NCIS

Bishop and Torres

This takes place at a slightly different AU than the current show. Bishop still left after her training with Odette. Gibb's boat still exploded and he survived, but Gary Cole never joined the team and there was not a serial killer to contend with.

McGee and Gibbs are fishing in Alaska and Tim mentions how serene it is. He has a plane waiting to take them back home, but Gibbs says he's not leaving. He hasn't felt this much peace since before Kelly and Shannon died. His years at NCIS are coming to end and says "Tim, I love you and there is no one else I trust to take over for me and be in charge at NCIS. I've already spoken to Vance and he agrees, you are the most qualified to be the team leader.

Upon arriving home, Torres and Knight are dusting it up on what made Gibbs tick, McGee being in charge and why did he willingly give up Bishop's desk. Nick replies, "it would take years to figure Gibbs out. I haven't and maybe the other than Ducky, McGee would be the closest to understanding him. Ellie, she has no need for that desk anymore."

Knight says, you mean because she's gone and you aren't sure when she's coming back?"

Nick says, "she left and if she is coming back, I won't be sticking around for that Hallmark moment."

Vance yells down to Torres and says, "until McGee returns, you are in charge and they have a case. Jimmy will meet them downstairs."

After saying goodbye to his boss for nearly 19 years, and almost as many either leaving or dying, he called Vance on the SAT phone and asked for a couple of days off. It will be a long flight and all he wants to do is see Delilah and the twins. Vance tells him Torres has it and to take the week off.

The case was settled by the time McGee returns to the office. Torres's mood has not improved since Bishop 'left'. Knight was qualified enough especially with her experience in running REACT, but in Torres's mind, she was not Bishop and never will be.

Nick knew Odette left with Ellie and does not know which agency her undercover work will be. He's putting all his feelers out there and has contacted everyone he knows who might know where she might be and that includes contacting Tony. He needs someone to train him like Odette did with Ellie and even with his years of UC work, he's pretty sure it won't compare to what Ellie was preparing for. All he knew was NCIS has not been the same without her and he wished they had more than just the talk a while ago. Though he's not sure if it would have changed things, at least the words would be out there. He needed training and if Ziva was with Tony, she could help and may know how to find Odette.

After getting confirmation from Tony, Ziva was with him, she referred him to a trainer before she would even meet with him. He knew he had to wait it out and keep everything to himself, but when the time was right, he would be leaving NCIS and meeting up with Ziva. He realized what a big mistake he made in letting her go and he was going to do whatever he needed to do to find his way back to her.

Several months have gone by and Nick has gotten as much training as he could via stateside. McGee was the boss now, but only Knight and the new kid calls him that. He will always be Tim or McGee to Torres, Jimmy or Vance. Nick asks McGee out for drinks before heading home to Deliah and his growing set of growing toddlers.

Waiting for their order Torres puts a file on the bar in front of McGee. "So this is it? It's time for you to say goodbye?" Nick asks, "how did you know?"

"I still talk to Tony from time to time and he clued me in. He said you talked to Gibbs he said to Tony, 'Rule 91'. I know it's time. Bishop and Gibbs brought in from being UC and you lasted longer than expected, but if there is anyone who can help you find Bishop, it's through Ziva."

"Tim, I'm afraid even if I do find her, she will be so far deep UC, we can't find our way back to each other, or what if she has a family? Am I wasting my time on a fool's errand? Will my heart get broken like before we even had the chance to try?"

"McGee responds, "I don't know buddy, but if you don't try, you will always wonder. I'll let Tony know you are on your way. Good luck." The two men hugged goodbye before Nick left with his go-bag.

While waiting for his flight to board, he made a quick phone call and tell Gibbs goodbye and to thank him for everything he's taught him over the years. He said he was invoking Rule 91 and didn't know when she'd see him again. Gibbs chuckles and replies, "you go get her Nick! Find her and don't take no for an answer. Please give my regards to Ziva, Tim and Tali".

Nick mails letters to everyone to say goodbye and he doesn't know or if he will return.

He boards a flight to Paris with all the necessary reading on the long rip and hopes Ziva has he up her end of the bargain. He's hoping for good news or at least changes her mind about her cover. If accepted, he hopes to join her and stop pretending how they fell for the other.
