Bella POV:
I can't ever remember being this relieved. Being able to breath fresh air with a sense of relief of his presence next to me. His mere smile highlighting the day for me and the next few days to come. I know it was probably a comment in Alice's head to make him chuckle this way but that changed nothing for me. The sound was like magic to my ears. We were sitting at our now usual table in the cafeteria, with Angela and Ben hiding hands under the table and Jess and Mike sneaking glances at each other. The Cullen's were always a different story based on their beauty alone. Alice had this way of communicating with Jasper in a way that was past their mystical being. The looks of faith and happiness she gave him were enough to fill a book, and by his very minute responses, it was enough for him as-well.
Back to the man I held in such stature.
"You're doing it again" He whispered smiling, not even looking at me.
"What?" I asked with enough curiosity to bare truth.
"Thinking too much. Too much for your own good." I knew with the slightest head turn that Alice had heard and was now invested.
I kept quiet and appreciated him more. The past few months of misery and unprecedented pain meant nothing to me. All that mattered was that he was back where he belonged. Next to me.
"Shut up" I joked hoping he would drop his curious nature. He frowned but didn't continue while Alice explained her birthday she had planned.
"Wait…the party is going to be at your house? At like the Cullen house?" I don't think that Jess had sounded so excited since she had last looked at Edward. There was a tiny pause while the Cullen's at the table smiled internally at the question. Of Course.
We were driving home in comfortable silence where I was falling asleep to the radiator blasting at me when I suddenly realised my head was against the moving window of the car. I looked towards his smile and knew I had been caught out.
"Hey, you tire me out with your perfection sometimes." I started to close my eyes again before I heard the engine roar.
"We are nearly at your house so I thought it would try to not wake you up".
His smile took me away with him and I couldn't help but smile back. I know Charlie wasn't ready to let him in the house yet, but I wouldn't let that stop us spending as much time together as possible. Suddenly a question had rose inside me.
"Hey, what did Alice see today? She looked confused." I observed how Edwards's eyebrows furrowed as he had the same expression as her.
"We saw you talking to someone in your house who I didn't recognise. I don't understand your reaction to them. Like I don't understand most of your reactions" He smiled at the end to lighten the mood.
"But Charlie seems to like them. I think a family member or something. I didn't think you had any family that would visit you in Forks?" Now I was just as confused as him. I didn't have any family that visit. Me and Charlie were the only people I could imagine in our tiny house and that's the ways we both liked it.
"Maybe it's someone that works with Charlie?" I questioned as I yawned, not fully taking in whose car was in the driveway.
"You still need to hunt though so don't think you can use this as an excuse to stay with me. I know that someone will be watching the area tonight in case of Victoria" I smirked as his plan was appearing to me. His incessant worrying was as extreme as my love for him so I couldn't object to it. With Victoria still not caught, his worry was slightly justified.
Slowly we pulled up to my house and he started to focus more than usual, and I knew on what. His eyes lightened up and a satisfied smile pulled at the ends of his mouth. I tried to focus on how happy he looked but I needed to know.
"Go on, who is it?" I questioned while trying to look inside the house and gain some insight.
"An old friend of Charlie's. They used to go fishing together a long time ago and he's moved back to the area. Charlie is ecstatic to see him again. I sense the danger is minimum with Charlie around" He beamed at me while I continued my confusion. Then again, if Charlie was friends with then I sure I wouldn't be a hinderance to them.
I gave Edward a kiss goodbye my lips lingering more than his as I continued to push the boundaries. He was the first one to pull away.
"I shouldn't be too long, till morning at latest. But l will have my phone if you need me" I nodded but didn't let go of my grip on his hair for a few moments. Slowly I left the car with my backpack on my shoulder watching as he drove away at a healthy speed, knowing it wouldn't stay that way for long.
I made my ways up the porch and entered the house to hear a sound I rarely came home to. Laughter. A smile spread across my face as I looked onto the front room ad saw Charlie and the back of a dark-haired head, both focused on the fishing documentary playing on the tv set that I don't think they were listening too closely to.
