Ben and Gwen were both sat at the table of a blue motorhome. In the front was their 60-something year old grandfather driving. Ben was gaming on a tablet while Gwen was reading. She looked at her grandpa in the driver's seat.

"Where are we going, Grandpa Max?" she asked.

"We're going to a campsite where my grandpa took me when I was your age," replied Max, chuckling at the memories. "You'll love it."

"I highly doubt that," muttered Ben. "Sounds boring to me."

"Give the place a chance, Ben," Gwen told him. "You're judging it before we even get there."

Ben sighed and continued with his game. Then, from the corner of his eye, he thought he saw something.

"Wait did you see that?" he asked, pressing his face to the glass.

"See what?" asked Gwen, looking up from her book.

"A blue blur just went past!" said Ben. "Must be something really quick!"

"I'm sure it was nothing, Ben," dismissed Max, keeping his eyes on the road.

Ben decided to listen to them but couldn't help thinking he saw something. Then he saw it again. "There it was again!"

"What this time?" groaned Gwen.

"I just saw it! I swear I'm not making this up!" he said.

"I think you might be a little tired," said Max, looking at his grandson in the rearview mirror. "Why don't you rest for a bit?"

Ben let out a frustrated yell. "Alright, fine! I'll deal with this myself!" Then he twisted the omnitrix dial and slammed down on it, engulfing him in green light.

...

Outside the Rustbucket, the light was seen before the door opened, XLR8 dashing out and running ahead.

"I swear it went this way!" he said. "That'll show Gwen and Grandpa!"

He ran as fast as he could before seeing something blue head towards him. "What?" he gasped.

Then the blur ran past him before making a U-turn and running alongside XLR8, revealing it to be a blue hedgehog like Ben had never seen before. "Sup?" said the hedgehog, grinning at the alien.

"What?" gasped XLR8 again. "How are you keeping up with XLR8?"

"Keeping up with you?" laughed the hedgehog. "This is nowhere near my top speed! Wanna see?"

XLR8 grinned. "Are you challenging me?"

The hedgehog smirked and then picked up speed, taking off ahead of the alien. He was quite impressed, but decided not to lose to his new rival and he began to accelerate too, eventually gaining on the speeding hedgehog.

"You look tired," taunted the hedgehog with a grin. "Wanna take a break?"

"I'm not tired!" lied XLR8, who was actually straining right now.

The hedgehog smirked and then took off ahead. "Watch this!" Then he turned around and started running backwards with his arms folded.

XLR8 gasped in shock. "What? How?"

The hedgehog let out a small laugh. "Oh, this is easy."

"I'll show you!" XLR8 grit his teeth and picked up speed. He overtook the hedgehog, who grinned.

"That's it, let's go as fast as we can!" he yelled. "Finally some competition in this world!"

XLR8 ignored him and continued running as the hedgehog chased after him. The alien could feel the hedgehog milliseconds behind him as they sped down the road. He could feel the wind against his face, and he was actually straining. He began to move so fast that blue energy surrounded him.

The blue hedgehog grinned. "That's more like it! Come on, faster!"

XLR8 let out a battle cry of sorts and he began to leave the hedgehog in his dust when...BEEP BEEP BEEP Ben finds himself stumbling over as he reverts to human form. "Whoa!" he cried as he was about to hit the floor, but the hedgehog caught him in time.

"You're a human?" gasped the hedgehog, quite surprised.

"Yeah," replied Ben, before getting up. "Now who are you? What are you doing here?"

"Me?" the hedgehog smirked and pointed at himself with his thumb. "The name's Sonic. Sonic the hedgehog. I'm the fastest thing of my world. But I dont remember much about how I got here. Now who are you?"

"Me? I'm Ben Tennyson, the hero of this planet," introduced Ben, still quite wary of the hedgehog in front of him. "You'd better not try anything pal, because my alien arsenal is destined to kick your butt!"

"Alien arsenal? So you mean there's more than one?"

"Thousands to be exact," replied Ben, before looking at his watch. "Unfortunately I've only used about 20 of them."

"I bet none of them can beat me," smirked Sonic.

"Wanna bet?"

"Go on, show me what you've got!" cried Sonic, before getting into a battle stance.

Ben grinned. "Finally, someone who's willing to fight!" He then began to rotate the omnitrix a couple of times. "Alright, let's see. Who am I gonna use? Slapback? Na. Jetray. Not really in the mood for him. Diamondhead? Yes!" He slammed down on the dial.

Sonic covered his eyes from the flash, and when he looked, he saw a crystal fist heading towards him. He only had a split second to avoid it, jumping to the side. He looked up at his attacker, now a strong-looking crystal alien with shards on his back. "Cool."

"Cool is right!" yelled Diamondhead as he transformed his right hand into a sword, bringing it down on his new enemy. The hedgehog dodged to the side before kicking up in the air with both feet, landing a hit on the alien's face and knocking him back slightly. While the alien recovered, Sonic became a ball and spun towards him. Diamondhead instinctively put up his sword arm to block the attack, forcing Sonic to rebound.

"Ha!" cried Sonic, running forward and landing a punch in the alien's waist. Diamondhead stood there, unaffected by the punch. There was a brief silence before Sonic yelped in pain from punching solid crystal. With his opponent clutching his wound, Diamondhead saw his opportunity and swung his left arm, knocking Sonic into the air. As Sonic came down, Diamondhead got to one knee and placed his hands into the ground, before a slab rose from the ground and launched him in the air. He reached Sonic's height and used both fists to hammer Sonic down towards the ground. The hedgehog couldn't do anything and hit the ground, the impact making a small crater.

Diamondhead landed on the edge of the crater and approached Sonic, who lay motionless on the floor. "Oops. I may have overdid it there..."

Then he heard chuckling. He saw Sonic shaking slightly on the ground, then the hedgehog turned onto his back, showing he was laughing. "What's so funny?" asked Diamondhead, reverting. "I just kicked your ass."

"I haven't had this much fun in a long time," said Sonic, standing up and holding his hand out. "You wiped the floor with me. I respect any opponent who can beat me."

Ben looked at the hand curiously for a moment before he grinned and shook it. "I respect you two."

The two heroes grinned, knowing this was the possible start of something.
