"He's an arse."

Hermione jumped as Ginny's voice sounded behind her. She was sitting in an empty classroom lit only by the moonlight. Ron had just kissed Lavender in front of the whole Gryffindor Common Room after agreeing to be her date to Slughorn's Christmas do.

"Hi, Ginny." She replied without turning around. Ginny moved forward and sat beside her, watching as Hermione dried her eyes with the sleeve of her shirt.

"You can do better than him, Hermione. You shouldn't let Ron get to you." She said, placing a hand on her shoulder.

"It's not Ron. I always knew we weren't exactly made for each other but…" Hermione trailed off, looking out the window at the night sky.

"But what?

"If I can't even hold the attention of Ronal Weasley, how am I ever going to find someone that wants to be with me?"

"Maybe you're not looking in the right place-"

"Please, Gin. I hear what they say about me. I'm a know-it-all swot with out of control hair who intimidates anyone who gives me a second look." Hermione interrupted with a scoff.

"You don't intimidate me." Ginny responded softly.

"Yes, well, you don't give me a second look."

"Hermione, I give you a third look."

Hermione paused and slowly looked up at Ginny.

"You -What?"

They stared at each other and after what felt like an hour, Ginny leaned towards Hermione slowly, giving her enough time to back away.

Just as their lips touched, Ginny closed her eyes and Hermione froze, her mind moving miles a minute. She was already thinking about what might happen once their kiss was over. Before her mind could get any further into its panic, she registered the smell of pumpkins and cinnamon. It was Ginny and she smelled like home.

Hermione closed her eyes and relaxed herself into the kiss. Ginny's hand slid past her shoulder and up her neck before tangling in her hair, pulling her closer. Hermione began returning the kiss with ferve, her own hand moving to Ginny's thigh.

The kiss continued for several more minutes, only ending when they both needed to catch their breath.

They sat side-by-side, looking out of the window in front of them. Finally, Hermione turned to Ginny with a smile on her face.

"A third look, hm?" She asked, her face glowing. Ginny laughed and winked at her.

"I'll even give you a fourth if you want."
