Chapter 4: The Revelation

"Takeru?"
He felt his heart skip a beat when he heard her voice.
"Hikari?"
"Oh thank God this is still your number." She said with relief and looked at everyone before returning her attention to her phone. "Listen, there's something I need to tell you."
"Okay"
"But I think it's better if we meet in person."
"Right."
There was a tone of excitement in his voice, which made Taichi laugh and Hikari feel embarrassed and sad for the blonde.
"Can we meet tonight?"
"Sure!"
"Okay, I'll text you the address."
"Alright."
"I'll see you tonight. Bye."
"Bye."
"Did he actually think you were gonna ask him out?"
"Taichi, stop mocking him."
"I had no idea he still had feelings for me after all these years. This was a bad idea, I don't think I can do it."
"Hikari, this isn't about you and Takeru. It's about Sora and Yamato. Besides, we are going to meet him with you."
"I know, but shouldn't we let them solve this out?"
"We've talked about this, Hikari." Mimi said. "Sora is running away from the problem and it's not the right thing to do."
"But that's her problem. It's their problem."
"You don't have to do if you don't want to, Hikari. But there's no turning back now."
"You know she won't forgive us for this, right?"
"She can't take this away from Yamato. I know she's still hurt over what happened, but she needs to be rational about this."
"I don't know, Mimi." Taichi said." She might think we betrayed her."
"Okay, I'll talk to Takeru later today myself. This is for Yumi, remember?"
"I'm afraid of the consequences this will bring."
"We can only hope she won't be too mad at us." Hikari said as sent the text message to Takeru.
"Takeru's got the address."
"Great, now let's go get ready."

"Who was it?" Yamato asked when his brother ended the call.
"Hikari."
"No wonder you look pale. What did she want?"
"She didn't say. She asked me to meet her tonight because she has something to say."
The older blonde raised an eyebrow. "It must be something serious for her to do this. She didn't even give you a hint?"
"No." Takeru sat down next to his brother. "You think maybe she wants...?"
"What? To get back with you?"
The blonde just shook his head affirmatively.
"You want that, don't you?"
"Just as you want to get back with the love of your life, aka Sora."
Yamato rolled his eyes. "Not again, Takeru."
"See? You don't even deny it!"
"Why are you making this about me? This is about you."
"Because you're saying something to me and your eyes say something else."
"I'm saying this for the very last time. I don't want to get back with Sora, and neither does she. She's engaged. And our moment has passed, life goes on."
"You promised to call her."
"Takeru." Yamato sighed and rubbed his face. "I'm going to take a shower."
"Yeah, I need to get ready for tonight."

It was already noon when Hikari, Taichi arrived at their building. Koushiro lived not too far from them in Odaiba and Mimi went to the TV station because of a meeting.
"Hikari!" Ken called her as he crossed the street and walked to them.
"Hi." She greeted him with a tender smile.
"Hello, brother-in-law." Taichi said in a laid-back way. "I'll leave the love-birds alone. I'll be upstairs if you need me."
"Try not to make a mess in our apartment." Hikari said as her boyfriend wrapped his arms around her.
"I never do." Her brother replied in a playful tone.
"What are you doing here?"
"It's my lunch break and I thought I could spend it with my girlfriend. I wasn't sure if you'd be back by now."
"I'd love to." She replied with a smile. "I kinda need that right now."
"Really? What happened?"
"I'm afraid I might do something bad." She reached out for his hand and they headed to his car.
"What thing, Hikari? You could never do something bad."
"I feel guilty, Ken."
"Tell me what you did. Maybe we can work something out."
"I called Takeru and invited him for dinner."
"Wait, what? Your ex?"
"The only and one."
"Does that mean you're breaking up with me?"
"No!" She replied right away. "Not even for a million dollars. We're trying to help Sora. Well, that's what I'm trying to believe anyway."
"I'm lost. How is meeting your ex helping Sora?"
"We're telling him about Yumi."
"What?!"
"I know… bad, right?"
"Hikari, this isn't your business."
"That's true, and I tried to talk Mimi out of this. But she's so determined to tell Yamato about his daughter. None of us has the courage to tell him directly, but Takeru definitely will. Mimi hopes he will go after Sora in England."
"What a mess you all got into. Imagine how she will react when she finds out."
"Exactly. And now I can't get out."
Ken placed his hand over hers and she looked at him. "Calm down, everything's gonna be fine."
"How can you stay so calm?"
"I just hope everything will work out in the end."
"I wish I could be as positive as you are."
"I can teach you." He said with a smile. "Would you like me to go with you?"
"Yes, please! Taichi and the others will be there too, but I really need my boyfriend around."
"You got it. After lunch we could hang out at my place until we meet Takeru."
"I like that." She gently grabbed him by the collar and pulled him into her, kissing him passionately.

Taichi was lying on the couch flipping through the channels, extremely bored there was nothing good on TV at the time. He couldn't stop thinking of Hikari's reasons for wanting to drop the plan. A lump was forming on his throat as he began to feel guilty himself. To what extent was he allowed to go without invading Sora's and the guy who once used to be his best friend's privacies? Taking a deep breath, he stood up and went to the kitchen. He opened the fridge and noticed everything was neatly organized. Hikari. He's been living with his sister for about six months now. At first, he was reluctant about it, since he was used to live by himself for quite a few years. But his mother and his sister could be very persuasive people and they ended up convincing him. He had to admit he missed a roommate, but a sister can be very intimidating at times. He can't bring an affair over because he can be rather loud and she's sleeping next door. Not that he brought many girls home; he didn't need it. There was this one girl who got his heart in a way he couldn't imagine. They were still trying to figure out what they were, but he was sure she was the one. Taichi grabbed a beer and went back to the living room with a smile on his face. He sat down and grabbed his phone, looking at a picture of her as his wallpaper. He stared at it for a few minutes, before flipping through the channels once more until he saw a soccer game on.

Hikari slowly opened her eyes. She looked through the window with a confused look on her face. When it hit her, she sat down right away, not caring she was naked. She grabbed her phone to look at the time and her eyes widened.
"Ken, baby." She gently rocked him on the other side of the bed. "Wake up."
The blue haired man moaned. "What?"
"We need to go. We have to meet Takeru soon."
"What a way to kill the mood after we had amazing sex." He mumbled.
The woman felt her face blush. "We need to get ready."
He opened his eyes and pulled her closer to him, whispering in her ear. "Is there time for a second round?"
"No, we actually need to go." She tried to sound as steady as she could, but his hands playing with her breasts weren't helping her and she let out a soft moan. "Ken, please."
"Are you enjoying that, huh?" He whispered seductively as he kissed her neck.
Hikari closed her eyes and let herself enjoy the moment. She put her hands on his back and tightened her grip on his body when he moved his mouth to her boobs, sitting on her lap. He moaned in pain during his foreplay when he felt her nails on his skin, but didn't move away an inch for his girlfriend. Hikari threw her head back and Ken gave a satisfied smile. He made all his way up to her mouth, kissing her passionately yet urgently as he laid her down on his bed, covering her with his own body.
"Baby." Hikari said and her voice almost failed. "We really need to go, but I promise we can do the round two later."
"Okay, okay." Ken gave up and pulled away from her. "But I won't forget that promise."

"So, how do I look?" Takeru asked his brother as he checked himself in the mirror inside his wardrobe.
"You look hot." Yamato was leaned against his elbows in his bed and reacted at his brother's raised eyebrow. "What? You look hot for Hikari. Geez."
"I'm sorry if I still find it weird when you say these things."
"That's because you're close minded for some things."
"Right." He turned his attention back to the mirror. "Or maybe you're way too open minded."
"It's possible." Yamato seemed to be thinking for a moment. "Wait, I have something that can match your outfit."
He stood up and headed to his bedroom. Takeru kept on checking himself on the mirror. He was wearing a white shirt, fancy dark gray pants and social black shoes. He was folding the shirt around his wrist because it was a little long when he looked over and saw his brother coming with a hat.
"Oh no!"
"What's wrong with it?"
"It's my fucking old white hat. How is that supposed to match this outfit?"
"You're right." Yamato smirked. "I was just messing with you. It's actually this one."
He put a black hat on Takeru's head. The soon-to-be writer shook his head as he watched himself with the item.
"It doesn't look bad." He concluded. "Wait, I remember this hat."
"You would." The rock star sat on the edge of the bed. "It's yours. You used to wear it when you were fourteen."
"That was like seven years ago." Takeru immediately took it off. "It's probably full of dirty."
"Of course not!" Yamato protested. "I kept it when you decided to throw it away. It's a nice hat."
"You kept it?! Why?"
"It's a cool one. Plus, it was expensive enough to keep it."
"So that's why I remembered when you gave an interview wearing it."
"I gave a lot of them wearing it. But you can have it again if you want to."
"Thanks, I guess." He looked at the accessory in his hands and put it back on.
"But Takeru…"
"What?"
"Promise me you won't get your hopes high on this, okay? It may not be what you're hoping for and I don't want to see you disappointed once again."
"Don't worry about it, brother. I learnt not to. But you think it could be something else?"
"So much for not getting your hopes high, huh?" Yamato lay on the bed. "But yeah, I think it's possible since she had a boyfriend."
Takeru remained silent. He was clearly having doubts whether to go or not right now.
"But hey, you'll never know." The older brother tried to cheer him up.
"No, you're right." He finally said. "I'm going to cancel it. It was a mistake after all."
"Are you sure?"
"No." He looked down. "I'm such a failure."
"You're not. Hikari's the one who lost, because she didn't realize how amazing you are."
Takeru smiled weakly. "Thanks."

Hikari, Ken, Taichi, Mimi and Koushiro were already at the restaurant waiting for Takeru. The brunette man felt rather embarrassed with the two couples being all lovey-dovey and began to wish his affair or maybe his girlfriend was there too. He didn't want to bring her into this mess though.
"Could you please stop making out? It's making me feel awkward."
"Poor Taichi has no one to make out with." Mimi mocked.
"The hell I don't. I just don't want to get her involved into this."
"What do you mean you have someone? You never told me!" Hikari said.
"We're still figuring out what we are and where we stand."
"My God, she'll be just a number like all the other women."
"I actually feel she's the one though."
"WHAT?!" She yelled and immediately covered her mouth, looking around and seeing some heads turning towards their table. "So this is more serious than I thought."
"When are you introducing her to us?"
"Soon enough, I hope. Sora liked her."
"Wait, Sora knows her and I don't?! I feel hurt."
"She met Akiko by accident." Taichi immediately cursed himself for letting her name slip.
"So Akiko is her name?"
"There's no hiding now. Yes, it is."
His sister opened her mouth to say something when she saw a blonde walking in.
"He's here!" She waved her hand in the air to get his attention.
He could barely hide his smile when he saw her, but it quickly faded away when he saw the other four people, especially him.
"Hello, Takeru." She said sympathetically.
"Hello, Hikari." His tone was rather cold. "Guys."
"Wow, you look cute!" Mimi said without thinking.
"Thank you, I guess." His cheeks blushed a little. "So what do you have to tell me?"
"It's me, actually." The TV show host spoke again.
"Well, what is it?"
"You might want to sit down for this one."
"Mimi, are you really sure you want to do this? We can still drop it." Taichi asked.
"Taichi, they deserve to know."
"You know Sora's gonna be mad at all of us."
"I know. You all have said it at least ten times already. I'm well aware she's gonna be angry, but I still wanna go through with it."
"Mimi." Koushiro called beside her. "Is it really worth losing her friendship over this?"
"You think she might?"
"If it was me, I'd definitely would. I think she's gonna be hurt for quite some time."
"I have to do it, Kou."
"Okay, just be aware you'll have to deal with the consequences."
"We all will." The brunette woman turned to Takeru again. "Yamato has a daughter."
