"You been spending a lots of time with your daddy.'' Dil said as he and Ji Yeon played in the sandbox.
"He gotted hurted at work.'' Ji Yeon explained putting some sand in her bucket.
Dil had never seen Ji Yeon with her daddy so much. She was usually with her mommy when they saw each other. This got him thinking.
"Do you like your mommy or daddy more?'' Dil asked putting his bucket down and lifting it back up to reveal a sandcastle.
Ji Yeon thought for a minute unsure of how to answer. She loved both of her parents.
"I like both of them.'' She finally answered.
This answer didn't quite satisfy Dil. He figured that every kid had a favorite parent. He loved his daddy, but he felt closer to his mommy.
"But who do you like more?'' Dil asked once again.''I like my mommy just a little bit more then my daddy.''
Ji Yeon thought about Dil's question once again.
Earlier in the week
"Apps drink.'' Ji Yeon said while pointing to Jin's beer can on the end table next to the couch.
"Yes that's my drink. Here is yours.'' Jin said handing Ji Yeon her sippy cup.
Ji Yeon shook her head and pushed the cup away and pointed to the can once more.
"You can't have this.'' Jin told her as he drank the remaining contents of the can.
Ji Yeon began to pout and reached for the can.
"See. It's all gone.'' Jin said when Ji Yeon put the can up to her mouth.
Seeing Ji Yeon with the empty can gave Jin an idea. He took the can from Ji Yeon and took it to the kitchen.
Ji Yeon followed her daddy into the kitchen watching curiously as he rinseed the can out in the sink. She followed him back into the living room and watched as he poured her almond milk into the can and handed it to her. He quickly snapped a picture of Ji Yeon drinking from the can and sent it to his wife.
Jin immediately regretted his decision as Ji Yeon spilled the can almond milk all over her face and clothes and onto the carpet.
He got Ji Yeon and the carpet cleaned up and sat back down to finish his soccer game.
Just as he was expecting Mi Sun called soon after he sat down.
"Did you really give our daughter beer?'' Mi Sun asked when Jin answered.
Jin chuckled.''Of course not. It's almond milk and I rinsed out the can before I gave it to her. I just wanted to see what you would say.''
"Ok. I have to get back to work now. I love you both.'' Mi Sun said.
"We love you too.'' Jin said hanging up and turning his attention back to the game.
Ji Yeon was getting bored and wandered out of the living room in search of something to do. She wished Dil was with her. He always came up with fun things for them to do.
Ji Yeon made her way down the hall and into her room where she noticed Cleo's curled tail sticking out from under her crib. Seeing Cleo under her bed gave Ji Yeon an idea. She crawled over quietly despite being able to walk and pulled Cleo's tail gently. She knew she wasn't supposed to pull her tail, but Cleo didn't seem to mind as she lifted her head and came out from under the bed.
"Let's play hide and go peek.'' Ji Yeon told Cleo.''I can hide first and you come find me.''
Ji Yeon went off to find a hiding place. She crawled underneath her parents bed and waited.
A few seconds later she felt something wet on her feet.
"Cleo!'' Ji Yeon exclaimed While hugging Cleo.'' You found me. Now it's your turn to hide.''
Before they could continue their game Jin walked into the room.
"There you are.'' He said picking Ji Yeon up.''We gotta go get the other kids.''
Cleo followed them out of the room and sat by the door as Jin put his and Ji Yeon's shoes on.
"Cleo.'' Ji Yeon said pointing to Cleo. She was hoping that her daddy would let Cleo come too. She wanted to continue playing with her.
"I guess Cleo can come too.'' Jin said grabbing Cleo's leash.
Once in the car Ji Yeon forgot about playing with Cleo and soon fell asleep.
Cleo however had already had her nap and wasn't interested in resting in the car. She bolted the first chance she got, which happened to be when they got to where Min Hee worked with horses.
Cleo ran off as soon as Min Hee opened the passenger door.
"Go get her.'' Jin sighed frustrated at his current condition which left him unable to run.
Min Hee groaned and ran after Cleo.'' Get back here you stupid dog.''
Cleo noticed Min Hee chasing her and ran right into a mud puddle. She got out and stopped and watched as Min Hee got closer to her. Right as Min Hee was about to grab her she ran back into the mud making Min Hee fall face first into the mud puddle.
Cleo then headed straight for the car and jumped in. Min Hee pushed her into the backseat and slammed the car door shut.
The commotion woke Ji Yeon up and she looked around not sure where they were or why Cleo was so dirty. She grabbed her blanket and wiped some of the mud off of Cleo. The dog sighed and put her head in Ji Yeon's lap and fell asleep. They picked up the boys next and headed home.
"Get yourself and Cleo cleaned up.'' Jin told Min Hee as he got dinner ready.
"Why do I have to?'' Min Hee whined.
"Because I said so and you need to shower anyway.'' Jin pointed out.
"Min Jun bring Cleo in the bathroom.'' Min Hee ordered sharply. She was already annoyed at the dog and wasn't about to chase her through the house.
Min Jun did as his sister asked and brought Cleo to the bathroom and left shutting the door behind him.
"Don't lick me.'' Min Hee yelled kicking Cleo as she got out of the shower and wrapped a towel around herself. Cleo yelped and ran out of the bathroom leaving a trail of water behind her.
"Ji Yeon?'' Dil asked waving his hand in front of Ji Yeon's face.
"Huh?'' Ji Yeon asked coming back to the present.
"I asked if you wanted to go to the swings.'' Dil told her.
"Oh sorry. I was thinking more about your question and I think I have a answer for you. I think I like my daddy a little bit more right now.'' Ji Yeon said as she followed Dil to the swings.
"How did you finally decide?'' Dil asked as he helped Ji Yeon up onto the swing and pushed her before climbing onto his own.
"Well now that I can walk my daddy is teaching me to play soccer.'' Ji Yeon explained.
"Oh cool. How is it going?'' Dil asked as he went higher on the swing.
"I'm not very good yet, but it's fun.'' Ji Yeon smiled remembering the day fondly.
It started out like the last few days had since Ji Yeon had started spending her days with her daddy.
She sat on the floor and played with her toys while Jin watched soccer on TV.
Once the game was over Jin got Ji Yeon dressed and put her in the car making sure to leave Cleo at home this time. They drove to a sports store and went straight to the soccer section.
"Just because you're a girl doesnt mean you can't play sports. We're going to start with soccer now that you can walk.'' Jin explained as he put Ji Yeon down on the floor in front of a bin filled with smaller different colored soccer balls.
Ji Yeon was amazed at all of the different colors, but one ball caught her eye, it was turquoise, pink, and purple.
"Ball.'' Ji Yeon said and pointed to the ball that she wanted.
"Good choice.'' Jin told her reaching into the bin and getting the ball for her. He handed it to her and together they walked to the register.
They got home where Jin set up a net.
"kick the ball inside the net.'' Jin explained.
Ji Yeon kicked the ball, but it barely rolled halfway across the grass.
"Like this.'' Jin said as he kicked the ball landing it in the net.
"Wow.'' Ji Yeon said as Jin brought the ball back to her.
She was even more determined to kick the ball into the net just like her daddy wanted.
Jin plicked her up and moved her a little closer to the goal. Ji Yeon concentrated and kicked the ball as hard as she could. She fell on the ground as she kicked the ball and watched as it slowly made its way into the net.
"You did it.'' Jin cried excitedly picking Ji Yeon up and giving her a high five.'' You scored your first goal.''
"So why do you love your mommy more?'' Ji Yeon asked as she and Dil continued to swing.
"I guess I have to tell you next time I see you.'' Dil said as he heard Didi calling for him.
