Day One: Point of View - Third Person

One special day at the literature club, MC enters the club room, MC only sees Yuri reading her novel. However she doesn't notice his presence at all. MC takes a seat at one of the desks, waiting for the other members. Through the windows of the club room, the sun shines a bright hue of orange light, covering MC's face in the light of a sunset and stares through the window in great boredom.

Eventually, MC looks around the room and sees Yuri reading a novel, but she turns each page very slowly, like time has been slowed to a painful crawl. MC looks around a little more and MC sees a computer on Monika's desk, usually there's nothing on her desk. So, MC gets up from his desk and Yuri notices. Awkwardly she says, "Hi MC... I didn't see you there, sorry." As MC walks to Yuri's desk says, "It's nothing," in a relaxed manner, with a light smile.

Then, she goes to her other world, flipping pages and leaving reality behind once more. MC goes to Monika's desk and looks at the computer. A program is open, it looks like a development software for games such as visual novels. "Sayori's Depression: 1/100, Yuri's Obsession: 1/100." MC stares at the text with confusion and curiosity, but Monika walks into the room, MC greets her and leaves the desk quickly to not cast any suspicion upon any of the club members. Then Sayori and Natsuki enter the room and all of the club members greet each other.

MC and Natsuki read a few chapters of manga together, MC enjoyed reading with Natsuki more than Yuri. In that meeting, all the members shared their poems to each other and provided their thoughts on each poem and nothing out of the ordinary happened besides that computer being there. MC walks home with Sayori while they have a casual conversation as the beauty of the night sky covers their vision. MC goes home and devises a plan and writes his poem for the next day. MC writes down the plan to see what Monika is planning with this program.

Plan: Bring flash drive to school, be the first to arrive at the club room, and copy the files of the program and project.

Day Two: Point of View - First Person

The next day I woke up from a progressing dream, ate a feeble breakfast of only one toast, and I strolled to school with Sayori. We headed to school and were almost late! Classes went by at a plodding pace until the last period. As soon as the final bell rang, I ran with a flash drive in hand to the club room.

The room was empty, thankfully, and I inserted the flash drive into the computer. The program was still open and I browsed to the file, the file is titled "Project Doki Doki." I had no idea why the file was titled this way, but I copied the files into my flash drive just in time before Yuri showed up. I quickly greeted her and slid the flash drive into my pocket just before anyone could notice. The club meeting went as usual until the members started sharing their poems. Natsuki shared her poem to me first and it was too simple for my tastes, but I said it was a good poem because I didn't want to hurt her feelings.

On the other hand, Yuri criticized her poem, not harshly, but with constructive criticism however. But, Natsuki wasn't taking any of it, so that's when the chaos emerged. Me and Monika tried to break up the fight, but it wasn't working, so me, her, and Sayori left the room. We heard nothing but the yelling of Natsuki and Yuri for two minutes until Yuri left the room in a mess of tears. We attempted to comfort her and eventually it worked. We entered the room and they made up, apologizing to one another. Honestly I do believe Natsuki was in the wrong here, but I want to keep the peace.

Everyone went home and I as usual went home with Sayori talking about what happened at the club today and other recent events. I wave goodbye to Sayori and I enter my abode and rush upstairs to my room, closing my bedroom door with great haste, I plug in the flash drive into my computer, and browse the contents of "Project Doki Doki."

I open the program and see that there's six parts to the project. "MC, Sayori, Yuri, Natsuki, Monika, and NPC Control." The last asset is one I'm most interested in, but I open the first one, "MC." Opening it results in multiple other assets appearing such as, "MC's room background." I click my mouse and see an image of my room. There's an option on the upper right corner of the software. "Change Background." I click, and it leads me to my file explorer. Then, I click on a random picture and the room suddenly changes into a picture of a purple space Nebula. I'm confused and amazed all at the time, like two powers intertwining into a greater feeling.

My jaw dropped in an amazed disbelief. I push my office chair and fall on my tailbone, I don't feel anything, my mind is racing until a few minutes have flown by at great pace and I manage to connect the dots. Using this I can change the world. I managed to stay up the whole night playing around with the program, forgetting to write my poem for the club meeting. I undid every change such as my room background so Monika doesn't become suspicious that somebody has her project.

Day Three: Point of View - First Person

All tired and sleepy eyed, I walked to school with Sayori. She saw my condition and said, "Did you spend all night playing games?" "Something like that." I replied with a poker face and a smirk on the back of my mind. We made it to school on time and I somehow wrote a half baked poem during class without anyone taking notice. However, teachers commented on my drowsiness and asked me to get more sleep for tomorrow. After all, there's a test the next day.

After the bell rang, I entered the club walking around the school very slowly and with no surprise, I was the last to enter the literature club. They all greeted me as the door closed, I laid my head down on my desk and with my arms crossed, surrounding my head, as a weak attempt to catch up on my much needed rest. I hear footsteps coming towards me, I believe it's one of the girls and she knocks the desk with a surprisingly harsh force. I lift my sleepy head up from a short period of rest and it's Natsuki. She puts on a slightly annoyed face and asks me. "Hey, MC, do you want to read some manga with me?" I feebly reject her kind offer. "I'm sorry Natsuki I can't, I'm tired from staying up all night playing games, sorry Natsuki, I really am."

Disappointed by my words she walked to the others and whispered something I couldn't hear. I slept through the whole meeting, Sayori gave me a nudge on the shoulder to wake me up and I did. Sayori and I walked home and I asked. "Did everyone share their poems?" "No, we decided to just do what we wanted, though Monika doesn't usually like that." "What did Natsuki whisper to the others?" "Since I told the others that you are tired, she said that I was right, she seemed defeated about it too." "I should've expected that." I replied quickly.

I go home and Sayori goes to her home as well. I rush to my room like yesterday, however this time I collapse onto my bed with the wood of the bed frame creaking as I land with all of my body weight. I drift into unconsciousness in a few moments, I plan on staying home tomorrow, the test doesn't matter anyway. I'll let my friends know and I'll call the school for my absence. This is not all because of getting sleep, it's mainly for seeing what more I can do with this software.

Day Four Part One: Point of View - First Person

I wake up with the sun shining through the blinds and I feel more refreshed than yesterday. I look at the time, it's 7:40 A.M. Just when school starts, so that's good. I go downstairs and call the school for my unexpected absence. Pretending to be sick, I cough a few times mid call and I sound nasally, I hope they are convinced once I hang up. I let my friends know by texting them, but I told them that I wasn't sick, rather catching on some sleep.

Now for the actual reason why I'm not at school. I turn on the power button on my computer and wait for it to start up. It doesn't take much time to boot and then I open "Project Doki Doki." Starting to experiment with some settings, then I see something very unusual. The settings are changing their configurations without my command. I start to think, "Who can be messing with the settings?" In a few moments I realize that it should be Monika, this realization hits me like a flash of lightning. I stare at my monitor in awe, though I should have seen this coming. I stop messing with the program, so Monika doesn't notice, but I believe I'm caught red-handed this time. I started thinking about how I could prevent Monika from accessing "Project Doki Doki." And I came to one conclusion, delete the project from Monika's computer.

So, instead of changing the world around me like I intended to, I decided to write a poem to express my worries and frustrations today and study a little for my make-up test for the next day. After that, I played some video games, and had fun for the rest of the day until...

Day Four Part Two: Point of View Third Person

Monika is sitting on her desk in the club room, pondering on who's using her project. Eventually she decides that she should ask the club members, but just before club time starts she leaves pretending to be practicing piano. After three minutes or so, she starts going back into the literature club. Yuri and Natsuki are here, so they're just waiting for Sayori to enter. The members waited awkwardly for a few minutes, making each minute feel as if it were an hour. Monika says to both of them, "It just isn't the same without MC." Yuri nods and Natsuki agrees, "Yeah, manga is not as fun to read without him." As Natsuki tells her, Monika makes a subtle, but jealous face. Suddenly, Sayori bursts into the room, surprising the other club members.

"Hi Sayori, I would like to say something before we start sharing poems. This goes for all of you because someone has accessed a personal file of mine without my permission. It's from my computer, which is on my desk. Did any of you access the files or do you know anyone who could have done it?" The other members were frightened by her sudden announcement. "I… didn't notice your computer... being tampered with…" Yuri hesitated. "I won't do that! I don't even know how to browse a computer's files!" Natsuki said with shocking confidence. "Monika, we didn't do it. Do you trust us?" Sayori said with a sad voice. "Alright then, I'll ask MC after we share our poems, I didn't mean to act like I don't trust any of you because I do trust all of you. It's just that this file is very important to me." The members understood and shared their poems. Nothing out of ordinary happened while they shared their poems without MC.

Sayori, Yuri, and Natsuki start going home in separate ways as the sun boils below to set. Monika told them that she'll stay at the club room (as she always did unless to enter or exit the room to pretend to be a student) and she pulled out her phone out of her pocket and texted MC. "Hi MC, did you access my computer? None of the others tampered with it, so did you take the files? Anyway, someone started tampering with the files during class time and the teachers probably would have noticed if they were present at school. And you were the only club member not present at school."

Day Four Part Three: Point of View - First Person

I received a text and it's from Monika. I read it and I have three choices, either I tell the truth, I lie to her, or I don't reply at all. Telling the truth would uncover my deed, but not replying or lying would lead to her becoming more worried than ever before. My hands are tied, but I eventually made my choice. At this point I believe she knows anyway, so telling the truth is my best option.

I typed my reply to her, "Yes, I took the software and tampered with it, trust me I won't do it again." She replied back, "I'll let you off the hook this time. However, if you do this again there will be dire consequences." I sighed in relief that she didn't do anything serious, but my morbid curiosity was driving me like nothing else can, it might even get the better of me. So, I thought of the plan that will block Monika's access to "Project Doki Doki."

Plan: Be the very first to enter the club room, access Monika's computer, delete "Project Doki Doki."

I head to bed knowing that there's a big day tomorrow.

Day Five: Point of View - First Person

Waking up from an abstract dream due to a buzzing alarm, I hastily turn off the alarm and I start to recollect what my dream was. Picking up the fragments as if attempting to pick glass and mangling it together, the dream started and ended in the void. There was a silver key in the void, a key I wanted to grab but it kept floating away like the key was in a current of unseen water. This lasted for the entire dream, and the reflection took more time than I intended.

Once again I ate a small breakfast of one slice of toast then I got dressed as fast as possible. I rushed out of the door and Sayori was waiting for me. "I'm going to be late!" I thought. We hastily make it to the school and thankfully we're not late. We made it to our classes and the day was filled with boring lesions and a test I studied little for. I knew that was going to fail but I tried. After several hours of monotone lectures, the bell rang and ran to the club room.

Near the club room, I could see Monika in an empty room through a door's window. I wonder why she's in there, however I know that she didn't see me. I don't question it for long because I need to delete that file! So, I barge into the room quickly going to Monika's laptop. "Damn it!" I thought. There's a password! I look around the desk for any papers that might have the password, but there's none. She's smarter than I previously thought! The members will come in the room soon, so I went to my desk sitting while frustrated and bored all at the same time.

Then I thought of a new idea. At the closing of the club meeting, I'll leave an item like a lunch box on my desk, and while I'm walking with Sayori I'll say something like, "Hey Sayori… I left my lunch box in the club room, I'm sorry but you'll have to walk home without me." Once I enter the room I'll claim my "forgotten" lunch box and if no one remains in the room I'll hide in the closet. This is because if Monika can use her computer during class, maybe she'll use it after school as well. If a club member is still in the room I'll still collect my lunch box, but I'll wait for them to leave. If I get caught or I wait for too long I'm done for. This is very risky, but I'll do it anyway. The benefits of this file will probably outweigh the cost, hopefully I'm right.

I hear a door opening and it's Natsuki which is surprising, she's usually one of the last ones to arrive. She pulled out some manga out of the closet and we started reading together after I greeted her. She's in higher spirits than the other days probably because I'm reading with her for the first time in four days. Yuri walks in the room just when we finished two chapters. She sees us reading together, she waves at us in an introverted way. She walks to her desk and takes a seat, pulling out a book out of her backpack and starts reading, returning into a world never seen by anyone but her.

Monika enters the room and greets everyone like her usual self, almost like she forgot what happened yesterday. I start questioning my motive, "Should I really do this." "I'll feel really bad if I delete the file." "The reward will be greater than I'll ever comprehend." Thoughts like those spin and levitate in my mind while still managing to focus on the manga me and Natsuki are reading. Finally, Sayori arrives, and Natsuki and I stop reading, she brings the manga back in the closet (I might need that if I get bored). The club members including myself greet each other and we split up, sitting at our desks. I start thinking about who I should read with next. Since I read some manga with Natsuki, I decided to read with Yuri this time. I walk up to her and ask, "Yuri can we read together?" I feel oddly nervous when asking this question. Startled, Yuri moves quickly and answers with an awkward, "Sure… MC."

I grab a desk and push it beside her, taking a seat. She places the open book in between us. We start reading and the novel is very surreal, like a dream that lingered for too long. I like it, it's very refreshing, especially compared to the usual manga and other literature I read. We start getting closer, focusing on the words that lay before us. I noticed this, but Yuri never laid an eye out of the pages. After reading for a while, Monika yells, "Okay everyone!" That surprisingly startled me. We gather and start to share our poems, everyone seems happy and nothing out of the usual happened. The club meeting comes to an end and everyone says their goodbyes. Me and Sayori leave, but just before we open the doors, I pretend to leave my lunchbox. As we exit the school gates, we walk off as the sun stares at us.

"Hey… Sayori, I forgot something from the club room. You'll have to walk home without me… sorry Sayori." Sayori has a defeated expression on her face and then replies, "Sure." and walks home without me. I start walking back to school and the gates aren't locked yet, I start sneaking so nobody notices my presence. Now I'm at the club room and I made it through the school with a lack of difficulty. Again, I check the computer but it's still locked, so I collect my lunch box and enter the closet. Since there's manga in the closet I won't get as bored waiting here.

After reading manga and waiting for a few minutes, Monika enters the room. "This is my chance!" I thought in a hopeful light. She takes a seat on her desk, types something on the computer, I'm assuming that's the password. After an hour of typing code (assuming) she leaves the room. I slowly and carefully open the closet door. I sneak to her desk and it's unlocked, thank god. I start browsing the files and start deleting the file. As soon as the file is deleted, Monika once again enters the room. I quickly retreat to a desk further away, praying that she doesn't see me. Since it's almost nightfall and the shadows are becoming greater every thirty minutes or so, I can possibly use the shadows as an advantage. But she hears my retreat and walks towards the desk I'm hiding in, so I decide to make a quick escape by running and opening a door on my right with great strength and haste. I started running through the halls and down the stairs, hoping she didn't see my face.

Eventually I make it to the front gate, but it's closed. I start to panic, "Maybe I won't make it after all." I thought. Fortunately, I look at the gate and see that it's easy to open, so I open the gate and just when I start closing the gate in front of me. Monika blasts through the door sprinting towards me, I close it in time, just before she can see and catch me. I jog home, and I sit on the couch, thinking about what just happened. A few minutes later, I start to walk upstairs to my room. I start up my computer and open the program again and while playing with the program for a little, I see that there's an option to control the NPC's memory, so I delete those recent memories Monika had about this night and about the program she was working on. After that I take a shower, eat a small dinner, write a poem, and I head off to bed. As I drift to sleep, I worry about tomorrow.

Day Six Part One: Point of View - First Person

Waking up from a dream I can't remember, my eyes stare at the alarm clock. The alarm is about to go off in a few minutes, so I decide to stay and lay on my bed. "Buzz… buzz… buzz." I shut off the harsh sounds of the alarm and slowly leave my bed. I have a measly breakfast of the same toast I have been having for years. "I need to start changing my breakfast soon." I thought, but not for long. I start getting dressed, then I head out the door and wait for Sayori. While waiting, I start thinking of last night. I hope what changes I made to the program worked.

Sayori runs to me and starts waving at me. Then, we start walking to school. Class was boring as usual, I had my elbow on the desk, putting my hand on my face just to hold my head. After what seems like an eternity, the bells ring, it's club time! Still hoping that my changes worked, I pretend that nothing happened. Surprisingly, Monika was the first one in the club room, usually it's Yuri or me that's in the club room first. Mentally, I start to panic; thoughts like, "This is the end." and/or, "This is bad!" flooded my brain.

In a pleasant turn of events, she greeted me normally and I took a seat on my desk. Yuri quietly walked in, I didn't notice her because I was overwhelmed by my thoughts. Even though Monika seemed normal. Possibly, my plan had worked! Yuri is now on her desk reading a novel, "Probably the same one I read with her yesterday," I thought. Then, Natsuki enters the club room. She walks toward me, and I'm oblivious to her entrance. She greets me and I start to notice, but thankfully her greeting didn't startle me. "Hey-y, MC do you want to read some manga with me today?" She asks and I agree with her, "Sure, we can." I answer back. She starts going into the closet and grabs a volume of manga and we start pushing our desks together and we start reading. After three chapters of manga, Sayori arrives at last.

She enters as bubbly as ever greeting everyone with a smile. Suddenly, Natsuki closes her manga before I can react. She leaves her desk to greet Sayori and the others, and I do the same. After me and her met the other club members, we split up and I decided to spend the rest of the club time before sharing poems with Sayori. I walk up to Sayori's desk and I notice she's asleep. "Great," I thought. So, I spend some time with Monika instead. I walk up to her desk and she's drawing a poster for the festival coming up next week. I ask her, "Hi! Monika, can I help you draw that poster?" She didn't expect it and blushed at my generous offer. She replies with, "Yeah-h… sure!" She said in a nervous yet cheerful manner. We started drawing more and more of the poster and when it was finished, it was a drawing of an open book with an illustrated door that's open on the right page and on the left page it's written, "Welcome to the Literature Club!" , and below that was, "We're inviting members to discover the world of literature!" Personally, I found the festival poster to be quite nice.

After the poster was drawn, she yelled once again, "Okay everyone!" Everyone gathers and we share our poems, but when Monika read my poem, she had this odd expression. Almost if she's trying to remember something. When the club meeting closes its doors, I walk home with Sayori while the sun looks down at us. I go home, have dinner, do my homework, write another poem, and just before I go to bed. I have an interesting thought because the changes I made to Monika's memories worked. I'll bring my computer to school because it's a laptop. I'll see how the world will react to my changes without Monika's control!

Day Six Part Two: Point of View - First Person (Monika's Perspective)

I wake up in the club room, I feel like I lost something and my mind is fuzzy. I wait with nothing to do until club time, "What was I supposed to do?" I thought. Club time emerged out of what felt like an eternity. MC walks in first, then Yuri, Natsuki, and Sayori arrive after. We all say our hellos and split up to our desks. I started drawing the poster for the upcoming festival. Then, out of nowhere, MC walks up to me and says, "Hi! Monika, can I help you draw that poster?" I freeze and blush due to me not expecting that question. I answered MC's question with, "Yeah-h… sure!" MC and I start drawing the poster. When it's finished, the results could have been better but it did the job. Then, I shout, "Okay everyone!" to everyone in the club room. All the members gather and we start sharing poems, but MC's for some reason stood out from the rest. It seemed familiar to me but I can't point my finger at it. I told MC that his poem was good to not hurt his feelings and/or to not confuse him.

His poem went like this, "Hiding away from an eye that peaks at all that I try to obtain, A power hidden away by a train, Running in the pouring rain, A power I will obtain once again." It feels familiar, like a lost memory, but the bell won't ring. I spend the rest of the day thinking of what this poem means, but eventually I just put the thought down and go to sleep for the next day.

Day Seven Part One: Point of View - First Person (MC's Perspective)

I woke up from a dream that I can remember clearly as if it was made of glass. I was falling from the sky until I saw nothing and I just floated there. But, instead of waking up minutes before the alarm went off, the alarm woke me up with an ear piercing, "Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz." I slammed the alarm's off button with the bottom of a clenched fist. I eat the same breakfast of a single slice of toast, but I spread some jelly for variety's sake. I get dressed and with haste, I exit the front door of my abode. However, just before I leave the house, I put my laptop in my backpack. Then, I started to wait for Sayori. After a few minutes, Sayori arrives with her usual bubbly smile.

She waves to me, I wave back, and we walk to school. We surprisingly made it on time and classes were tedious to say the least, but time went flew by unlike yesterday. The final bell rings and I head off to the literature club. I open the club room doors and see that Yuri is the first one there, sitting on her desk, reading a novel. Not aware of my attendance, I take a seat on my desk. As I wait for the other club members to emerge, I think of what possibilities can arise from my laptop's program. Eventually, all of them enter the club room. We greet each other and now at my desk, I pull my laptop out of my bag and place it on my lap. I open it slightly, but enough to see most of the screen and then I open, "Project Doki Doki."

I start changing the NPC's traits, the specific one I increase is "Obsession." This is because the other trait, "Depression," is self explanatory. So, I increase Yuri, Sayori, Monika and Natsuki's "Obsession," by, "50/100". They all start to stare at me and walk towards me. In fear, I attempt to decrease this setting, but I accidentally increase it to, "100/100". Natsuki tries to get closer to me, but Yuri takes an object out. It's a knife! She stabs Natsuki in the abdomen and she starts bleeding rapidly, she's now not focused on me, but for her life, the floor is now stained with her blood. Then Sayori jumps on Yuri's back attempting to subdue her, but out of my sight, Monika runs toward me. She kicks my chair and my chair is faced upward while I'm still seated. I look at my lap and nothing is there. I can't see, I can't hear, and I can only form thoughts.

Day Seven Part Two: Point of View - First Person (Monika's Perspective)

The next day, I decided to think about what the meaning of MC's poem was before club time starts. Before club time arose, I pretended to practice piano and when the final bell rang, I left and walked toward the literature club. Yuri and MC arrived before me and eventually Natsuki and Sayori entered the club room doors. I noticed MC wasn't spending any time with the other club members which is out of the ordinary. And out of nowhere, the other club members (including myself) were suddenly staring at MC. And then walking towards him! This was out of my control and then chaos emerged. Yuri stabbed Natsuki and Sayori is fighting Yuri! Then the thought came to me like a letter on my doorstep, the poem was MC's way of saying that he has my program! I started to remember why I created this game and the other events that took place with him. I need to save Yuri, Natsuki, and Sayori! I start pushing my way out of MC's control and I run towards him, taking his laptop and then I kick his chair. Quickly I go to MC's profile and delete him from the world using his own laptop. Soon I reversed Natsuki's wound and our negative traits using his laptop.

Day Seven Part Three: Point of View - Third Person (Finale)

Monika, Sayori, Yuri, and Natsuki give each other a group hug in unison. Now, she and her friends can spend time together in peace and harmony. And, Monika realizes that she didn't create her friends to pretend that they were characters in a false dating sim. She created them as a representation of herself, someone that she can relate to and someone she can be friends with. She realized that she didn't need MC for Just MC is in the void.
