How does Time travel in oblivion?
this has been a question that has been driving me mad for the last few months.
Does is pass at the same rate as it does on Nirn or does it pass at the discretion of the Daedric Princes.
Going off the lore and the time line that passes on Nirn, the Various Era's are as follows:
Dawn Era-starting with The creation of the universe, ending with Lorkhan's Punishment.
Merethic Era 2500 years before the First Era, the various races migrated across territories, Dragon war. Concludes with Eplear founding the Camoran Dynasty. this is also considered to beginning of time
1st Era = 1st Era Year 0 - 1st Era year 2920
2nd Era = 2nd Era year 0 - 2nd Era Year 896
3rd Era = 3rd Era Year 0 - 3rd Era Year 432
4th Era = 4th Era Year 0 4th Era Year 201 ... Continuing
what mortals would call 'Measured time' begins in the Merethic Era, 2500 years before the first Era and counts down till Era 1 Year 0.
if we where to write this down Linier the Merethic Era would be written as -2500 and remain as negative untill the 1st Era starts.
Back to the Dawn Era.
We need to understand where time originated and when the realms of oblivion where created.
Going off the information from UESP and Elder Scrolls Fandom, the concept of Time is brought about by the being Auri-El/Akatosh and in doing so allows the other Et'Ada to form their own distinct, identities. At this point the various plans of existence are still being created and time "Followed and incomprehensible, nonlinear path" -Elder scrolls FAndom, "Dawn Era"-
At this point, Lorkhan has proposed the mundus to the Et'Ada. those who committed to the project Where the Aedra, later the divines
those who where opposed where the Daedra and Created their own realms of oblivion.
it needs to be said that various realms and planes already existed by this point- Read Fandom-Dawn Era-Lorkhans Plan-
With this in mind Realms like the Soul Cairn that do not have a daedric prince may already exist.
back on point.
Aedra make Mundus
Daedra make their own realms "over which they can have total control" the great construction, UESP.
Time is still not linear.
We do not know if all realms where completed at the same time.
what we do know is that the dawn Era concludes with the lorkhans punishment and with it time becomes linear.
NOW!
The concept of time exists before the realms of oblivion are created.
The Daedra needed the concept to become their own separate entities. Meaning that in these realms of oblivion there is a concept of time but it passes at the princes discretion.
If linear time is marked by the punishment of lorkhan, at 2500 years MUNDUS TIME
does this apply to the other realms?
if so, Linear time begins at the same point across all realms but moves at different rates - at the discretion of the daedric prince.
THE CONCEPT
If linear time does apply to the daedric princes, how many nirn days pass in cold harbour,
To make this part simpler, i applied the DAEDRIC REALMS to the bodies in our solar system.
1 rotation is a day
1 orbit around the sun is a year
Using apocrypha as an example,
Apocrypha = Charon (Pluto's biggest moon)
6.4 Earth days = 1 orbit/year on Charon/Apocrypha
If you like this concept, please add a comment. and if you want me to add more...
HOW LONG WAS MIRAAK IN APOCRYPHA FOR?
