It was a bright morning. The sun was crossing the horizon, bathing everything in a reddish-golden glow. As it began to shed its light upon a distant mountain, a small town could be seen at its base. What could never have been predicted, however, was the ragtag group on the top of the mountain. The group included what seemed to be fish women, skeletons, robots, lizards, and… whatever the furry goat-people were.
"I… I can barely believe my eyes. Here I thought we would be trapped down there forever, not that it would have been bad," one of the furry goat-people murmured, as various sounds of agreement rung out throughout the group.
"WHAT IS THAT BIG FIERY BALL IN THE SKY, BROTHER?" one of the skeletons asked.
"we call that the sun, paps," the other skeleton, his brother, replied.
"WOWIE! I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M FINALLY MEETING THE SUN!" 'Paps' replied.
Meanwhile, at the other end of the group, a large goat-person bent down to talk to a small human child.
"I… I have a proposition for you, Frisk… Would you like to be our ambassador? You clearly know much more about human culture than we ever could," the goat-person said to them.
The child, Frisk, considered it for a few seconds, before enthusiastically nodding their head.
"I… I thank you," he replied.
Suddenly, 'Paps' dramatically walked to Frisk!
"HUMAN! I HAVE HEARD… THAT YOU! ARE GOING TO BE OUR AMBASSADOR?!" 'Paps' asked.
"Yes," they replied.
"THEN! YOU WILL CLEARLY NEED A HELPING HAND!" he said. "I! SHALL TAKE UP THAT WORK! I'LL GO TO GIVE A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION OF OUR NEW NEIGHBORS!"
With that, he walked (read: ran dramatically) down the convenient path to the foot of the mountain.
"welp. i better go. someone's got to make sure he doesn't get himself killed," the other skeleton said, before proceeding to disappear back into the mountain. No one questioned this seemingly odd way of getting down a mountain.
"Ugh… I need to make sure Papyrus stays safe, too… I can't trust lazy Sans to do ANYTHING." The fish woman said. "NGAAHHH! WAIT FOR ME, PAPS!" Saying this, she ran down the mountain after Paps. The yellow lizard also creeped down the mountain after the fish. The robot, watching this, said,
"I DO hope there is SOME dramatic romance between them. It would be SO good for the media, you know. I can picture the headlines now: Alphys, the Royal Scientist, and Undyne, the Captain of the Guard, are- "
"QUIET, Mettaton, there are CHILDREN here!" the female goat-person said.
"Oh, right. Ahem. Yes… But then I can still-"
"NO, Mettaton."
"FINE! Sometimes I wish you weren't the Ex-Queen," he muttered under his breath.
At a glare from her, however, Mettaton quickly ran down the mountain after his creator.
"So, Tori-" the large goat-person began.
"Don't 'Tori' me, Asgore Dreemurr. I still haven't forgiven you, you know," 'Tori' said coldly.
"I… I understand. But… but I hope we... can at least… be friends… Toriel…?" Asgore said meekly.
"…I'll consider it." Toriel relented, after a squinted baby-seal expression from Frisk.
"I'll miss this place. It might have been our prison, but it was also our Home." Asgore said.
"…Yes. I will too." Toriel said.
Frisk nodded in agreement.
At last, the trio also headed down the mountain.
It had been a week since that day. With permission from the locals, who were frankly astonished at the sheer number of monsters coming from inside the mountain, the Dreemurrs had been able to build a settlement of their own, at the base of the mountain on the other side from the human town. It had eventually been named to 'Hope Town', but not before 'Newer Home', 'Newest Home', and 'Surface Home' were all rejected.
Asgore worked as a gardener and rejected his kingly duties, saying "Now that we are free, there is no more need for a monarchy. We will no longer have to bear the burden of a chained people, as, for now, the chains have been broken."
Toriel was a teacher at a nearby elementary school.
Papyrus was working as a part-time chef in the newly relocated Grillby's, which of course, just made Sans go there even more.
Mettaton was hoping to become a popular TV star as soon as he arrived, but of course, the humans weren't too keen on that, so for now, he settled into his previous lifestyle as a media star for monsterkind.
Alphys was still a scientist, but now, she was working on replicating structures like the CORE in the surface, with help from Sans, who seemed to know an odd lot about it.
Sans was… well, he was Sans. Lazy as ever. However, on top of his 'secret job', he also worked as a simple hotdog salesman.
Undyne worked, both as the town's 'Chief of Police' (which humans said was apparently equivalent to being the Captain of the Royal Guard), and as a part-time gym teacher. She regularly boasted of having (somehow) suplexed the entire school building, which took a whole day to rebuild.
Amongst all this, however, the poor ambassador was swamped with schoolwork as well as politics. They would eventually take help with their ambassadorial duties from the Politics Bear, the Dreemurr Family as well as Sans (oddly enough).
It was a cold day. The sun was blazing in the blue sky. Despite this, somehow, the temperature was surprisingly low, at around 31 degrees Celsius. That day, the ambassador was unusually furtive. Sans noticed this, and began tailing them. He watched as she went to the mountain, before jumping back into the underground through the hole that led to the RUINS. Confused, Sans used his blue magic to lower himself down behind her. Upon hearing two voices, he quickly scrambled behind a broken purple pillar.
"I… I'm scared, Asriel," Frisk said.
"Why, what's wrong?" an unnaturally high-pitched voice said. this must be the 'Asriel' she is speaking to, Sans thought. how, though? he's never heard of anyone named Asriel. in fact, it sounds an awful lot like a certain weed, except for the caring tone in which he said these words. But, before he could think further, Frisk proceeded to drop a bombshell on both of them.
"I can't SAVE, LOAD, or RESET… If any of us dies… then...That's it."
Sans had to restrain himself from audibly gasping.
"I thought you might have gotten it back, Asriel," they said.
"No, I don't have the powers. I… I thought you did," Asriel said.
but then… that would mean that someone else has the Determination Powers. someone, who might very much like a bad time…
"I was going to tell everyone else, but then, what? How can we possibly find who has the Powers without going on a genocidal rampage?"
"I mean, I could do it for you-" THERE was the Flowey he knew.
"NO, Asriel. If that happens, people will start panicking and start killing us. No, we need a different solution."
Finally deciding to show himself, he stepped out of the shadows. "i can help," he said.
In surprise, Asriel reflexively sent a hail of pellets his way. Thankfully, he dodged them all.
"How… how much did you hear, Sans?" Frisk asked.
"long enough to know we've got a problem on our hands," he replied.
"however, i have a solution to said problem,"
"see, according to [DATA EXPUNGED]'s notes-"
"Who's [DATA EXPUNGED]?"
"oh, right, you guys don't know bout him. long story short, he was [REDACTED]. he was also [REDACTED]."
"He was what?"
"i told you, he was [REDACTED] and [REDACTED]."
"All I'm hearing is REDACTED!" Flowey yells, enraged.
"really? huh. oh well. doesn't matter now. anyways, according to [DATA EXPUNGED]'s notes on determination, people with high levels of determination naturally gravitate towards others with high levels of determination. it's why humnas fall down every-"
"HOLD UP."
"what is it now, weed?"
"If humans only came here because of the DT attraction I gave off, then why did Chara come down here?"
"good question. honestly, i have no idea. however, i believe that [DATA EXPUNGED]'s experiments gave off massive amounts of free DT. that would make it a savory target to any human."
'so, i was thinking: why not let whoever has the DT powers come to us? if they're monster-friendly, all's well and good. if not…" saying this, he proceeded to activate his cyan eye, making clear towards everyone in the room what would happen if the mystery man wasn't monster-friendly."
"Hmm… I don't like to agree with the Smiley Trashbag, but he's got a point. Why not let him come to us? That way, not only do we know who he is without any bloodshed (sadly), but also have the home advantage."
Frisk squinted in thoughtfulness (hard to tell though with the squinted eyes) before her face cleared, and she nodded.
"great. uhh, should we tell the others?" Sans asked.
Frisk shook her head emphatically.
"ok then. i'll just tell the others to keep an eye out for anyone who seems suspicious."
Frisk emphatically poked the skeleton.
"what, kiddo? i know I'm full of air, but that's no need to start ribbing me," Sans said, as a rimshot played in the distance.
"Not that! How do we get back up?" they asked.
"oh. that. hold on a sec…" Saying this, he proceeded to use his blue magic and pulled them through the hole back up to the surface.
"AAAHHHH!" Frisk screamed as she fell to the ground.
"what? don't like being down to earth?" Sans said, as he gave a dramatic wink.
"calm down, kiddo. you know i would never hurt you unless you do uh… ya know… the thing."
Frisk gave the equivalent of a death glare to the short skeleton as they stood back up and brushed themselves off.
"I've never DONE 'the thing'."
"...i know. come on kiddo, let's get back. paps must be worried sick about us."
Saying this, they headed back to Hope Town.
Hello!
This is my very first story, so uhh please, no flames. I wanted to give a new approach to FNAF-Undertale crossovers, so I began with the traditional story of the barrier's breaking and Frisk's loss of power. HOWEVER, I will not be giving anyone the DT Powers, as, frankly enough, the monsters of Undertale already have a massive magic advantage over Springtrap without having to add TIME TRAVEL into the equation. Will someone still have the DT Powers? Yes, but they will never access it (accessing SAVES or RESETing requires either a save point, located in the underground, or death, which no one who doesn't know about the DT Powers will go near.)
