Note: I'm really excited for NCIS: Hawaii this fall! So excited, I decided to write this crossover fic, Enjoy!
Hetty was on vacation in Hawaii. She was relaxing on the beach when a lady came up looking like she wanted to talk.
'Hello! I don't think I've ever seen you around these parts. I'm Jane, what's your name?' The lady asked.
'Nice to meet you! I'm Henrietta, but you can call me Hetty.' Hetty replied.
'That's a cute name. What are you here for?'
'Just a short vacation. I traveled here on my yacht.'
'Ooh, that's really cool! Can I see it?' Jane asked.
'Well, if you want to. I suppose I can show you.' Hetty replied.
Hetty took Jane to the Lady H.
'Wow! This is a beautiful boat!' Jane said.
'Yeah, it IS a pretty thing!' Hetty replied, beaming with pride.
'I have a small confession to make.'
'Oh? Tell away!'
'I knew who you were the moment I saw you on the beach. I work with the NCIS unit here, and you're a bit of a legend in these parts. I heard of you a few years ago when this yacht turned up somewhere around here.' Jane said.
'Oh. Well, I left my yacht here for a while for a reason I'd prefer not to mention. I suppose you know I work in California and am in charge of the OSP?' Hetty asked.
'Yes.'
'Anything else?'
'Not much. Other then you're this mysterious ninja like lady who scares everyone. No offense.' Jane said.
Hetty chuckled. 'None taken, dear! Want to continue this conversation over a cup of tea?'
'Sure!'
Hetty and Jane talked for 2 hours about a lot of things.
'Wow! You are like, the coolest old lady I've ever met! It's not offensive to call you that, right?' Jane asked.
'Not at all! So, you're a working mom. That's a rare thing in this business. I imagine it must be tough to find the right balance between work and home.' Hetty said.
'It is. Somedays I think I'm doing it right, other days I wonder if I'm doing it all wrong.'
'That's normal. 1 of my agents had kids and kept working. 2 of my other agents are struggling with having kids and deciding to keep working if they have them. Being in charge can be tough a lot of the time, you send them out in the field, and you have to hope that they come home in 1 piece. Overtime, they become like, your second family. From my experience.' Hetty said.
'Hmm. Yeah, my team is like that as well. Your team must really like you.'
'They do. They've risked their lives multiple times to save mine, and I've done the same for them. I've, had a rough past few years. I lost someone I really cared about, and I've really struggled with moving on. I'm trying really hard this time around to deal with it and still be there for my people.' Hetty replied.
'Oh. Sorry to hear that. I hope things get easier for you.'
'Thank you, dear.'
'It's getting late, I should be getting back.' Jane said.
'Okay. Thank you for this conversation. It was a real delight meeting you! If you're ever in California, mainly in the Los Angeles area, come find me. We'll talk more then.' Hetty replied.
'Will I get to meet your team?'
Smiling, 'Maybe!"
