The taxi pulled up beside the pavement and stopped. The occupants inside sad that the night was now officially over. Chris snuck a quick look at Jo to check she was still alive and laughed to himself when he saw just how wasted she was. She looked up at him. He had to make sure she got in ok.
"Are you alright to wait?" He asked the taxi driver. "I have to make sure she gets in."
The taxi driver nodded. "Sure, no problem."
"Don't move. I'm coming around to help you get out." Chris said.
He opened his door and got out, closing it behind himself he quickly rushed around to Jo's side of the car to find her opening the door and practically launching herself out.
"Didn't I tell you to wait?" Chris said chuckling to himself.
He grasped her arm and pulled her upwards so that she could get on her feet and stabilize herself. 'She looks like a new born baby foal' Chris thought to himself 'and she has the height for it too'
He better keep that thought and possibly new nickname to himself.
"Have you got everything?" Chris asked. He looked into the taxi behind her and saw that there was nothing on the seat. He placed her arm on the taxi door so that she could hold herself up for a few moments. He unclipped her bag and had a quick look at the contents inside.
Purse
Phone
Keys
Everything was in order. He took out the keys to give to her and closed it back up. He took her arm again and closed the taxi door. The engine idling while parked beside the pavement.
"Up you get." Chris said as he patted Jo's shoulder, trying to get her to focus on what she should be doing.
Jo lifted her foot to try and step on the pavement but misjudged the height, like most drunk people do, and she tripped. Nearly falling flat on her face if Chris hadn't caught her in time.
They finally made it onto the pavement and Chris rested Jo up against the wall. He was about to take the keys from Jo's hands but before he could she had already pushed them into the lock. She tried to turn the key but it wouldn't budge.
"LINDSAY, LET ME IN!" Jo shouted and she banged on the door with her fist.
Chris grabbed Jo's hand in his own. "Quiet Jo! You'll wake the whole street."
"There's a thing called a doorbell." He let go of her hand, pressed it and then took the keys out of the lock.
He noticed something in the corner of his eye and looked up. The upstairs bedroom light tuned on and then the hallway light. He heard quick footsteps on the stairs and the door opened seconds later.
"Jo, you're back." The woman enveloped Jo into a hug. Chris guessed this was the girlfriend that Jo had been going on about all night.
She stepped back. "Did you have a good night?"
"Yeah." Jo slurred back. A big smile on her face.
Jo soon remembered her surroundings. That Chris was standing behind her.
"Lindsay, this is Chris. Chris, this is Lindsay. My girlfriend."
Chris held his hand out and Lindsay took it and shook it.
"So, you're the woman that Jo's been going about all night?" Chris said.
Jo quickly turned her head around to glare at Chris.
"I am. I hope she hasn't been too much trouble for you." Lindsay said.
"No, we had a good time. She did dedicate a song to you at karaoke."
Jo tuned her head back around and looked down. Cheeks flushing red, embarrassed by the secrets Chris was spilling.
"Was it... I can't help falling in love with you?"
"It was."
"Yeah, it's our song."
"It was nice meeting you Lindsay but I need to go home before I fall over myself. Here are her keys." Chris outstretched his hand to pass them over and Lindsay took them. She put them on the table beside the door. She took her purse out the pocket of her dressing gown.
"She probably hasn't paid you for the taxi."
"Oh, it's fine. Don't worry about it."
No, here you go." Lindsay took £20 from her purse and held it out over Jo's shoulder.
"Thanks." Chris took the money. "You might want to get her some water. She's had a lot to drink. Bye Jo, I'll see you tomorrow at work. Hopefully without the hangover."
"Bye." Lindsay shouted waving and Jo turned to do the same. "Bye Chris." Jo mumbled.
They watched as he got in the taxi and it drove away from the front of the house.
"Right, let's get you inside." Lindsay said to Jo.
Lindsay wrapped her arms around her and pulled her out from where she was resting on the wall. She got her inside when the woman remembered how to use her legs and closed the door behind them both. Standing in the hallway, Lindsay took her handbag from her and hung it up on the hook behind the door along with the woman's jacket and placed her shoes on the floor beside them. Drunk Jo making it as hard as possible.
"Go sit on the couch, I'll get you some water."
Jo stumbled into the living room. Lindsay following her inside.
"I don't need water. I'm not drunk." Jo slurred.
It was obviously to Lindsay that she was, she kept a laugh to herself.
"I've had two..."
"Bottles?" Lindsay asked.
"Glasses." Jo said shocked.
"Sure, you have Jo. Do I look like I was born yesterday?" Lindsay lightly mocked.
Lindsay smiled wide when she realised how much she loved this drunk, very hot, rambling woman.
Lindsay leaned in to reach Jo sitting on the couch. Her hand went under the woman's chin and she kissed Jo gently on the lips. She then pulled away and smiled.
"Back in two."
Lindsay came back through holding the basin from the sink. Placed inside was a glass of water for Jo and some paracetamol. She placed it on the coffee table and took the items out and passed them to Jo. She swigged some water back to take with the paracetamol.
"All of it." Lindsay said glaring at Jo.
"You're not my mother." Jo said shocked.
"No but I'm your girlfriend who cares about you and doesn't want you waking up with a raging hangover tomorrow."
"Fine." Jo said defiantly, she downed the rest of the glass like a shot. "Just because you care."
Lindsay stood up, basin in hand, and so did Jo.
"I do." Lindsay said. Pulling Jo into her arms and placing a kiss on her forehead. "Let's go upstairs."
Lindsay let Jo go first so that she could be behind her on the walk upstairs, just in case anything happened to Jo. They got to the hallway, Jo still in front.
"Do you need a hand?" Lindsay asked, trying to hide her amusement.
"No, I can get upstairs myself." Jo started to walk but soon found herself sprawled across one of the steps.
Lindsay was about to ask again but Jo could tell it was coming. She turned her head quickly to look at Lindsay and stuck her finger out. "No, I can do it myself."
Jo then stayed on the ground and started to crawl up the stairs. It was the only way to do it without the room spinning. She was about to turn into their room when Lindsay stopped her.
"Toilet first. I'm not having you wet the bed after the last time that happened."
"Oh, fine." Jo said staring at Lindsay and she stuck her tongue out.
Jo turned right into the bathroom. She plopped herself on the toilet, not closing the door. Lindsay had seen it all anyway. She quickly washed her hands and walked into their bedroom. Lindsay close on her heels. Lindsay placed the basin on the floor of Jo's side of the bed.
"Lie down, Jo and I'll take your clothes off."
"If you wanted sex Lindsay all you had to do was ask." Jo laughed.
Jo sat on the bed and fell backwards with a thump, emphasising her point.
Lindsay shook her head. "Not tonight, darling. You're too drunk for that." Lindsay kissed her briefly on the lips. Jo huffed in return.
Lindsay unhooked the back of Jo's dress at the neck.
"Lift your hips." Lindsay asked and Jo did it. Lindsay pulled the garment gently from her body and dropped it on the floor. She would wash it tomorrow.
Lindsay then unhooked Jo's bra and dropped it to the floor too where she would deal with it later. She dropped her own nightgown to the floor.
"Up you get into bed." Lindsay said and Jo did as she was told. Lindsay slipping in the other side. Both of them staring at each other. Lindsay hooked a strand of loose hair behind Jo's ear.
"Did you have a good time?" Lindsay asked and Jo nodded.
"Yes, I was sad that you couldn't be there and I'm sorry if I woke you up."
"I'm sorry, I had to work but don't worry I couldn't sleep. I was waiting for you to get in. I was doing a crossword puzzle to pass the time. I feel much better that you got home safe. I might have to buy Chris a box of chocolates to make up for you causing trouble."
Jo slapped Lindsay lightly on the arm. "I did not."
"I was joking. I know that. I love you."
"I love you too." Jo yawned and closed her eyes, tired after the night's activities.
Lindsay pulled the smaller woman in close, closing her own eyes. She was glad of her company, finally getting a good night's rest.
