carried out with great haste.
A small table had been put out into the courtyard by the stable entrance.
Where simple food like bread was being stacked up.
I know bread is not going to solve our problem but since we all were going to fight,
People will need to eat to gain some strength and not die of starvation.
Not on my watch at least.
'No it's not going to solve it but you are thinking about everyone else and not yourself.
That is what a soon to be wife to the second in commands duty in tails.
Who is as of this moment right now the sheriff of Nottingham.'
….
Guy's point of view
So with the doors now shut I made it my mission to get the news out.
"Everyone needs to gather inside the castle.
All people willing and able to fight must go to Alan and await more instructions.
All women and children must stay together and go to lady Marian.
No exceptions!"
Four more times I must of repeated myself.
More and more people were coming out of the buildings with each time I repeated it.
I told a few other people to also spread the word around to other places.
Just to make sure no one was left behind and we will need all the help we could get anyway.
As the people passed me by my instinct told me to go down the small alley that was next to me.
I didn't see anyone from where I was currently standing but proceeded down their anyway.
Behind a crate was a small girl who was scared and alone.
Perhaps it was me who made her this way or the situation around us.
I guess I won't ever know but I asked her name.
She didn't reply so I got down on my knees in front of her and asked calmly again.
"J-J-Jane..sir"
I smiled at her which I would never have done if Vaisey was around.
Since he wasn't I wanted to show people I did have another side to me.
A kinder side of sorts I guess.
The people will see it when I am officially the sheriff of Nottingham.
"Where are your parents Jane ?"
"I-I don't know.."
She said as she began to cry.
"Sshh their now.
We will find them.
I promise."
Jane nodded a little at these softly spoken words of mine.
So I got back to my feet and held a hand out to her.
Surprisingly she stood and quickly took it.
Seeing the crowds of people I didn't want to risk her getting trampled so I lifted her up and held her close to my chest.
Jane didn't mutter a sound or protest instead she wrapped her arms around me and nuzzled her head against my chest.
It was an odd but extremely wonderful sensation to feel.
Is this what having children is like ?
Marian appeared in my mind.
In this life or the next perhaps we will experience it together ?
'In time'
"I'll take you to my friend lady Marian"
With that I began to push through the gathering crowds in front of the castle.
Marian's point of view
Slowly more and more people were lining up for either food and shelter or to get given a sword from Alan.
We were on opposite sides of the courtyard so the lines would be somewhat manageable.
So many people were hurrying about it was hard to keep track of who was going where and who was doing what.
My attention snapped to someone who was pushing through the line.
Seeing who it was I called their name.
"Will any word from Robin ?"
Hopefully has good news.
Will sadly shook his head.
"But I know he will die before he stops looking."
"Today that's not good enough Will"
I said while hastily continuing my task.
Honestly any other time that would be good enough but today it simply isn't.
"Marian..the one person who can't die…is you."
Can't die ?
"There's no way out"
I stated simply,
Well I mean if the sheriff was found then that's our only way out of this mess now.
Nothing else will stop it.
"I promised Robin you'd be safe"
Will saying this to me made me stop for a moment and Let the words sink in.
Slowly my attention turned to his face.
He was serious and I knew by the tone of his voice that it was something Will would honour with his last breath.
As Will then left my eyes caught sight of Guy holding a little girl against his chest.
This is something I have never seen before and gave me great joy to witness it.
Once he stood in front of me he handed the small girl over to me.
I held her on my right hip and gently wiped some hair away from her eyes.
My focus going back and forth between the girl and Guy.
"Her name is Jane and she can't find her parents so I thought I'd bring her to you."
I nodded and concentrated on Guy.
For a brief moment our eyes locked and soon broke as he then rushed off over to Alan.
So I gave the order to a nearby servant to take over as I took care of things inside the great hall.
With Jane in my arms I hurried up the stone steps and into the castle.
I gently sat Jane down onto the large table and checked for any wounds that needed to be attended to.
Thankfully I could see no signs of her being hurt but kept my attention on her all the same.
Guy's point of view
With Alan being given more orders I knew now was the time that I needed to make for Marian only and it had to be now.
If we just got married and left Nottingham we'll be able to have the life we want.
'She won't do it'
She will.
'She wont'
She must.
….
Since she had Jane with her she must of gone into the great hall.
I took off into the crowd and pushed my way through to try and find her.
When I was finally onto the balcony looking over the hall I spotted her instantly.
She seemed to be checking to see if Jane was hurt at all.
My sweet Marian.
'Now is not the time'
