Under That Tough Skin

Acxa never understood how humans were so touchy with each other. And the human who seemed the most touchy with her was Veronica. Granted Acxa didn't mind Veronica's company most of the time, she actually found her rather pleasant to be around, a whole lot more than some other members of her team. But Veronica would always hug her as a form of greeting or farewell, pull her in by the arm, or throw her arm around the half-Galra's shoulders when the human would tell a joke.

Acxa didn't exactly mind the contact but she didn't understand it either. In her mind the only people who you should touch were family, lovers or your enemies in combat. Her and Acxa were none of those. So why did she still find herself craving to those touches, relishing in them, wishing they would go on just for little longer.

"Hello, Earth to Acxa." Veronica waived a hand in front of Acxa's face. This made her jump a bit and got Veronica to laugh. It sounded pretty. Acxa always thought that, "You doing ok? You spaced out on me."

Acxa looked trough the window to the stars. Was she just missing being up there? Did the lack of combat make her weak? No, she shook her head, that wasn't it. It wasn't about space or combat. What got to her more than anything was the human woman she'd been sharing a living space with for months now. Acxa wasn't on Earth for long periods of time, but when she was here she needed somewhere to stay. Veronica offered her place since she had a spare bedroom and the cadet liked the grumpy alien's company.

"I'm fine. Its just... your hands." Acxa mumbled, not quite knowing what to say.

The Earthling lifted a brow at her and chuckled, "My hands?"

"Yes. Could you... I'd like you to..." Acxa glanced down at Veronica's hands on her lap. When she noticed she was staring she quickly looked away, a deep purple blush dusting her cheek.

"Oh." Veronica blushed as well. She always felt like Acxa liked her lingering touches even though she never admitted it. But she never thought Acxa would ask to be touched, "Here."

With gentle hands Veronica cupped the sides of Acxa's head and slowly eased it down in her lap. Acxa felt her blush deepen and she was grateful for her hair hiding her face. She felt Veronica's hands in her hair, her cheek, over her shoulders and hip. The soldier melted into the touch, savoring every bit of it before she would be gone in space for months without feeling that gentle touch.
