Primus' Children

Chapter 1

Regret

Six Weeks before the events of "The Last Knight"...

Stripes lounged on the hood of a scrapped car, legs crossed. He watched as the sun rose up over the landscape with a small can of petrol next to him, the sun filling the sky with light. He was at the junkyard that Cade Yeager was using as a hideout now. He was surprised that Autobots and Decepticons were still coming to Earth in droves, even though the humans got more aggressive with their special Transformers Response Force. It didn't make sense to him. Even after Optimus left to try and find the creators again about six months ago...

But he pushed that thought to the back of his mind. He had another nightmare again last night. About Optimus Prime, attacking him and the other Autobots. Following someone named Quintessa. In every nightmare, Stripes himself was so angry at Prime he lost control of himself and in a blind rage ended up killing the Autobot leader. Hell, the nightmares started with Stripes himself in the middle of battle with Optimus.

Questions ran through his processors as he watched the sunrise. Why was he so angry at Optimus in the dream? Why did he have to kill him in the dream? Why was he having these nightmares in the first place?

Starblossom walked up behind him, a drowsy expression on her face plates. Stripes promised Optimus before he left again that he would watch over her. She used to be human, like himself. But unlike Stripes's scenario, Starblossom was given a choice to become one of the Transformers.

"Nightmare again?" She asked, sitting next to him.

"About Optimus turning and me fighting him? Yeah." Stripes answered. "You too?"

Starblossom nodded. She was also having similar nightmares.

Stripes sighed.

"I don't recall in the archives that Optimus shared anything stating that the 'Son of Primus' could share dreams..." He said in a grouchy tone.

Starblossom looked shocked and hurt by those words.

"You still don't fully believe you are Primus's kin, do you?"

It was then that Stripes realized what he just did. He set a servo hand on Starblossom's shoulder.

"...Starblossom, I'm sorry. It' s just… This is still all very new to me. I used to be human, like you were. I just don't know what to think right now. It's only been about Two months since… this." He motioned to himself. "Two months since I revived Optimus at Eternity Pass in our last battle with Megatron, but the whole Autobot thing… It still hasn't sunk in. I didn't mean to offend, I'm just… doubting myself, and I hate it when I doubt myself. Part of me is still wondering if this whole thing is nothing but a fluke."

"Then quit doubting yourself." Starblossom said. "You are here for a reason. Just as all of us are. Don't forget that. Follow what your Spark says."

Stripes sighed as he looked out to the horizon.

"I do. My processors answer instead."

"I can tell. You absolutely reek of Gasoline." Starblossom said. "I could smell it all the way from near Cade's Trailer. Just trust yourself, okay?" She then gently took the can of petrol. "...And please try to cut back. You won't do anyone good if you're drunk and hung over."

Stripes sighed.

Today would be a long day.
