A supercharged blast of burning blue energy streaked past Revali as he soared through the skies, one thought was at the forefront of the Rito's mind:

This will be easy.

He let loose several volleys of arrows with his Great Eagle Bow midflight, nailing his target straight in the head. This brief moment of success was short lived however, as the Blight Ganon before him thrust its cannon arm forward and peppered Revali with a great multitude of small laser beams. The Rito swerved, ducked, and dived to avoid every single one of the attacks, bringing his bow into the firing position, three bomb arrows knocked and ready to fire. With a violent twang the bowstring whipped forward; the explosively charged arrows were seconds away from nailing the creature in the face, when they were detonated prematurely by a burst of blue light. Revali's growl of frustration was cut short as he narrowly avoided yet another cannon blast, quickly maneuvering himself behind his opponent, he smirked confidently, knocking three more bomb arrows and taking aim. A whir of unnatural origins whizzed right past his head, causing the Rito to swerve away just as he let loose the volley, missing his intended target by far, instead striking the Blight's lower body. But still, it did the trick. The beast flinched briefly, and that was the only opening Revali needed. He was a blur of blue feathers, whipping around the battlefield, raining down a consistent hail of arrows on the Calamity's creation. Stunning the creature by scoring a perfect, and pretty literal, bullseye, Revali finally came to a halt. Hovering there, he laid three bomb arrows out and drew the string back, taking careful aim at the Blight's eye.

And, the final blow. He thought with a smirk and glare, whipping his wing away from the string. Revali's smirk morphed into a grin as the explosions set off and the beast let out a bizarre, almost mechanical sounding, howl. Hmm, at first I thought it might have posed a slight threat, but I guess not. You can't blame it for simply failing to measure up to my sta- "Wait, wha-" a large, blue projectile hurled towards the Rito Champion, who barely managed to lurch out of the way…mostly. Revali screamed as the supercharged beam nearly tore his whole left leg off, sending him plummeting to the ground. He hit the ground with a resounding thud, laying there, staring at the monstrosity that was approaching him, Revali could feel or register nothing but pain…and an overwhelming urge to rip this thing's head off with every single bomb arrow in Hyrule. The shard of Calamity hovered before the mighty Master Archer of the Rito, raising its cannon and charging the blast.

The finishing blow, Revali thought grimly as he dazedly hauled himself into a crouching position …or not. A massive gust of wind rushed upwards, carrying the Rito far into the air, just as the laser fired, missing him entirely and instead causing the downfall of an ancient Shiekah pillar atop Vah Medoh. The abomination made some sort of frustrated clucking sound, and began tracking its targets movements, a hunter waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

What is this thing? It makes clucking sounds? Revali screeched furiously in his thoughts, gasping and heaving for breath on the outside, in result of the nearly incapacitating pain and furious throbbing of his leg, which was gushing out a steady stream of blood, staining Vah Medoh's deck crimson; not that the Divine Beast seemed to need any help with that, given the dark purple color flowing through its energy circuits now.

Sensing that its prey was currently distracted by its wound, the Blight lifted its cannon, and let loose. Revali snapped to attention immediately, beginning to zigzag and duck up and down. The flurry of blue light assailing him this time seemed much harder to doge this time to the Rito, and one incinerated some feathers at the tip of his wing when he got a little sloppy and it grazed him.

Revali slowed to a hover when his opponent stopped to recharge, and flipped his bow from his right talons to his wings, knocking a volley of arrows and quickly letting loose. He repeated the process several times, hitting his intended target each time, before preparing his final shot before fleeing the beast's lasers once more.

Once again, the hunter sensed a weakness in its prey, a slight falter due to the pain in its leg. Its cannon was already aimed, but, just when Revali was about to fire off the volley of arrows that the Blight knew would be the true final blow, it lashed out with its other arm towards the Rito, firing out several mini-tornadoes straight towards the archer.

Damn it! Revali let the arrows drop to the deck below and took off, but more tornadoes cut him off. He spotted a small opening through the whirlwind and grinned, swerving in that direction already knocking a volley of arrows. However, before he was even in position, a whirl of blue light caused him to come to a screeching halt, fumbling with his bow, but end up knocking it out of his own wing in his panic. Shit! With wide eyes, he watched the Great Eagle Bow fall to Vah Medoh's deck, and, weaponless, he whipped around, attempting to find any sort of opening. But no, he was surrounded on all but one side by whirling tornadoes, which were growing ever closer, and, beyond that, the very barrier which he had used for his own benefit many times before.

He made a wild dash for the one exit from the mass of wind, but a volley of cannon blasts cut him off and he was soon completely surrounded. He swerved around one tornado, flew above the other in a desperate attempt to skim just between the top of the tornadoes and Vah Medoh's barrier, but the monstrosity had beaten him to that, too. The beast was hovering up there, waiting, watching, ever the hunter. Revali continued to maneuver around the swirling masses of wind, despite the increasingly smaller amount of space, until, he at last succumbed to his leg wound and swerved off course, immediately being scooped up by the nearest tornado. In a blur of motion, the Rito's quiver was whipped off his body and the arrows flew around freely in the wind, many slicing Revali's wings, legs, and any other body part that was exposed. He himself was blown around like a rag doll, completely out of control of his direction or bodily orientation.

Suddenly, he was slammed into the ground sideways, his leg twisted at an unnatural angle and blood was scattered everywhere. The tornadoes were gone, all was silent. Revali groaned and raised himself slightly, dazedly recognizing the fact that his bow lay before him, it lay in tatters and many parts were separated or bent at odd angles, as if someone had deliberately smashed it. And, above him floated the hunter, staring down at him with a maliciously glowing eye; the Rito held himself up on trembling wings, gasping for breath "I-I am the great…Revali, m-master of the bow and the greatest archer to ever exist. I w-will…not submit to being defeated by you!" The cannon raised, a strange beeping noise echoed throughout the entirety of the area. A large explosion sounded, the smell of burning feathers filled the air. …Thus, the Scourge of Divine Beast Vah Medoh, Windblight Ganon, was born.
