In Those Eyes

Alexis Potter sat in her dorm room petting her toad when suddenly her friend Taylor Flint burst in. "Lex, what're you doin'? Slytherin an' Ravenclaw will be playing in ten minutes! We have to get down to the pitch!"

"I don't like Quidditch!" Alexis said turning her face into her pillow.

But Taylor was persistent, "Please! Come on! You never go to a game with me! I always play Gobstones with you! You owe me this!"

Alexis felt the tugging on her and even felt Taylor trying to tickle her.

"Alrighty then!" Alexis pushed her friend off and then grudgingly got herself up and brought her toad to her shoulder.

"Yay! Come on! No time!" Taylor immediately grabbed her arm and they headed off. Before Alexis knew much, they were already at the grounds, about to get in to watch.

Alexis suddenly saw someone, a girl, with silvery blonde hair long to her waist, and wavy. She was tall, only slightly taller than Alexis and had a Ravenclaw Quidditch uniform on. Alexis knew it was Zephyra Lovegood, the Ravenclaw Quidditch Captain. Taylor saw who Alexis was eyeing, "She's very good, I wouldn't doubt if she gets Carrow all up in a goosechase." Taylor laughed. Alice Carrow was one of their friends, she was a Slytherin Chaser.

Alexis half smiled, but felt uncomfortable looking at the Captain, and before she could divert her gaze, Zephyra locked eyes with her, and even faced her direction, those pale blue eyes. Alexis immediately turned away and went up with Taylor to their spots.

"This better be at least an exciting game," Alexis laid back in her seat. Taylor was already hollering at the Slytherin team. All of the players went onto the pitch and began to get in their starting lines. Alexis saw the Slytherins seeming intimidated by the Ravenclaw captain, but alas the game began.

Alexis was not sure if Zephyra's broom was the fastest, but she seemed to be quite swift in all her moves, she played a Beater, and showed no mercy, very calculative. Ravenclaw had 40 points to Slytherin's 20 so far.

The game went on for half the day, at one point the Slytherin seeker almost caught the snitch, but Zephyra sent a bludger their way and they immediately lost sight of it.

Near the end Ravenclaw had 240 points while Slytherin was defeated at 230 points. It was close, Slytherin tried hard to not catch the snitch so soon, but when the ravenclaw seeker was coming upon it, the Slytherin had to grab it first. They ended up both catching it at once, and when a Chaser was just about to try and score for 10 points, the Slytherin seeker had already pulled the snitch away, the timing was lost. Ravenclaw won.

Alexis, not being overly excited about the game, clapped her hands anyway. She longed to return to her room, thinking about Dueling strategies, which she remained champion for the last 2 years. This was now her fourth year at Hogwarts, and she'd earned Slytherin 20 points so far, but Ravenclaw was leading for the house cup. It was often a competition for Slytherins and Gryffindor to win, but everyone knew that these few years, a witty Ravenclaw was crushing all of them, due to her nerdiness. Everyone knew Zephyra Lovegood worked very hard, too hard, "She should have been put into Hufflepuff, milking pixies or some weird farm life," Alice laughed, and Taylor same.

"Why is she so smart? Like who cares? The littlest grades, one can still try for the Ministry. What's her game?" Alexis wondered.

"I don't know, but she's not from here, her father was greek, as his brother. Said to have a very wealthy family back in Greece."

"What they doin' here?" Taylor asked, stuffing her face with a Pumpkin Pasty.

"I don't know, supposedly her family is wickedly mad, I wouldn't doubt if the next dark Lord is one of Ravenclaw," Alice joked.

"Alice I swear you're going to be the dread of all of us, you do know my grandfather fought a Dark Lord."

"Ah yes, how can I forget the famous family of Potter, haaha, I suppose we might as well have a new evil about with you here!" Alice pranced around her friends showering them in glittering confetti spawned from a sparkle charm, the girls all just laughed now, knowing Alice is always with her dark jokes.

"Hello there," The sweetest, most gentle voice called out to the girls.

Alexis and her friends saw it was Zephyra herself with her group of Ravenclaw friends flocking close to her. "Haahahahaha! What? You want a rematch?!" Alice laughed and Taylor followed.

Alexis however felt drawn into those pale blue eyes and replied. "Hey." She squinted because of the bright sun that came out.

Zephyra walked over to Alexis, "I saw you, at the match. You never do come to the matches. I always see you in the library. So, what do you think?"

Alexis felt intimidated, being looked at by the smartest witch at Hogwarts right now. She was the leader in her house points, was a part of every club there was, and was even an animagus.

"I- I think it's," she didn't want to lie. "I don't understand it, the rules. Why is the snitch 150 points? Seems a little unfair! And the fact there's no time limit. It's just-"

Zephyra smirked and looked more at Alexis like she was an adorable baby chick who needed hugs. "Well, I suppose that's fair enough. If you'll meet me, 5pm tomorrow, I'm going to be at the Commentator Box studying. Maybe, you can teach me the beauty of dueling?" And with that, Zephyra walked away, eyes lingering on Alexis slightly till she turned towards Ravenclaw Tower with her group.

"Yeah? Well! Dueling actually saves your life! Haha!" Alice cooed at the girls leaving. "What a bunch of nasties!" Taylor laughed with her again and yet Alexis was thinking. Maybe she would meet with her, she was a bit curious about why people adored Quiddich, but also, Zephyra just seemed, like she knew more, Alexis had that feeling, of knowing there was knowledge in those eyes.

Before Light's Out, Taylor and Alice were chatting up a storm all three of them sitting on Alexis's bed. "That weirdo… Are you going to see her then? I'll come with you, I'm the nonsense police of course! Haha!" Alice joked.
"Right, what's she up to anyway, the 'smartest student at Hogwarts'" Taylor motioned her fingers doing quotations.

"I don't know, either way, why not? We could have the smartest girl be on our side, she could help us with homework and such, maybe even get us sweeties at Hogsmeade." Alexis was convincing her friends, since they didn't want her to go alone. Better if they didn't disrupt the meeting too much.

"Well, if she helps me with my homework, then maaayybe I won't strangle her. Haha!" Alice and her laughed together and even Alexis couldn't help but giggle, she loved her friends. They each hugged each other goodnight, and then they went their separate ways.

Alexis turned out the light and went to sleep.

Outside her window, there was a small bird, drowned in the water with a section of it's feathers ripped out, floating away from the body.

The head was missing.
