Chapter 8

It's been a couple of weeks since our talk at the park and any time he's not with the club, he's with me. We've spent the night at the clubhouse and he's still sleeping when I wake up. I get up and head to the kitchen for coffee and head out to the front porch to enjoy my coffee. I'm not out there long, alone, before Hank joins me. "Morning amor." he says as he kisses me and I can't help but smile. "Morning baby." I say and he smiles softly. "How long have you been up?" he asks. "Not long." I tell him before leaning into his side as he puts one hand on my thigh. We sit there in silence and after a bit I speak. "I love you." I tell him. He kisses my temple and says "I love you too." I look at him and say "I was thinking about something." I tell him. "What's that?" he asks, looking at me now. "You said you want to marry me and I believe you. I want to marry you too but I don't have any family other than the club. It wouldn't be much of a wedding." I tell him. "Our family here is all we need. I do want to take you today to meet my mom though." he tells me and I smile and say "I would love that."

After finishing our coffees, we head out to his bike and he takes me to meet his mom. We walk into her house and he calls out "Mom, where are you?" She calls back out "Kitchen mijo." and we head into the kitchen. As we walk in, he hugs her and she looks at me and asks "Who's this?" Hank looks at me and smiles and says "My Old Lady, Amy. Amy, this is my mom, Maria." She looks from me to him and smiles as she looks back at me and pulls me into a hug. "Welcome mija." she tells me and hugs me tighter. As she pulls away, she sees me tearing up a little and asks "What's wrong mija?" I shake my head and say "Just happy." She cups my face and says "Accept nothing but happy." and I nod. As she lets me go, Hank pulls me close to him and we all sit at the kitchen table as Hank gets us all cups of coffee. "So, how did you meet my son?" she asks. "I met him at a club party. I actually met all the guys. A friend practically forced me to come to one of their parties and then abandoned me. Hank sat with me the rest of the night just talking to me." I tell her as I look at him and smile softly. "You remember me telling you about Angel's son?" Hank asks and she nods. "Amy stepped up and was helping with him until we could get his mom back." he tells me and I look down at our hands and my smile falls a little. "What is it mija?" she asks. "The club took me in as family and I was going through a rough time and Hank helped me through it." I tell her and I feel him kiss my temple. "Can I ask what happened?" she asks. "I had a bad childhood. Always being told I was a mistake. To the point where I actually thought that of myself. I...um...tried to kill myself but Hank and the other guys saved me. Started showing me that I mattered and Hank hasn't left my side." I tell her and she takes my other hand and says "You are family now mija. I can tell the way my son looks at you, he loves you. And I can see you love him." she tells me. I look at her and say "I do." She smiles and asks "So when are you getting married?" We laugh a little and Hank says "We've been talking about it but when it does happen, it's just going to be you and the club." She looks at me and says "You don't have to have a lot of people to have a wedding. Did you know that I married your father in the middle of a field with just us, a priest and our two best friends? You grandparents weren't even there." she tells us. I look at Hank and he sees it in my eyes "That what you want?" he asks. "Yeah. I mean...it's simple. Us, Adelita and Angel. A priest." I say and he nods. I look at his mom and ask "Would you be okay with that?" I ask. "As long as you two are happy, I am happy mija." she tells me.

After talking to his mom for a while, we head home. Walking into the kitchen, I get a couple of beers out of the fridge and hand him one. "Were you serious about us getting married like my parents?" he asks. "I mean...yeah. It's simple and romantic and you've told me about how much your parents loved each other and I want a love like that." I tell him. He cups my face and says "We have a love like that amor. And I would love nothing more than to marry you however you want." he tells me. I take a deep breath and I say "Well, then the only thing to say now is...it's someday." He smiles wide before crashing his lips with mine and says "We have a couple of calls to make. We're doing this tomorrow before you change your mind." he tells me. "I won't change my mind but if you want to do this tomorrow, then tomorrow I'm going to marry you." I tell him and he kisses me one more time.

After making a few calls to get things together, I call Adelita and ask her and Angel to be there with us and they agree. Hank calls his mom and she says she will bring the priest. Hank then calls the lawyer to get our marriage license for us. After all calls are made, he leads me to the bedroom and makes love to me all night long before we fall asleep knowing that tomorrow I marry the man of my dreams.
