A/N: Existential dread setting in.

OOOOOOOOO

Drew rushed up flight of stairs after flight of stairs, rushing to reach the rooftop. He had to get to the top, to the roof. Someone was up there that desperately needed his help.

Let me make it before she decides to do it…please let me make it in time…

He burst through the door that led to the roof of the hotel and looked around. His eyes landed on the only other person that was up there. She was perched on the edge of the roof, overlooking the world beyond them.

"Rachel," he said, moving slowly so as not to spook her. "Rachel, come down."

The woman ignored his order. "The people look so small down there. Kind of like ants." She let out a little laugh. "You know, we are rather like ants…always busy, always on the move."

Her rainbow colored hair blew in the wind and she turned her face in profile to look at him with one brown eye. Drew never saw someone as beautiful as her, but he'd always been afraid to admit it. She'd never entered a relationship with anyone in the WWE Universe – though many had tried. But she kept him close, let him know her darkest secrets.

"I wanted to say goodbye," Rachel told him with a soft smile. "To let you know, none of this was your fault." She looked away. "You don't have to stay to see me fly. I wouldn't wish that on anyone."

Drew shook his head and moved closer. "You're not going to jump, Rachel. Life is still worth fighting for."

"I'm not so sure about that…"

"I am."

"Well, good for you. Live. Have a family. Win many more championship titles. Forget about me. I'm just going to hold you back."

She shifted on the edge of the roof and Drew's heart raced. He moved closer still. Something had to be done.

"Why would you do something like this, Rachel love?" Drew asked, watching her. "I know you've been having nightmares and had your medications changed recently. What has you so upset that you want to end your life?"

Rachel bowed her head. "He's getting out of prison tomorrow…"

"What?"

"Drew, please don't make me repeat myself. You know how that bothers me." She shuddered. "He used to make me repeat myself, only to not like what I said and then hit me. Again and again and again."

"Love," Drew said, watching her rise to her feet and start walking on the narrow lip of the roof. "What do you mean he's getting out of prison? They said he'd be there for -"

"Good behavior does wonders to trick the mind of a panel of judiciaries and guards," she told him, balancing carefully. "Being a good boy and being oh so helpful to everyone, it let him out of his cage where I'd hope he'd rot."

"That doesn't mean that he's going to bother you. We're several states away from him."

Rachel waved him off. "He's already started making phone calls. Every day like clockwork. Nine, four, eight…Just to remind me that his time is coming up and he can't wait to see me again." She frowned. "And he seems to think he can get his job back."

Drew snorted despite himself. "Like Vince would let him come back. After all the problems he made for you and some of the other Divas. Hell will freeze over before Vince lets him back into the company.

"He said he had a way back in…and even then, he can still come to my home. He can still track me down." Rachel blew a wisp of hair out of her face. "No one will help me get the tracking app off my phone. So…"

The Superstar looked up at her and motioned for her to come down. "Come over here and I'll do it myself."

"No," Rachel said, turning away. "I can't. I can't stand it anymore. If he comes back, he's going to hurt me. And I will not go through that again." She sniffed. "I just want peace. All the nightmares are coming back. I won't go through with it all over again, Drew!"

Drew jumped forward and grabbed her around the middle, pulling her to safety. She cried out and kicked her legs, but Drew held on tight. He backed up until they were almost to the door to the hotel and held her.

"You're not going to go through it alone, Rachel. I promise. Finn will never, ever hurt you again. He'll have to go through my dead body to get to you and if you recall, he's never beaten me before."

Rachel broke out into sobs, her entire body trembling. "Drew, just let me go! Please, please! I can't let him haunt me anymore! I can't be around to see him do it to another girl!"

Drew shook his head and looked out at the world for a moment. He turned her around in his arms and held her close, letting her cry into his chest. The Superstar stroked her hair, offering silent support. He pressed a kiss to her hair and breathed in her warm scent.

"Please…" Rachel whispered against his chest. "Just let me…please…"

"Rachel, I won't let you go," Drew promised softly, still petting her hair. "The world will be poorer without you in it…you have the most beautiful, gentle soul in the whole world, love. Don't take yourself away from it…don't take yourself away before I can tell you…"

Rachel sniffled and looked up at him with wet eyes. "What do you want to tell me?"

This isn't how I wanted to tell her…I wanted it to be perfect and peaceful…not when you're fighting against me for your life…

Drew offered her a gentle smile. "I wanted to tell you that I love you. I'm perfectly and completely in love with you and I've been fighting with myself for weeks on how to tell you."

The Diva blinked her eyes several times like she couldn't believe what she was hearing. She took a step back and put a hand through her hair. "Wow…you? Um…I don't know what to say…I mean…" She put her hands on her hips. "This is such a perfect time to tell me, ain't it?"

Heat flushed Drew's cheeks and he rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Well…"

Rachel let out a little laugh and hugged herself as if it was the only thing keeping her together. Tears fell from her eyes, but Drew wasn't sure that they were sad tears anymore. She offered him a smile.

"I can't see why tonight wouldn't be the absolute perfect time for something like this to happen," Rachel said, lowering her arms. "Find new love and all that on the day I decide to off myself just to avoid my ex-boyfriend and the nightmares and –"

Drew held up a hand to silence her. "Shh…don't focus on that. Don't focus on him. He's irrelevant. Those nightmares, I'll help you deal with, even more than I have already. I'll be with you every step of the way."

"But what about the phone calls?"

"Give me your phone," Drew said, holding his hand out.

Rachel reached into her pocket and withdrew her phone. She passed it over and Drew scrolled through her recent calls. One number stood out over and over again. It looked like Rachel had never answered after the first couple of calls. But Drew was determined for it to never happen again.

He pressed a few buttons and then held the phone back out to her. "There. That number is blocked. And tomorrow morning, we can go to the nearest phone store of your choice and get you a new phone and number. Then he won't be able to call you ever again."

The rainbow haired Diva looked from her phone to him and repeated the action several times before taking a breath. "What about him coming to my house? Finn knows my address. He could -"

Drew suddenly felt nervous and beads of sweat formed on his brow. "Um, well, you see…you could…move in…with me?"

Color filled Rachel's cheeks. "Are you asking me to move in with you…so soon?"

"Yeah. Yeah, I am." Drew nodded. "It's not like Finn would dare come onto my property. Especially when I'm around."

"And if you're not around?"

"Then I'll hire private security to keep an eye on you." Drew cocked his head to the side. "You have a restraining order against him, don't you?

"As far as I'm aware."

"So if he even tries to come near you, he'll get his happy ass sent back to jail." Drew put his hands on her arms and squeezed gently. "Everything is going to be okay." He offered her a crooked smile. "Come on, let me see you smile."

Rachel sheepishly smiled at him and swayed slightly, looking like she was pondering something. Drew pressed a kiss to her forehead, her nose, and finally, her lips. Rachel threw her arms around his neck and kissed him back.

When they had to surface for air, color had flushed Rachel's skin until it almost glowed in the setting sun. She laughed gently and looked at him.

"Come on," Drew said with a grin. "Let's go get a bite to eat."

"Okay."
