Beyond the Walls: The Lost Boy

"There. There are the traitors." A sullen voice from a little boy said pointing at a man and woman.

"Don't move!" Yelled that officers as they came through the door to grab the couple.

"Why son?" The father said. "You were meant for greatness!" The father was roughly grabbed to be put in cuffs.

The mother only had tears in her eyes. Even though the boy felt neglected and used by his parents he looked at them with sadness in his eyes. Not for them or himself. But for his brother.

"Nooo!" Screamed a high pitch voice. A boy no older than five ran from one of the back rooms of their tiny home and rushed the officer holding onto the mother. "Don't do this!"

The older sibling tried to stop the younger, dark haired one but was stopped when a third officer rushed in.

"No, don't hurt him!"

"He is just a child, he has nothing to do with it!"

The older brother and Mother yelled at the same time. The youngest was fighting the officer that held on to the woman. He was punching his legs and aimed for his groin. Even going as far as to bite him.

"Ow you devil!" The officer yelled out. The first officer who already took the man out and put him up ran back in to grab the boy.

"Please stop! He isn't a traitor!" The blonde boy called out to the officer. Though it did not matter, the officer locked the boy's hands up as well.

"He is a devil who attacked an officer!" The mother was now crying and the officer was having to carry the struggling and crying boy. "Know your place cadet!" The blonde boy could only look on for fear of something happening to him as well.

"Zeke you traitor!" The boy, no older than five, yelled out. "I hate you! I hate you!"

Zeke could only watch as his little brother and parents were taken away to who knows where. He felt a single tear slide down his cheek. Not for his parents but for his innocent baby brother.

"There it is okay child." The mascaline voice of Tom Ksaver said as he put his hand on Zeke's shoulder. "All will be okay."

The boy only turned and cried harder into the man's side. The only person he saw as his parent figure. The only adult that actually cared for him.

"We will meet again brother." Zeke whimpered softly. "I will make sure of this."

Year: 849

49th Exterior Scouting Mission

"You smell that?" Miche asks Hange as they talked.

"I do not know why you ask that knowing no one has a better sense of smell than you." Hange said as she adjusted her glasses. "Personally I still can't get over-"

"A titan that way!" Miche interrupted Hange as she was about to go off on one of her speeches.

"Titan!" Hange looked to the little forest where Miche pointed. "Wooohoo!" She said as she grabbed a horse to pursue the titan.

"Levi!" Erwin shouted. "Take Oruo and Petra and follow Hange. Make sure she doesn't get in trouble."

Without a word, part of squad Levi followed after the section commander. The only issue was the sizable lead she had on them.

"Hey you! Come back!" Hange yelled out to the titan. "I want to get to know you!"

The titan turned to her and as it went in for the chase Hange only smiled and laughed as she tried to lead it out of the forest. As she got some distance from the forest she noticed the titan turned back into it.

"Ugh, where are you going?" She groaned out annoyed by the abnormal behavior.

She followed the titan to a tree and the most abnormal thing she ever witnessed from a titan happened. It kept hitting it's head on the tree. Over and Over again it nearly started to rip the heated flesh off.

"Hey! Stop!" Hange yelled out as she got off her horse. "Stop hurting yourself!"

Then she heard it. The sound of ODM gear getting attached to the abnormal titan. It latched onto the neck and she noticed Oruo go in for the kill.

"No Oruo don't!" Oruo hesitated and that nearly costed him. The titan grabbed him and would have been devoured if not for Levi's quick action. Faster than anyone could comprehend the titan's arm was cut off and the head followed shortly after. "Ugh Levi why?!"

"Are you stupid?" Levi seethed. "You nearly got one of my squadmates killed!" He stated to Hange.

"The titan wouldn't have had to die if you would have just stayed back!" Hange fought back. Though she knew the life of the titan wasn't worth the life of the accomplished soldier.

"If you would stop-"

"Guys look at this!" Petra said, interrupting Levi. She was near the tree the titan beated it's head on. She then pulled out a notebook.

"What is it?" A shaken but okay Oruo asked.

"A journal." The redhead looked at the body in the tree and noticed the scout uniform. "A scouts journal."

"Here let me look." As Squad Levi investigated the scout body and Hange looked at the book. Non of them noticed the approaching titans.

"Incoming!" Levi was the first to notice as two 4 meter class titans approached them. One was crawling as the other slowly walked.

"Hange watch out!" Petra called as Squad Levi used their ODM gear to move out of the way.

"Huh!" Hange was too engrossed into the book to notice the one crawling on all fours crawl right in front of her. As it went to grab her a giant foot slammed into the back of the titans neck instantly killing it.

The others didn't hear anything approaching but looking to the section commander they noticed a 15 meter class titan that just saved her. It was packed with muscle and lithe like a fighter. It's hair was dark and went past it's eyes. The odd features the vetern scouts noted were the pointed ears, the skeletal face with high cheekbones and lipless mouth, and most importantly the shining green orbs that looked like beacons. The scouts were so shocked by it saving Hange from certain death they didn't have time to react as it kicked the other titan's head off killing that one. It turned around and looked directly behind squad Levi where they were some feet away and punched as another 15 meter approached from behind. The 15 meter didn't react in time as it was getting up from the ground before it's neck was stepped on destroying the nape.

Hange only looked on with interest and slight terror as the green eyed titan approached her and crouched. It looked at her, not as food but as interest. She couldn't move under that hypnotizing stare. Slowly the titan brought it's hand out and put it's index finger out and very lightly tapped her on the head. It even looked like it was smiling with it's closed eyes, head tilted to the side, but the mouth didn't move with missing cheeks and lips.

"Care...ful." The titan said. Struggling to say it. It got up and walked away towards the direction the 4 meter titans came from.

All the scouts, including humanity's greatest warrior, looked on with disbelief. Never have anyone seen a titan kill other titans. It was like he knew exactly where to hit them. But no one has ever heard a titan speak. At least as far as they know for now.

"Captain! What are your orders?" A terrified Petra asked the usual stoic Levi. Though he truly didn't have words.

"We follow it!" Hange announced. She was already on her way to get her horse.

"Are you insane!" Orou shouted. "That thing could just be another abnormal thing waiting to kill us all!"

"That is a chance I am willing to take!" The scientist shouted behind the titan prints.

"Captain! Your orders?" The redhead asked.

"Follow after and make sure the section commander is not injured at all costs." Levi didn't like it but he also wanted to figure out just why did that titan not kill them. Hell it even went as far as to speak and pat a frozen Hange.

"Yes sir!" Both his squad mates saluted and followed after the crazy section commander.

It took nearly 2 hours before they saw anything. They lost the tracks and found a clearing but they didn't notice one odd thing. A smoke trail. As if someone started a fire nearby. They went in the direction of it until they hit another clearing with a stream.

"Huh fresh water." Hange noted looking at the water. She got off her horse to allow it rest and water. The other three did the same.

"It is getting late, we should head back." Levi stated. "Erwin is probably pulling his hair out as we speak."

"But where could that titan have gone?" Hange looked at the sky for anything. Maybe a mop of hair over the trees or another smoke trail. She looked around thoughtfully.

"I don't know." Levi picked his shoe up that had dirt all over it. "But I want to bathe."

"Oi! Just take a dip unless you are self conscious." Hange shot at Levi.

"Watch it with four eyes!" Levi shot at her, shaking the dirt off his boot.

"Captain, I think someone beat you to the punch." Petra said, pointing further down. "Look!"

All four soldiers looked further down and saw something that surprised the hell out of all of them. There indeed was someone there. In Fact he looked at peace. It was a man but theat is all they could make out.

"Hey you!" Hange said as she ran further down stream.

"Hmm?" The relaxing man stood up and was honestly surprised to see 4 armed people approaching him. One looked like she might pass out from excitement and the other three were on guard. Especially the smaller dark haired man with an neckerchief.

"What are you doing outside the walls? Are you insane?" The taller man pretty much yelled at him. He had greying hair and looked like he was trying to be like the smaller man.

"Walls? What are you talking about?" The man asked, scratching his wet hair.

Getting closer Hange noticed something strange. For one the man was out here alone and not even scared of the titans that could be lurking around or the armed soldiers approaching him. Second, he looked familiar. The green eyes, the defiend body, and the dark hairstyle matched a certain titan they were chasing but that couldn't be possible. Titans and Humans are two separate species. Right?

"I don't know what you are talking about." It seemed Orou was still screaming at him because the questing keeps confusing the green eyed man.

"Orou enough." Petra stated quietly to calm the situation.

"But-!" The man bit his tongue as he yelled out.

"That is what you get." The female stated. She looked back at the bathing name. "Lets start with a name. Do you have a name?"

"It's…" The man trailed off rubbing his head like he was trying to remember his name. "Eren. My name is Eren."

"Eren. Do you have a family name?" Hange was interested as well. From what she picked up this stranger doesn't even know his name let alone the walls that house humanity.

"No." The man looked down with saddened eyes. "I'm all alone."

Hange noticed Levi's eyebrow quirk. She picked up that even he felt sorry for the name.

"Well Eren, nice to meet you." Petra held out her hand to the wet man. He moved closer, partially getting out of the water leaving him bare to the world. "Ohh!" The redhead blushed and Hange raised an eyebrow at the nude male. Orou only looked away and Levi looked unimpressed as always.

"Oh sorry I don't have any clothes." The man covered his privates. "They don't fit me anymore." Hange was interested at hearing that. Just how long has this man been out here.

"Ah hear, have this then." Petra said as she took her cape off to wrap around the man's waist. "There thats better."

"Thank you." The man smiled at her. He closed his eyes and tilted his head. Hange found another thing that linked this man and that abnormal titan. The same mannerisms.

"Anyways this is Orou." Said man was holding his tongue. "Our captain Levi." The man was still sizing the Eren up watching for any threat. "And-"

"Section Commander Hange!" The brunette exclaimed, holding her hand out. "Tell me how did you get all the way out here? How long have you been out here? Did you see a 15 meter class titan comes this way?"

Eren only laughed and smiled. He was honestly just happy to see other people. He couldn't even remember seeing anyone out here, well alive ones.

"Enough! We need to get back to the Commander before he sends a search party." Levi stated. He wanted to know more but being outside the walls for too long can compromise them.

"Don't worry Levi." A strong voice said. "We already found you." The soldiers turned to the male voice. Instantly recognizing Erwin's voice. Eren only looked at the man and the commander looked at the stranger. "Bring a wagon! We are taking him back to Wall Rose!"

With that everyone got to work. The Orou, Petra, and Levi went to their horses as Hange gave the stranger one last long glance and went to grab her horse. The commander of the Scouts only looked at the stranger sizing him up. He already started forming questions to ask.
