Survivor - Caribbean
Chapter 1 - The Marooning & Day 1
It is that time again. Time to start yet another Survivor fanmade season for my Fanfiction series. Greetings, everyone. I'm KoopalingFan and welcome to my fourth season of Survivor, Survivor - Caribbean! I am so excited to finally start this just around the summer time. So to brighten the mood just for this, maybe play some uptempo music and enjoy the warmer weather out there.
For new readers: For those of you who are only just discovering this series, welcome to my fanmade Survivor series. This time, I am using video game characters. They are from Smash for the most part, with a couple miscellaneous characters, explaining why I consider this is a crossover series. This series is made to see your favorite video game character in action as he/she competes for the million dollar prize!
Now, for those of you who don't even know what Survivor is, I'm gonna give you a brief summary so that you know what you are getting yourselves into. Survivor is actually a reality TV show that is ongoing to this day with 40+ seasons where contestants are put into teams as they live in a stranded location in the world (usually a beach) where they have to make their own shelter, find their own food, etc. Every few days there would be a challenge, and whatever team loses has to vote somebody off of their tribe. Eventually, only one person will remain in order to have the title of Sole Survivor and a million dollar check that goes along with it.
In order to have a better understanding though, like the show itself and my series, I believe the best thing to do is to learn as we go to see what the show is all about so that you have an idea what's going on. Reminder, this is my fourth season. However, it is not a requirement to read the previous three seasons before this. But, if you wanna know where your favorite video game character is, check my profile and season if he/she is any of the previous seasons. (By the way, the host is Master Hand.)
For old readers: Welcome back! I'm here again, lol. First of all, thank you so much for sticking around, whether you've been here since day one, or if you just discovered my last season. Now, I got something to tell you. You probably already know for this, but just to remind you, this is my very last season before my first All Star season will take place (in the same location as this one) where five people from each season including Caribbean will come back. So if there was a character that you really enjoyed, maybe he/she has a decent chance to come back! But aside from that, this season we're going back to the basics. No specific theme or anything, it's just gonna be about the location. I know that the beach is already the average place the castaways travel to, but this is the Caribbean we're talking about. Can't get anymore tropical than this lol. So I brought in 20 new castaways that I just thought could be really fun in their own way.
With all that being said, here are the 20 castaways that are going to compete this season: Yoshi (from Super Mario), King K. Rool (from Donkey Kong Country), Meta Knight and Kawasaki (from Kirby), Charizard (Pokemon), Ridley (from Metroid), Robin (Male), Corrin (Female), and Chrom (from Fire Emblem), Vector the Crocodile (from Sonic the Hedgehog), Doc Louis (from Punch-Out!), Ken (from Street Fighter), Rodin (from Bayonetta), Shield Knight (from Shovel Knight), Simon Belmont (from Castlevania), Joker (from Persona 5), Mangle and Springtrap (from Five Night's at Freddy's), Banjo (from Banjo-Kazooie), and Sans (from Undertale).
FNAF and Undertale are the two miscellaneous franchises and Undertale is the latest series to be added to this. And for the FNAF characters, since this series is basically AU, the FNAF characters are anthropomorphic animals like Vector for example, and not animatronics like they are in the games. And their real names are Valery "Val" Ramos and Kevin Davis. But he's still going to go by "Springtrap" as a nickname. And also, none of these castaways that are competing this season know each other. But they have seen the three previous seasons already, so they might mention a couple names (without spoilers though).
(And for those of you who might be waiting for my Survivor intro on YouTube for this season, don't worry. It is coming. Let's just say that I'm waiting for the right time. ;-) )
Alright... With all that out of the way,... let's get this started! Caribbean, here we come!
~KF
EPISODE 1: The Worst Case Scenario
A montage of the next Survivor location was shown on screen.
We are making our way through the Caribbean Sea, just southeast of the Gulf of Mexico traveling to the Dominican Republic. It is one of about seven hundred islands of a region that is called, 'the Caribbean'.
It was now focusing on the Dominican Republic specifically, as it shown footage of the island in particular, the beaches, the jungle, and even its citizens.
Located just east of Central America, this region is known for being one of the most tropical places in the world. It is also known for its tourism and biodiversity including many species of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, turtles, and sharks.
There were even over a hundred species that were found nowhere else in the world.
It is truly what many people would call an 'absolute paradise'.
And for these twenty survivors, it really will be an adventure of a lifetime.
The castaways of season four were all seen in large boat in the middle of the Caribbean sea rowing together to wherever the map told them to land.
They have been set adrift with absolutely no information. All they do know is when the moment they hit the beach, they will need to fend for themselves. They would have to build their own shelter, find food, and deal with the elements and each other.
Eventually, only one will remain to claim the million dollar prize.
Somewhere further away on a chopper boat was the host of the show himself, Master Hand.
"Thirty-nine days, twenty people, one Survivor!"
Day 1
Yoshi, K. Rool, Meta Knight, Kawasaki, Charizard, Ridley, Robin, Chrom, Corrin, Vector, Doc Louis, Ken, Rodin, Shield Knight, Simon, Joker, Val, Springtrap, Banjo, Sans

...
"...I think that is it, everyone..."
Corrin and the other nineteen contestants were nearly at land as they all kept rowing towards it, for what they felt like it was taking an eternity to get to. But they did. And by the time they all got off, they immediately greeted each other.
"Hey dude, how's it going? What's your name?"
"Real name's Ren, but just call me 'Joker'."
"Cool. Name's Vector."
"Greetings! I am Shield Knight."
"I'm Ken over here!"
"Oh!" Vector turned to face K. Rool, the other anthropomorphic crocodile in the group. "'Sup, my brother? What's your name?"
"Krembling Rool." The two shook hands. "But, please, just call me K. Rool for short. I kinda don't like my first name..."
"Will do! Where ya from?"
"I suppose it is time for another adventure." And Shield Knight had the honor of having the first confessional of the season, even though she did not even know at the time. "Me and my partner go on adventures all the time back at home. Shovel has even been a part of season two. But I have to say... this is not really how I expected to start this off..."
"So,... what exactly are we supposed to do?" Sans questioned. "We came here with nothing but the clothes on our backs and I don't even know what they've done with all of our stuff..."
"We might as well explore for a little bit and see what we can find." Shield suggested. "I do not think any of us expected all twenty of us to be here, but something tells me that we all are going to be together for a while. Might as well get used to our surroundings."
"Sounds good." Robin nodded in agreement. "...But, do we at least have a map?"
"This is beyond unexpected. One minute I was out at Ponderosa thinking that we were all getting ready to take more pictures, next minute people were telling me to get on this boat... Now all of a sudden, boom. The game's starting now..." Doc Louis commented. "Little Mac didn't tell me it was gonna be anything like this! I watched him on the first season and his people all just grabbed supplies and jumped off the boat and the teams went their separate ways. Here? All twenty of us are together and no one has ever seen Master Hand yet. So, uh... we kinda didn't know what we were doing..."
"Hey, what's that box over there?" Val pointed out. "The one that's sitting behind that pole of the flag..."
As a matter of fact, normally there would be a flag representing a tribe. But since all twenty survivors were all together as one big group, all that was on the flag was the season's logo.
"Eh..." Val spoke again and shook her head at this. "Can't even call it a tribe flag like you would if we were all on separate teams..."
"Someone go find me a large rock..."
K. Rool, one of the strongest members of the group, decided to do the honors and try to get the box open. Charizard happened to be the one to find a large rock not too far away. The anthropomorphic crocodile bashed the box against said rock, and it opened within moments.
"Alright." Corrin clapped her hands grinning. "We are off to a good start."
"Good job, man." Charizard and K. Rool high-fived each other. "Better than just taking the rock and dropping it onto the box itself to smash everything."
"Hmm... It appears to be a note." Meta Knight went over and grabbed one of the two items that the box contained and volunteered to read it. "'Welcome to Survivor - Caribbean. The map will be your best friend for the rest of the day. There, you will see where to find your supplies and the water well. You can pick and choose where you want your shelter to be. However, your future in this game is depending on whether or not you complete this task...'"
"So I guess this is the map right here." Shield Knight was already holding it up, with multiple faces all around her staring down at the paper. "The supplies seem to be right here, and if we take a hike for about a minute, we can reach the water well."
"I suppose that we all come up with some sort of strategy of how we are going to do this." Robin suggested. "Since there will be all twenty of us here for now, we need to come up with a game plan."
"How about half and half, then?" Chrom figured. "Half of us shall find the tools, the rest of us will locate the water well."
Simon Belmont, however, found a small problem. "We only have one map, though. Unless we split it..."
"You guys think that's a good idea?" Vector asked the others.
"Well," Rodin shook his head and offered his opinions. "better than half of us not roaming all over the place wasting time..."
"I mean, I study maps all the time." said Shield Knight. "Then again, it is better to be on the safe side. I'd say we split it."
"Alright, then..." Meta Knight confirmed decision, slowly tearing the map right down the middle. "Somebody can take this other half."
"I think after we locate the water well, we should probably have more of us work on the shelter." Ridley chose shelter building as the number one priority. "It would be best if we have it up as soon as possible."
"That'd be a good idea." Springtrap agreed, turning on his heel. "I'm going this way."
"We all meet up back here when we find everything." Chrom pointed towards the ground. He, Springtrap, Ridley, K. Rool, Meta Knight, Charizard, Simon, Kawasaki, Banjo, and Yoshi all headed towards the left to find the supplies, with Shield Knight, Corrin, Sans, Vector, Val, Rodin, Robin, Doc Louis, Ken, and Joker all headed right to begin searching for the water well.
"Dang..." Ken chuckled a bit. "And I thought Ryu had the most brutal marooning, haha! ...Oh wait, he still does. I mean, in Survivor - Mexico, they all had to hike four hours to their camp. Guess the master just let us off easy. Sure, it is random. But hey, all twenty of us together? Never happened before. But maybe this is all good. Just all of us hanging around getting to know each other before everybody starts cutting each others heads off, ahahaha! I mean, we're probably gonna split at some point. Might as well enjoy this while it lasts."
"It should not be too far from here, now..." Shield Knight was holding her half of the map as she led the other nine contestants in her group through the jungle.
"Ooh, I think that's it!" Corrin pointed towards what looked like the handle to the well.
"...It is!" Vector ran right towards it and opened the lid. "Water! We found it!"
"There are canteens hanging on the sides." Joker pointed. "Maybe we should all take two and just give them to the others."
"Good call." Shield Knight was in agreement. "Now I would actually not mind exploring a little more, but I think that we should just head back to the meeting point. The others are probably discovering what tools they found as we speak."
And they were.
"Okay, we got a machete,... a saw, string, scissors,... everything but flint it seems..."
Springtrap had to bring the bad news to everyone with that last part, Ridley cursing under his breath hanging his head down.
"I know that's right..." The anthropomorphic bunny responded to the Metroid pirate's cursing. "That was the one thing I was thinking about."
"Oh, no worries!" Kawasaki suddenly broke up. "We can just build fire the old fashioned way."
Springtrap, whose real name was Kevin Davis, sighed. "Okay. Good point. We'll focus on that depending on how much progress we make with the shelter. We should probably head back if the others have already found water."
By the time everyone reunited, the entire group of twenty went right to work on the shelter building. Bamboo and branches had to be cut down, palm fronds had to be weaved and thrown on the shelter, and most importantly, it had to be just large enough to hold every last one of them.
"This is paradise over here! Master Hand has really outdone himself this time!" K. Rool was completely elated. "Sure, we gotta do camp work and all, but this is also a vacation for me. Not only I'm used to living in a jungle, but I've wanted to visit here someday anyway. Great! I have an advantage in this thing right out of the gate."
"Alright, just make sure that to cut down any tree that you can." Chrom suggested to some of the other castaways around him. "We have a lot of room to make for this."
Next thing that the viewers knew, Simon was hacking away at the base of one of the poor innocent trees with an axe, and he appeared to be rather good at it. It was as if he already had experience using one for some reason.
"I think we'll get this shelter up in no time at all!" Shield Knight smiled optimistically. "Let's keep going, everyone!"
"Chrom and um,... what's her name... Shield Knight. Those two seem to be the biggest workaholics in this group. Chrom was telling people of how to do the shelter, and Shield Knight had her whole thing with the map and directions. Yeah, we're all tryin' to get a roof over our heads before sundown, but if this location alone is already an advantage, why not have another? Maybe I could form an early alliance or something... And you know what? I did just that."
The large crocodile decided to use the rest of the group as a distraction to interact with Vector, Yoshi, Banjo, and Charizard. However, he knew he needed to use his eyes and ears very well, since it was rather risky move indeed.
That being said, he made sure his back was turned to everyone else as he used a machete to split open a coconut.
"So..." He started. "When do you guys think we're gonna split up?"
"I think that's a question everybody has." Charizard presumed, tying some of the bamboo that was making the roof. "All twenty of us can't stay like this forever. Maybe we're moving into tribes tomorrow? Maybe we're all splitting up after we vote someone off? If so, when?"
"Who knows what could happen?" Vector shook his head at the unknown, using the saw to split open the bamboo. "All we know is that it is probably only a matter of time..."
"I'm kinda... scared if you ask me." Yoshi gulped. "What if we all pick teams and I'm not chosen? That means I could be automatically going home..."
"I doubt that's gonna happen. I'd sue the show if that happened to me. Like, after all we had to go through to even get the call to be on this show, let alone packing our bags and coming all the way here? Nah..." K. Rool rejected that possibility. "However, I like all four of you. This could a major opportunity for all of us to start an alliance early."
"...An alliance? Seriously?"
"Trust me. Why not start strategizing now?" He replied to Charizard. "It could be us five versus everyone else. I don't know when we're splittin' up, but we all know that we can't play this game by ourselves. Best case scenario is to make an alliance before anybody else does."
"Well,..." Yoshi stared. "I guess as long as I am not going home... Especially not the first person to go..."
"That's actually... a pretty darn good idea, if I do say so myself!" Vector grinned at that. "...What should we call it, though? Aren't we gonna have a name?"
"Oh, of course." K. Rool took a drink for his coconut for a bit. "Let's call it... the Reptile Runaways."
"Um... I'm a furry..." Banjo blinked.
"This is it. This is our five." The Donkey Kong Country character confirmed. "Me and Vector are both crocodiles from different worlds, I've been talking to Charizard a bit already, Yoshi seems to be fitting in pretty well, but he just looks like he could really use some allies out here. I saw him with Banjo and both of them just so happened to be with us, so why not? I want to increase my chances of winnin' as much as possible. I'm going to the final five, baby!"
Meanwhile, Sans Font was busy looking around everywhere, gradually passing over some of the bamboo over to Simon in the process.
He witnessed Chef Kawasaki rubbing two large sticks together in attempt to make fire the old-fashioned way. Of course, there was no flint, meaning Master Hand decided to make things just a bit more difficult for everyone. However, the poor guy was not having much luck.
"Aw, come on!" He complained, Robin right by his side in case he saw at least a bit of flame out of that.
"Keep trying. We got all day."
Sans then turned to face Chrom and Shield Knight who were still suggesting ideas and strategies of how to make a strong shelter for the first night. Finally, he turned to face the ocean, sighing quietly to himself.
"Okay, I'll be honest... I don't think shelter building is really for me." The first Undertale character admitted. "I mean, if anything, I'm being nice right now. I did a little something. I didn't know that we were going to some place like this, so it kinda puts me more in a good mood around here! But still, I hate shelter building. I'd rather be in the ocean right now trying to float (I've never done that in real life before, but maybe I can do it for the first time out here). But of course, I don't wanna put a target on my back. ...But I think what will save me is that I can hopefully blend in. Nineteen other people are already doing a lot. What are the chances of them noticing that just one person is not putting in as much work as they are?"
Well, unfortunately for Sans, someone just so happened to pick up on that. All thanks Simon Belmont. He was seen with Rodin and Springtrap as they were currently trying to chop down a couple more trees, Springtrap now having a go with the axe.
"Hey..." He started. "I am sorry. I hate to put somebody on the spot on the first day, and I know that everyone is trying to get along, but... am I the only one that notices that someone isn't really doing much around here?"
"Who?" Rodin turned to face him. "The one with the skeletal looking head?"
"That's Sans." Springtrap answered, still focused on his current task.
"Yes, him." Belmont used his head to point. "And,... even though there are so many of us out here, this shelter is for him to sleep in as well. So he might as well contribute something. Kawasaki is not focusing on the shelter much either, but at least he's... trying to make a fire for us."
"I agree a thousand percent. I see it too, so it's not falling on deaf ears." Kevin replied. "Can't stand it when someone's not helping around camp..."
"You're suggesting that we vote him out?" Rodin cocked his head to the side at Simon.
"Well, I don't know exactly when we're gonna be split up into teams." The anthropomorphic rabbit was still uncertain of what exactly was going to occur. "But whether he ends up on our team, or if all twenty of us have to go to tribal for the first round, we gotta vote out somebody. Might as well be the one person that is not doing anything."
"You guys doing alright over here?" Chrom came onto the scene, checking up on his fellow beach members.
"Everybody prepare to stay back..." Springtrap suggested, feeling that the tree was going to come down at any moment.
"We were discussing the 'what-ifs' of the future for all of us." Rodin chose to tell the truth. "Sans might become a liability when it comes to labor around here. And if we end up being stuck with him, he could be an option for all of us in regards to who might vote out first."
Chrom was actually surprised. He thought at the time where everyone was supposed to be getting along and getting to know each other, somebody was already on the chopping block, and work began about four hours ago. People were really already strategizing? Well, unfortunately, that was Survivor in a nutshell. Castaways quite literally played twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
"You okay with him getting the first boot?"
"..." He sighed. "Alright, I think if we have to get rid of someone, perhaps he's a logical choice. I have not been paying too much attention, but I do not recall seeing him doing much...
"Alright, it's going down."
And with that, as if someone was yelling timber, the palm tree collapsed right down to the ground.
"I guess,... people are already trying to figure out who to get rid of..." Chrom laughed and shook his head at all this. "I suppose the fear of the unknown is really getting to everyone... including myself. I've seen a couple of my fellow survivors panicking to themselves, but I do not blame them.
In fact, there were a couple worried looks on the faces of Robin, Yoshi, Simon, Val, Doc Louis, and Springtrap was cursing at himself in the few seconds he was alone in the jungle. "So now, Sans is apparently on the chopping block for contributing the least in regards to the shelter (which is really coming together now). And... ugh... I really just did not expect to feel a bit of guilt for sending somebody home already... But in the end, it is a game. That I do understand. And I suppose as long as it is not me... It is already quite obvious that everyone has a similar mentality at the moment on the first day..."
Much later on the sun was starting to set, and Kawasaki was still having a go at the fire.
Ridley was holding one end of a stick with K. Rool at the other. Rodin and Chrom were holding the other stick with a coconut husk beneath it being held by Kawasaki.
"We can't give up, now! We can do this!"
3... 2... 1
The dragon-like creature and the scaly green crocodile all pushed the stick back and forth constantly as fast as their arms allowed them to. Sure, being stronger than everyone gave them the advantage, but even they had their own limits.
Fortunately though, they managed to get some smoke going between the two stocks. And with Kawsaki blowing on it, a small flame was produced as a result.
"Okay, it's coming. Put the coconut husk down and keep it alive."
Some of other castaways around them immediately began throwing smaller sticks onto there after the fire group placed the larger ones on the ground. Slowly, but surely, it turned out to be a success.
"Yay!" Yoshi shouted with glee. "We did it!"
"We sure did!" Kawasaki was relived. "Now all we need is rice and we can get some cooking going over here!"
"...Um..." Banjo scratched his head, not knowing how to tell him what he needed to hear. "We don't really have anything to eat... besides the white flesh of the coconut... which doesn't really need to be cooked at all..."
"..." Kawsaki sighed in defeat and covered his eyes. "Aw, fish paste..."
"I really wished I would have cooked today. I'm a chef from Dream Land! Everybody likes my cooking! I just had a hard time with the fire today, because I actually have been only practicing fire with a flint, not with my bare hands! And now to top it all off, with just coconut, I don't really have much to work with. So much for trying to please everyone... I bet they would have loved a home cooked meal, especially if it was on Survivor!"
Night 1
By the time it was dark out, all twenty survivors were all huddled up in their newly completed shelter, the fire going on nearby.
"And when me and Shovel took her down, we knew that the castle was history." Shield Knight's voice sounded. "We had to get out as fast as possible. But,... Shovel actually got injured during the fight. I did not want to lose him. Therefore, with a help of a friend, I made sure he got out first. I knew Shovel wanted to make sure I was alright as well, but in the end, everyone made it out in one piece."
"Sounds like you two are perfect for each other." Ken Masters commented. Himself and a few others were listening in on Shield's story. "And I've seen Shovel in season two. You two still call each other just partners? ...I mean, the whole universe knows you're an obvious couple at this point."
"...W-Well,..." She blushed in reaction. "we sort of... get that people know. But,... perhaps we have been used to calling each other our partner for a while. And besides, where I come from, when there are two people that go on adventures together, they refer to each other as their partner all the time."
"And you two just took it one step further by how much time you two spend around each other. That's how relationships work."
"So Rodin, how about you and Bayonetta?" Springtrap asked. "You two dating or just friends?"
"The latter." He responded. "We kind of get that question often, but we are friends. Nothing more... I am honestly surprised she is not with anyone yet, though..."
"I just do not know what is about these campfire stories. My partner has done it with his tribe in season two. I mean, maybe it just the campfire that we have going on right now. It is rather relaxing if you ask me, and I suppose it is a good way to bond with others."
There were a couple side conversations going on at the time, and one of them was with Banjo and Yoshi, the former taking the opportunity to make a sound first.
"Psst! ...Psst!"
Even though the two were right next to each other, they knew that had to watch the volume of their voices.
"...What is it?"
"...What do you think about this whole... Reptile Runaways thing?" The bear questioned.
"Oh, I dunno..." The green dinosaur glanced off for a moment. "But hey, this would probably boost our chances of not getting kicked off... If we all manage to stay together..."
"I guess that's a plus..." Banjo agreed. "Maybe it's good to be in an alliance this early. I just... I just don't know about the name. That's all. I mean, 'Reptile Runaways'? Look at me! Do I look like a reptile to you?"
That made Yoshi snicker so loud, he was nearly sitting up covering his mouth with both of his hands, even kicking his legs back and forth.
"I guess I'm in the 'Reptile Runaways' now." The Smash DLC newcomer still could not have believed what he was brought into. "I don't know what I did to be a part of it, but I guess that's good for me... except, just the name. I'm a freaking bear! They really couldn't have called it anything else? It's like they have a whole family and I'm like this adopted child that nobody wants. And to be honest, right now I'm mainly just thinking about me and Yoshi staying together. We're already friends! ...But hey, with a big group like this, I think maybe we need more people anyway. I just don't know if we're gonna end up sticking together. We still have no idea what's going on..."
Alllright, and that was the first chapter of Survivor - Caribbean!
So yeah, I think this is my favorite "marooning" so far. All twenty people starting out together on the beach while forming friendships with early strategies is a great way to start a season like this. It happened twice in real Survivor, but it hasn't happened in a while (which I find surprising).
Okay, so quite a few references hear. We got Simon's axe, one of signature weapons in his games and a move of his in Smash, and we have multiple references to previous seasons in my series (without spoilers of course). We also already have an alliance going thanks to K. Rool and his "Reptile Runaways" consisting of himself, Charizard, Banjo, Yoshi, and Vector. And we already have a target, Sans, for not contributing much around camp. Like Chrom said, the fear of the unknown is really getting to some people.
And speaking of Chrom, I think he, and especially Shield Knight have dominated this chapter, and the latter of all people was something I did not expect at all when I was planning this season long before I started writing it. So, good going, Shield!
But anyways, I am pretty sure you are just as curious as they are in regards too what is going to happen next. Are nineteen people really about to send someone home at the first tribal, or are they going to be divided into teams soon? Nothing is certain until the next chapter is posted lol.
I encourage all fans of these franchises to review. But read other peoples' reviews at your own risk. I don't mind them talking about the other three seasons (in fact, I encourage it whenever they need to bring something up). But for the new readers, I don't wanna spoil you guys lol. So please be careful.
So I will be dropping two chapters a week on every Wednesday and Sunday. I usually write chapters in advance, and at this moment, I've just finished writing the entire pre-merge yesterday. That being said, I will see you in chapter two on Sunday! Thank you and happy early summer everyone!
(One more quick note, if you haven't already, my winner pick poll is still on my profile, but it will be gone when chapter 4 gets released.)
