Shoestring Miracle

Summary: Josslyn knows what she has to do in a couple of minutes of calm she has. There's still one person who deserves to know that Sonny is alive.

Author's Note: Look, Sonny and Spencer were close. Sonny was one of Spencer's only connections to his beloved mother. Spencer should've definitely been there to see Sonny. I'm just fixing what the show didn't give us.

Josslyn Jacks excuses herself to the kitchen, throwing a beaming smile her family's way before she leaves the room, taking her small purse with her. It's once she's alone that she pulls her cellphone from her bag and begins to type out a message with trembling fingers, hitting send as soon as she's finished. Then, she heads up the stairs to her room to change out of her dress and heels. Her ringtone sounds out then and Josslyn grabs her phone back up, pressing the answer button and putting it to her ear.

"What's going on, Josslyn?" Spencer Cassadine asks, voice full of confusion. "What do I need to see at Uncle Sonny's old house?"

The blonde bites back a groan and answers, "Listen, this really isn't something to discuss over the phone, but it's important. Just...please come."

He's silent for a few moments before he speaks once more. "Alright. I'll be there in around ten minutes." He answers, his curiosity piqued by how Josslyn was practically pleading with him. With that, he ends the call and goes out to the car.

Josslyn lets out a breath and heads back down the stairs, meeting Kristina's questioning face at the end of them.

"Where have you been?" She inquires in confusion. "I thought you were just going to get yourself something else to drink."

The blonde sighs, looking over to where Sonny is still talking with the rest of the family. "I called Spencer. I realized that he doesn't know that Sonny's back and he deserves to. I didn't tell him what was up, but that he needed to come here. That there was something he needed to see."

Kristina's eyes widen and fill with guilt. "I didn't even think about that!" She gasps. She was never super close with Spencer, not the way he and Josslyn used to be given their age difference. Still though. He was family and it hadn't even crossed her mind to call.

"I didn't at first, either." Josslyn admits guiltily. "But then it just hit me. He and I have been butting heads here lately because of his behavior, but he does deserve to know. He was definitely surprised that I called and was confused on why I couldn't tell him whatever it was on the phone, but he should just about be here."

As if on cue, the doorbell rings and Josslyn goes to answer it, Kristina following closely behind. Spencer stands there, shuffling from foot to foot, hands in his pockets. He opens his mouth to speak to the blonde when he notices the girl just behind her. His dark eyes fill with confusion. "What's going on?" He asks suspiciously, eyeing Kristina for a few minutes before his gaze flicker back to the younger girl.

Kristina reaches out, wrapping a hand around one of his upper arms and tugs him inside so that Josslyn could shut the door.

Josslyn is quiet for a few moments before she speaks. "You're probably going to freak out a little bit when you see what's in the other room." She informs him slowly. "It's nothing bad. Not at all. Just...unexpected and shocking." She notices the curiosity shining in his eyes and lets out a breath, tilting her head toward the other room.

Spencer followers her lead, hearing familiar laughter as Josslyn opens the doors and she and Kristina step inside. He doesn't see him at first, eyes going from one person in the room to the other. Then, his eyes land on him, the reason Josslyn had told him that he'd be shocked. His uncle sits on the couch between Michael and Dante, Carly standing just across from them, stunned expression still on her face and hand to her heart. Spencer pays the other three no mind though as he steps into the room. "Uncle Sonny?" He almost whispers, voice full of disbelief.

The man in question turns his head and beams at him, familiar dimples flashing as he stands to his feet and walks toward him.

The teenage boy is frozen in his tracks in stunned silence until he feels his uncle's arms wrap around him in a hug. He stifles a sob and hugs the man back, rocking on the balls of his feet.

Josslyn watches the site before her with soft blue eyes, she'd definitely made the right decision in calling Spencer. As irritated as the boy has been making her with his behavior, it's good to see this side of him. She moves away from them to stand by Michael who raises an eyebrow at her which she promptly ignores, watching Spencer and Sonny begin to talk instead. Forgetting the entire mess of Spencer's situation with her best friend and his creepy, possessive girlfriend, Esme. At least for now.
