"Ballgown!" Galinda Upland shouts pointing her pink training wand at her best friend and roommate Elphaba Thropp who is reading a sorcery book from the classroom bench.

The two were waiting on Madame Morrible for their afternoon sorcery class to begin. In the meantime, the blonde starts to practice while Elphaba reads new spells.

Galinda groaned and looks at her wand frustrated. "Why won't this stupid thing work!?"

"You need to enunciate the words more clearly Glin. It'll be more effective," Elphaba replies not looking up from her book.

She frowned. "I've been trying to enunciate spells for days. I wonder what I am doing wrong?"

The green girl responds, "Don't worry Glin. It's going to work eventually. I can assure you that. If you keep practicing, you can get better at it!"

"Easy for you to say! You don't even have to practice! You already have magic!" Galinda complained.

Her best friend shakes her head, "Oh no Galinda, I do have to practice! You think that I don't have to but I really do! You think my magic is twice as powerful as yours but I still need to learn how to control it."

"But that doesn't help me! I wish that I have strong magic like you do," the blonde whines sadly.

"It'll come to you. Just be patient Glin and before you know it, you'll be the most powerful sorceress in no time at all," The green girl says her voice sounding calm before looking back down to her sorcery book.

The blonde huffed angrily and stomped her feet.

"I don't want to wait!"

She holds her training wand out and points it at Elphaba and she shouts clearly, "Ballgown!"

Nothing happened. And that was when the determined blonde girl lose it.

"Come on! I am not getting any younger here! BALLGOWN!" Galinda yells enunciating the words and sparks started shooting out of her wand.

"Elphie look! It's working!" Galinda shouts excited but the sparks went onto Elphaba and a bright light suddenly appears. The green girl looked up seeing what was happening and before she knew it she felt herself shrink and her mind going blank.

Galinda bounced up and down doing her happy dance not paying any attention to Elphaba. "IT WORKED! I have magic! Finally! Isn't that amazifying Elphie?"

When the light dimmed, Galinda sees that her roommate was nowhere to be found.

"Elphie?"

The blonde went to investigate. She came close and saw that Elphaba has been replaced by her uniform laying on the floor in a heap, smoke goes up in the air like Elphaba has disappeared into thin air.

"Oh sweet merciful Oz! I VAPORIFIED YOU! Oh Elphie!" Galinda shouted at the loss of her best friend and starts to break out in sobs when she hears a soft coo coming from the heap of clothes which started to move a little.

"Elphie?" Galinda calls hopeful that she's still alive.

A cry came in response. It sounded more of like… A baby's cry.

"Elphie? Are you ok?" She calls again, her pale hand touching the clothes and lifts it up revealing a little naked baby... A green-skinned naked baby with little raven black hair on the top of her head.

Galinda's jaw dropped and her eyes widened. She gasps at the sight before her.

Elphaba Thropp. Is a BABY!?

This is definitely no good.

The baby's chocolate brown eyes looked back up to the blonde and her tiny mouth opened up forming a shape of an 'o'.

"Oh no! Elphie! What have I done!?" She cries clearly upset at the results.

The baby starts wailing kicking her little feet. Galinda didn't know what to do, but she immediately and carefully picked her up holding her in her arms and wrapped her roommate's clothes around the baby like it's a blanket.

"Oh Elphie… I'm so sorry! I've got you sweetheart."

The baby continued wailing loudly and the blonde tries shushing her while gently bouncing her up and down in a hushed tone, "It's ok Elphie… It's ok… Shhh…"

But little Elphie won't stop crying.

"Oh what am I going to do?" Galinda asked herself starting to get overwhelmed by so many feelings about this situation.

"Miss Galinda?"

Her head turned around seeing Madame Morrible who just walked in the classroom.

"What in the name of Oz is happened here?" Madame Morrible came closer to see what the blonde was holding and when she saw the baby she gasps pointing her long finger to her. "Is that…"

"Yes Madame. It's Elphaba! I am so very sorry! It was an accident!" Galinda apologizes still holding the crying baby in her arms.

Madame Morrible crossed her arms. "Perhaps you would like the explain yourself Miss Galinda?"

"Yes. I just waved my wand at Elphie and said a spell. At least I know now that I have magic but unfortunately my spell really backfired. All I said was 'ballgown,' nice and clearly."

The headmistress asked her sorcery student, "Did you say anything else before the magic happened?"

"I got really frustrated when I said 'ballgown' and then said that I am not getting any younger…" Galinda trails off realizing the mistake she has done.

She mumbles looking down at the green baby, "… Oh Shiz…"

Very displeased, Madame Morrible takes the crying baby from Galinda and looks at her lovingly.

"You poor dearie… Let's get you comfortable, shall we?" She coos to the baby shifting her into her left arm and raises her right hand up muttering a spell over Elphaba.

Galinda watches as her best friend's uniform has shrunk into something small and gradually fits onto Elphaba's tiny body forming into some sort of nappy. It looked soft and comfy on her. While still holding the crying baby in her arm, her free hand went into her pocket and pulls out a little blue cloth and with one wave, the cloth grew bigger looking like a blanket.

She wrapped the blanket around the baby who stopped crying before giving her back to Galinda.

The headmistress went to her desk, opened the drawer and took out a pencil. And with one spell she conjured it into a baby rattle. She shakes it before giving it to Elphaba who had her eyes focused on it. A toothy smile came on as little green hands reached out for the rattle grasping it and starts playing with it gurgling happily.

"Now Miss Galinda," Madame Morrible starts having her eyes on the blonde with a "I'm disappointed in you" look.

"I will make sure to provide you some things you need for Miss Elphaba like a bassinet, a rocking chair and other needs. I'll have them brought to your dorm. The spell of yours should wear off in a few days, a week at least. In the meantime you are excused from your classes since you'll be Miss Elphaba's caretaker until she's back to normal. And I am cancelling the seminar until further notice."

That was when Galinda protests, "But Madame! I don't know how to take care of a baby-"

"You are taking care of Miss Elphaba and I don't want to hear any more complaints from you. You could've harmed your roommate with your spell castings. Which reminds me, you will not perform any magic while taking care of Miss Elphaba as punishment. I am holding you responsible if anything else happens to her, you understand?"

"Yes ma'am, but can I at least have someone help me?" The blonde questions while the baby shakes the rattle a little harder.

Just as Madame Morrible is about to respond, she stopped short when something hit her in the face. Hard. The rattle Elphaba was holding flew out of her hands, bounced off of the woman's nose and fell to the floor.

Her hand went onto her nose holding it in pain as a happy Elphaba giggles at Madame's expense.

Galinda shook her head gently scolding the baby. "No no Elphie! You don't throw things at people!"

The green baby only clapped her hands still giggling. The blonde girl smiled a little. Baby Elphie looks very adorable.

Madame Morrible growled under her breath still holding her nose. She squeezed her eyes shut and gestures to the door telling Galinda to leave.

"Right… I guess we'll be leaving. Again I apologize for the mess Madame. I will take good care of her…" She holds little Elphie in her arms, grabbed her book bag and walked out of the classroom and down the hallway.

How is Galinda Upland of the Upper Uplands going to take care of a baby? A baby who was her roommate? She never took care of a child before in her life. In fact, she had never taken care of anything ever.

Very reluctant, she sighs looking down at the green baby in her arms who was staring in space. "Well little Elphie… It looks like I'm going to have to take care of you."

The green baby stares at Galinda for a moment in response until her little lips quivered and her little eyes squeezed tight as a wail escapes from her mouth.

Galinda groaned.
