After a long day of fighting aliens and scouring their technology, there was nothing more Gwen liked to do than to sit down in front of the TV with Rhys, eat lasagna, and share her many stories with him. However, Tosh had recently told Gwen about something she found online. Tosh had managed to create a system that lets them use Wi-Fi from alternate dimensions, and one such dimensions somehow seems to know everything about the Torchwood crew and the world they live in, like they're all part of some kind of TV show broadcast to everyone. Apparently each of them seem to have gained some kind of fanbase amongst these strange overseers, and Tosh had gave Gwen the router she made to try it out for herself, telling her about a site called , comprised of these strange viewers making their own stories about the Torchwood team. Gwen sat down at her computer and typed in the URL, and to her surprise, it actually worked. A little freaked out, but interested nonetheless, Gwen typed in the Torchwood tag, and found many fanfics about her friends, many involving Jack and Ianto.

"Okay, that's pretty weird..." Gwen said to herself.

Gwen scrolled down further and checked through every fanfic, she noticed that she wasn't in a lot of them, but she eventually found one with her in it. For some reason, this fanfic completely misinterpreted her personality. She was a mean-spirited, jealous, and sometimes evil person in a lot of these. Gwen knew she made mistakes, but to think that there are people out there who completely miss her strong points. Disheartened, but willing to go on, Gwen search for more fanfics, this time applying a filter with her name. One thing she found in a description for one of the fics, was a strange word; "Gwen-bashing".

"So, they've made an entire subgenre based entirely on bashing me? Lovely."

Gwen read through the fanfic, and found that this writer really seemed to have it out for her, constantly putting her in embarrassing or painful scenarios, with the other Torchwood members laughing at her expense.

So, she'd checked on this page, and all she found was people who harbor a lot of hate for her. Gwen bit her lip, and looked through the comments of the fanfic, hoping to find someone who actually liked her. This proved to be a massive mistake, as all she found were lots of people announcing their hate for her, talking about how they love to see her suffer, how they hate the gap in her front teeth, how she doesn't deserve Rhys, and how she should leave Torchwood because nobody even likes her. One of these comments said that he'd shoot her in the face if he ever had the chance. Gwen felt tears welling up in her eyes. Who were these people? How could they see everything in her universe? And why do they hate her so much?

"What even is this?" Gwen said. "Who would write these types of things. I meant I've heard of not liking people, but this is just disturbing."

Gwen felt tired and sad. She knew she had made mistakes in her life, treated her husband badly at some points. But her first year at Torchwood was an extremely difficult one, she wasn't in the right state of mind due to the awful things she saw working for Torchwood, and that caused her to cheat on Rhys. Gwen had tried her damnedest to improve herself since then. Gulping hard, Gwen looked at one more fanfic, and the comments too. This one seemed to involve her trying to get in the way of Jack and Ianto's love, and the comments treated her as if she'd actually tried to steal Jack from Ianto.

Sad and confused, Gwen turned off her computer. She found a note on the router along with a Retcon pill. Gwen read the note.

You've probably seen the awful things that were written on this site. I've placed a Retcon pill in the bag, so you can choose to forget everything you've seen. I'll come round in the night and destroy the router. Just know, that we would never feel that way about you.

Tosh

Gwen dried her eyes, and eventually decided to take the Retcon pill and fall asleep. As her memories of this event faded, she wondered if this has ever happened to anyone else.
