Hey again! Just another story to add to the list,

An AU, and Bill X OC,

So without farther ado sit back, relax, and enjoy!

I sat with my mom in front of the TV, across from our blue couch as we watched the report. I didn't care for it much, but it was mandatory that all the families of Caroan watch every Friday.

"And with the growing army we will crush and torment-" just like usual the prince droned on about the war against Liona, saying how our army is so great and we will win the war shortly. After two years the same speech gets boring and uninspiring, but the way he talks about killing and tormenting Liona's citizens is nothing short of... almost demonic or hectic, and changes every time.

Prince Cipher. The name of most rumors in Caroan. They say he's mentally ill or crazy, some call him a demon, and others pity him. When he was only 18 he had slaughtered his entire family during the challenge, in which was the only way for him to inherit the throne before his parents died, in the end he succeeded having everyone in the kingdom watch as he took the crown covered in blood, and losing one of his eyes in the battle. Still people never called him a 'king' and he never forced the matter, never having a true coronation.

I was only 13 at the time, and had been slightly traumatized in hearing the queens screams. Like everyone in Caroan, I adored our queen, she was everything we looked for. Good with politics, kind, generous, an angel really. It's no wonder everyone thought the prince was a demon.

A few years later it became the 'cool' thing to have a crush on the Prince. For as wicked as he was, he was exceedingly handsome. With a narrow jawline and chin, olive skin, almost golden shaggy hair, flashing golden-brown eyes, and not to mention his usual three piece suit, top hat, and bow tie. You could immediately tell he was royalty.

I however, and many others, still remember the challenge day and would never look at the prince the same again.

My mom clicked the TV off as the prince signed off with his usual eerie goodbye "and remember I'll be watching"

"Let's get some sleep Evelyn" my mother yawned stretching as she got up from the couch to go to her room

"Ok, night"

The same as every night, almost routine. It got tiresome, but that was just the way the kingdom ran.

I went into my bedroom and buried myself under my sheets, enjoying the warmth they provided.

Maybe tomorrow will be somewhat eventful

"I'm late! I'm late!" I ran out of my room tugging on my tennis shoes.

"Slow down Evelyn, your going to fall" my mother chuckled from the kitchen where a plate of toast sat

I grabbed a piece and scooped up my messenger bag from the doorway "Thanks mom, gotta go"

"See you after school"

The school was fairly close to my home so I didn't have to walk far. Just go straight, take two lefts, a right, and another left.

I ran down the sidewalks passing by neighbors who were walking their pets or wondering around town, turning right waiting to cross the street.

The cars were zooming by pretty fast, I just would have to wait for a break in the line. While a waited my eye caught sight of a furry dog. It was small with blonde fur and what looked to be a eyepatch on it's right eye. It was walking towards the street where cars were still passing by.

"Dog!" I patted my legs trying to get it to come towards me, and not to the busy street where it would surely get run over. "Cmon dog"

It just turned to stare at me before continuing to walk

That stubborn dog! It's either mocking me or doesn't understand I hoped it was the latter

A black car was making its way towards the dog, who now stood straight in the middle of the right side of the road.

"Watch out!" I yelled at the dog, and before I could think much more of it, I jumped into the middle of the road reaching out for the dog.

My arms collided with a warm bundle of fur, as I ran to reach the other side of the road, praying I wouldn't get run over.

The car narrowly missed my ankle as I passed the sidewalk, honking its horn at me before speeding off again.

I panted, picking up the bundle of fur in my lap, to look it straight in the eyes -or eye.

"You caused me a lot of trouble, you know that? You should have came when I called" I scolded before smiling softly

"Though your cute enough for me to forgive you, and fluffy too" I ruffled behind its pointy ears, causing it to lean into my touch.

"Now who's your owner?" I reached to touch its neck but there was no collar there "well your too well fed to be a street dog"

"Do you know where you live... -oh I have to get to school! Uh..." I glanced around unsure what to do with the dog

Almost like it knew it jumped out of my lap and ran down the sidewalk.

Huh maybe it does know where it lives

Satisfied I turned on my heels heading to the school, thinking about the strange dog

School was uneventful like usual, and I was glad when at the end of the day I could relax on my bed at home and sketch in the moonlight. I was a night owl and loved to stay up late, especially because I did my best work then.

I was working on the basic outline of the figure I was drawing when I heard a scratching noise on my window. I snapped my head to the side glancing out into the dark.

I got up from my bed and leaned towards the glass to peer out, a figure jumped up scaring me before I recognized who it was.

Opening the window I grinned "hello again, did you not find your home?"

The golden dog jumped through my window with a soft yip

"Shhh we can't wake my mom up" though I doubt she would wake up for anything in the middle of the night, she was a heavy sleeper

I picked up the bundle of soft golden fur and went to sit on my bed, putting the dog in my lap to gently stroke behind his ears.

"Maybe I should give you a name of my own... how about Queen?"

My fingers brushed something that felt like leather "hm" I moved aside some of the dogs fur to see a thin leather cord holding a piece of paper

"So you do have a collar after all" I opened the paper, it was a thick piece of parchment and something that only someone of upper class writes with

"A fancy dog aren't you" I commented

Scribbled in curvy letters and written with yellow ink were the words

'Thank you for rescuing my dog. You can send him back out through the window, he knows the way back home.

-B'

"So it seems you did find your owner after all, and your a boy"

He barked

"Ok ok I'm sorry, though now Queen won't do, how about king?"

His nose touched my hand

"King it is. I wonder if your owner would mind if I wrote back..."

I tore out a piece of paper from my sketch book and got some ink

'You should tell your dog to listen to people more when they call' I joked 'though If it's ok with you I did give him the name King, seeing as he didn't come with one'

-E

(Will I get to know your full name or will I have to result to calling you 'B'?)

I tucked the note into Kings collar "that should do it" I rubbed his ears one more time "ok now you can take this to your owner"

He seemed to understand as he ran off into the forest

I didn't think I would get a reply so soon, but nearly a few minutes after I had sent my reply king jumped through my window yet again with a New note

"That was fast"

I picked up king scratching behind his ears as I opened the new note

'How about we make a deal you guess who I am, if you get it correct I will meet you in person. Also I'm sure king likes his new title.'

I grinned

'Deal. Do I get any hints?'

Another reply

' Sure but, I think I should know some things about you"

I didn't know why I was trusting a stranger I literally just met in writing, but a sense of friendship felt as if it was blooming

'Ok I'm 16, female, lower class, names Evelyn'

'I like that name I've decided. I'm Between 18 and 22, male, upper class obviously, I like bow ties. Let the games begin.'

'Wait how will I let you know when I think I've figured it out?"

'I'll simply have to send king daily'

'Then let the games begin!' I replied

"See you soon then king" I gave him one last scratch behind the ears and a gentle kiss on top his head

He turned away, almost as if he was embarrassed. He acts like a little human. Then he ran off again.

I left my window open that night but finally set on getting some sleep and figuring out who my mystery pen pal was.
