This is for Dr. Lessy's shindeku week. The prompt today was soulmates! You can find her at koogi123 on ao3.

Technically, this was supposed to be a fluff we week, but...

Hitoshi was lying on his bed in his dorm room playing low-quality games on his phone. He was quite bored, to be honest. Usually, on lazy days like these, he and Izuku would cuddle and just hang out together. Maybe go on a date. But unfortunately, Zuzu was at a weekend extra curricular and Hitoshi wasn't really in the mood to be socializing with anyone but his Izuku.

Hitoshi sighed and flipped over so he was on his back. He continued tapping away furiously at his screen. The phone was raised high over his head by his arms that were stretched as far as they would go.

A sudden barrage of knocking on the door surprised Hitoshi. He dropped his phone flat on his face. "Ow…" he said, rubbing his nose.

He clicked the phone off and walked to the door. He swore if this was Kaminari, he would mind control Bakugou into blowing the electricity user's ass off. Not that Bakugou would need any persuasion to do that.

He opened the door, preparing to yell at whoever interrupted him from being bored and missing Zuku. His mouth was already opened, ready to cuss out the person when he saw his boyfriend with tears streaming down his face and muffled sobs. He was rubbing his eyes violently, unsuccessfully trying to stop the flow of tears.

For a moment, Hitoshi just stared, then in seconds he had the greenette wrapped in his arms. He was rubbing the other's back in a form of comfort. A defeated and heartbroken sob racked through Izuku's body and he shivered.

He was crying on Hitoshi's shoulder, effectively soaking the shirt Hitoshi was wearing, but Hitoshi didn't mind. Hitoshi continued to rub the other's back. After the tears and quieted down to just sniffles, Hitoshi looked at Izuku, loosening their tight hug.

Izuku's eyes were dark and tear tracks ran down his face. Some of his curly hair was flattened to his face because of the wetness.

"Baby… what's wrong?" Hitoshi said in a soft voice.

Izuku sniffled, "I-I- he- I'm so- after-after th-the l-lesson-" Izuku broke into a fresh set of tears.

"Shh, shh, it's okay, baby. It's okay. Why don't we go into my room. Then you can tell me," Hitoshi said.

Hitoshi gently guided Izuku to his bed and sat him down. He drew heart onto Izuku's cheek with his finger.

This is what Hitoshi loved about soulmates. Whenever you touch them a mark appears on their skin, a different color each time. They would disappear within a couple of hours. Whenever Izuku was around Hitoshi couldn't resist drawing all over him. Plus, it always made Izuku laugh.

The heart sketched onto Izuku's cheek was a bright orange. He drew a blue line across Izuku's forehead then another -this time green- heart on the other cheek.

Izuku laughed a bit, briefly forgetting whatever tear inducing event that had just happened. Hitoshi started showering Izuku's neck with light taps, making a rainbow of polka dots sprinkle themselves across Izuku's light skin. Izuku outright laughed that time, preparing himself for whatever that was coming next.

Hitoshi lifted Izuku's shirt a bit, so he could have a bigger canvas. He pressed a firm hand in the middle of Izuku's stomach -red. Izuku fell gracefully onto the bed and Hitoshi hovered over him so he could finish his beautiful designs all over his boyfriend.

When Hitoshi was done with his artwork all over this masterpiece of a human he had the blessing to be able to call his boyfriend, he sat up. He offered his hands to the greenette who was now looking a bit out of it. Considering Hitoshi had literally just finger painted basically his entire body it was understandable. Despite this, Izuku took the hands and Hitoshi dragged him up a little too hard on purpose so the greenette's body crashed into his own. Izuku was now leaning into him.

Hitoshi started threading his hands through the green curls to comb. "Do you want to tell me what happened now?"

Izuku nodded, slowly going back to being himself, "W-when I was done with qu-quirk analysis c-class I was w-walking through the h-halls on my way to th-the dorms. I was gonna g-get you so we could m-maybe go to a movie or s-something. Th-then someone cornered m-me and told m-me th-that I could never be a h-hero and I was worthless. H-he told m-me that I only g-got into UA out of p-pity. H-he said I-I should j-just dr-drop out and w-work as a g-garbage collector because I'd be wh-where I belong, with the tr-trash. H-he said i-if I got f-fired I-I sh-should give up and k-k-kill my-mys-self. He s-said that w-would d-do the w-world a f-favor and g-get r-rid of an u-ugly f-face. Th-then h-he p-put all my-my b-ones ou-out-t of p-pl-place w-with h-his qu-quirk one at a t-time th-then p-put th-them ba-back to-together s-so th-there would be n-no evidence."

Hitoshi just stared at Izuku, dumbfounded. Then sucked in a breath, "Izuku, that's-"

"D-do you h-hate me n-now, Toshi?" Izuku stuttered, avoiding Hitoshi's eyes.

Hitoshi cupped his face and moved it so it was facing Hitoshi. "No no no, how could I ever hate you?"

"You pr-probably r-realize how w-worthless I am n-now," Izuku said.

"No, Izuku, I love you and that will never change, no matter what happens," Hitoshi said lovingly, staring deeply into the other's eyes. "Also, that guy is stupid."

Izuku's interest was piqued, "How so?"

Hitoshi pulled his hands from Izuku's face. Izuku frowned then took the other's hands into his own, effectively painting both his hands neon yellow.

Hitoshi snorted, "Well, for starters, UA doesn't just let people in by 'pity.' This is the most prestigious hero school in the whole country for God's sake. Even if it did, you'd be dead on the first day if you didn't have any potential. Garbage collecting is a respectable profession, if you did become one. I hear you can earn quite a bit for being one. But Izuku, I think if you don't decide to be the world's best hero, you would be a pretty fucking good quirk analyst. Probably the best of the best. No one 'belongs' with trash. You belong with us. Your friends, your family, me. Think of how sad we'd all be if you just… left us. Not one of us would be left unscathed by that. We'd all wonder what we could have done better. How would you feel if I suddenly committed suicide? Izuku, you are the most beautiful person I've ever seen. Inside and out. Remember when I came here and said I wasn't here to make friends? You managed to change the way I thought about all humans in general for ten years. That's a pretty big feat. I love you so much, Izuku. I'd be lost without you. 'No evidence' he said? Well, that idiot seems to have forgotten that security cameras exist. He is gonna get thrown out of UA before I have the chance to murder him. Nezu will be sure of that."

Izuku stared at him, then snapped back to his senses, "I love you too."

Yes, Izuku was still hurt and Hitoshi and Izuku had many traumatic experiences to get past, but they would do it together. Hitoshi hoped with all his heart, Izuku never thought about killing himself again, Hitoshi would be heartbroken and so would anyone who had gotten to know him.

For now, they were okay and that was all that mattered.
