Gotta go faster! Alice thought as she ran, trying to get away from the men pursuing her. She skidded to a stop when a member of Sector Seven stepped out in front of her. "It's no use running kid. Just come back with us", he said. Alice glanced behind her and saw four more S7 soldiers.
"I'm through being Simmons' guinea pig", Alice said, her Scottish accent much more pronounced due to her anger. Before any of the men could do anything, she rushed at the one in front of her, hitting him hard enough to send him flying back a few feet. Alice then took off, the men once more chasing her. This time they decided to shoot at her as well. She cried out when a blast caught her side but kept going. There was no way, no how she was going back to that hell hole. Six months was more than enough.
Her ears picked up the sound of running water up ahead and she veered off towards it. If she could get to the river, she'd be safe. Alice bit her lip as she clambered over a fallen log, the pain in her side having got to the point where she wanted to pass out. But she couldn't afford to do that, she had to keep going. "Oh thank god", Alice panted seeing the river ahead. The gap was pretty wide but she was sure she could make that. Thanks to those experiments she thought bitterly. It had been complete and utter torture for her during those six months. However, the result of those awful experiences gave her abilities that enabled her to escape the transport that had been taking her to yet another lab.
When she was just inches from the water's edge, Alice launched herself into the air. She cried out when she was shot in the back mid jump, causing her to plummet into the water. Immediately she was swept away. The S7 soldiers that had been pursuing her stopped at the water's edge. "Should we go after her?" one of them asked.
"No", the one who shot her replied "there's no way she could've survived that". The four walked away completely unaware that further down the river, Alice had managed to pull herself out of the water badly wounded but still alive. Shivering, she stumbled along knowing she wasn't going to last too much longer unless she could find some help.
In a clearing up ahead, Bumblebee was stretching his limbs as they felt a bit stiff from being in his vehicle mode for quite a while. He froze when he saw a young human girl stumble into the clearing. She stared at him for a moment before she collapsed. The Autobot scout carefully went over to the girl, whirring worriedly at her injuries. He knew he couldn't leave her there, she could die if her wounds weren't tended to quickly. Bumblebee quickly left the area, carefully transforming himself around the girl as soon as he was close enough to the road. He then drove off towards the nearest hospital.
~Hospital~
Slowly Alice cracked her eyes open, frowning when she heard steady beeping. She glanced to the left and saw a heart monitor. She gasped sitting bolt upright. She was in a hospital. How the heck did she get here? Was it some good Samaritan that found her in the forest and took her to be checked out? If it was the case, they really ought not to have done that. She had no idea if there were undercover S7 agents working at the hospital. If there were…she was in terrible danger. Alice quickly yanked off the covers, noting that her injuries had thankfully been tended to. She removed the wires that had attached her to the heart monitor, making sure she quickly switched it off before anyone heard the beeping change to a steady tone. Alice crept over to the door, glanced out to see if the coast was clear. It was. She stepped out of the room and then she ran.
Alice burst out of the hospital entrance with several guards and a couple of orderlies chasing after her. But she didn't stop though. She just kept running, silently thankful that her 6 months of torture at the hands of S7 had resulted in her being faster, giving her an edge over her pursuers. Eventually they gave up the chase. Alice on the other hand didn't stop till she was in a residential area. She darted down an alley behind some houses, not even noticing the yellow camaro that had been following her the entire time. The teen spied some clothes on a washing line in one of the back gardens. She didn't want to steal but she didn't particularly want to wander around where ever she was in just a hospital gown. Alice slipped into the back garden snatched a pair of jeans, t-shirt and a black hoodie. With the bundle of clothes she quickly left to find a place she could hide so she could change. Once Alice found a suitable hiding spot, she swapped the hospital gown for the stolen clothes, grateful to the fact that she still had her underwear on. The only thing she didn't have was a pair of shoes but at least she had a hoodie which would be able hide who she was to any cameras.
Pulling the hood up over her face, Alice stepped out of her hiding spot. She walked down the street, hands in pockets pretending like she was an ordinary teenaged girl and not an escaped prisoner of some shady sect.
The blonde paused in front of a sign, her eyes widening. She was in Tranquillity! This was where she was going before Sector 7 snatched her up. She could finally be reunited with her godparents! She started off but not before she noticed something out of the corner of her eye. A yellow camaro was idling by the kerb not a foot behind her. Far too close for her liking. Alice walked off, not looking back at the camaro as she didn't want whomever was following her to realise that she knew they were following her. She turned the corner…and ran.
Alice didn't know where she was going to. All she knew was that she had to lose the camaro. Alice turned this way and that, eventually ending up at a construction site. She didn't stop, jumping at the chain linked fence, clambering up and over the top. Alice dashed over to a pile of concrete blocks and ducked down. She stayed there for a moment to catch her breath before peeking over the blocks to see if she could spot the camaro. She watched as it drove past the fence and breathed a sigh of relief. Alice waited for a second longer before she emerged from her hiding place and hurried off in the opposite direction.
Suddenly she heard the sound of barking. Alice glanced over at the source and saw two rather large dogs. "Oh shit", she cursed as the dogs rushed towards her. The teenager started to run again. She darted into a rather large, partially constructed building. Alice went for the scaffolding inside but before she could grab hold of the metal poles to pull herself up and out of reach of the dogs, one of them lunged at her, grabbing hold her ankle with its mouth. "Get off me!" she exclaimed kicking the dog with her free foot. Alice rolled over and braced herself for another attack by the canines when the yellow camaro made an appearance. The sudden appearance of the vehicle coupled with the loud rumble of its engine was enough to scare the dogs away. Alice pushed herself to her feet. "Alright you Sector Seven goon. You got me, now come out of the car so I can kick your ass for what you did to me", she demanded. What happened next came as a complete shock to her. The camaro transformed into a giant robot! "Well…I didn't see that coming", Alice remarked.
"Are you ok little lady?" the robot asked. It's voice sounded like it was coming from a radio.
"Uh...yeah", Alice replied slowly "Thanks for the save and for taking me to the hospital". She assumed it was him due to the fact that she'd seen him in the clearing for a very brief moment before she collapsed.
"No problem"
Alice stood up "I'm Alice", she said introducing herself "what's your name?"
"Bumblebee", the robot replied.
"Bumblebee", Alice repeated "it's nice to meet you". She held out her hand and Bumblebee looked at it confused. "Hold out your hand", she instructed. When Bumblebee did so, she reached over, took a hold of one of his metal fingers and shook it. "It's a handshake", she explained "a form of greeting when you meet someone. Sometimes you say 'It's nice to meet you'. So...It's nice to meet you Bumblebee".
"It's nice to meet you too...Alice"
"Now I don't want you think I'm ungrateful…" Alice started "I really do appreciate you taking me to the hospital but you shouldn't have done that. There are some...bad men who are after me".
"These...the same bad men...who...hurt you?" Bumblebee asked.
"Yes", Alice replied "those men are part of a group called Sector 7. They kidnapped me and subjected me to some not very nice things…" the blonde swallowed trying not to choke up while she was explaining "I managed to escape while they were transporting me to another lab. Not long after that I ran into you" she ran a hand through her shoulder length hair "honestly Bee, I'm scared" she confessed. Thought she had the capabilities one would attribute to a super soldier, she didn't want Sector 7 getting hold of her. The punishment alone for escaping...she shuddered to think what they'd do to her for that. Bumblebee reached forward and gently touched her face, capturing the tear that rolled down her cheek.
"I will protect you from all around you", Bumblebee said using a clip from Phil Collins' You'll be in my heart. Alice leant into his touch, giving him a small smile.
"Thank you Bee", she said sincerely.
