Chapter 36, enjoy!

*Don't forget to read Ch 35*

"Mr. and Mrs. Taylor," Jason started at the dinner table after church. "I want to say thank you for letting me stay with you after everything happened with Erin."

"Of course Jason, you are always welcome here," Tami replied.

"I really need to get started on filing for divorce and should probably go visit my parents, so towards the end of this week or beginning of the next I will be driving down to Dillon," Jason explained.

"We are going to miss you, but we understand," Eric responded.

"We have really enjoyed having you around," Tami stated.

"Again, thank you for taking me in," Jason thanked again. The table went silent as everyone ate their meal.

"And I was thinking about going with him," Julie eventually announced. She received a curious look from both of her parents. "I want to see some old friends, maybe start a life down there. I can't live with you forever, and after all I left Matt and Chicago so I could be happy. I think visiting Dillon will make me happy," Julie explained.

"Wow our house went from overflowing to nearly empty during one dinner," Tami said.

"So I can go?" Julie questioned.

"You're an adult, you can make your own decisions. If you think it would be best, then I guess you should go," Tami told her daughter as they cleared the table. "Are you planning on staying or just visiting? You mentioned a job."

"I haven't really decided yet, and maybe just a temporary job so I can get by on my own. Or maybe I will decided to stay there, I don't know yet."

"All this talk about Dillon made me realize I need to call Buddy back," Eric stated as he excused himself to the bedroom to make the phone call.

When he got to he and Tami's room, he searched in his phone for Buddy Garrity's contact and pressed the call button.

"Eric, hey!" Buddy greeted when he answered the phone.

"Hello Buddy, how have you been?" Eric asked.

"I can't complain. Lyla and her kids moved in with me after her husband died about two years ago, so my house is full of life."

"That must be nice to have your grandkids living with you," Eric replied.

"Sure is! Way better than them living way off in Tennessee. It was devastating for Lyla and the kids when he died, but it's been nice having her around. How about you, how are things going for you?" Buddy questioned.

"Not too bad," Eric responded, not elaborating much.

"Well, I guess I'll get to the point here-"

"I knew you had an agenda Buddy," Eric interrupted.

"I do, Eric. The football program here has gone to hell in a hand basket,"

"With Mac coaching?"

"No, Mac retired. We've got Coach Barnett," Buddy clarified. "And this terrible offensive coordinator he brought in to replace Crowley," Buddy groaned.

"And let me guess, you want me to come back?" Eric asked, knowing all too well where this conversation would end up. As much as he wanted to go back, he couldn't.

"That was the idea," Buddy told him.

"I'm sorry Buddy, I can't. Tami has an amazing job here and we moved here for her. This was her dream job, I can't take it away from her," Eric denied the offer.

"Well thanks anyways. Do you at least have any suggestions?" Buddy replied.

"I couldn't tell you very many good coaches in Texas anymore, I've been away too long. Let me do some thinking and I can give you some recommendations," Eric stated.

"Well thank you for your time Eric, let me know some of those recommendations. It's been nice talking to you," Buddy said before he and Eric each said their goodbyes and hung up.

"What did Buddy want?" Tami asked when Eric emerged from their bedroom.

"Just wanted to catch up, Eric lied. "You know how Buddy is, he likes to yack."
