THE FIRST MISSION

The cold air was blowing gently in the night as the security guard walked down the halls of the Silph Company. With a flashlight in his hand, he was doing his regular patrols while his partner worked at the security room checking the cameras located all over the building. After turning down a hallway, he grabbed his walkie talkie. "Hey Mike, I just finished the patrol on the second floor. The area is all clear on my end, do you see any on yours?"

In the security room, Mike, who was looking at the security cameras, while also stuffing his face with a Donut, nearly dropped it as he reached his walkie talkie. "Wh-wha? Oh yeah, john. Everything's clear on my end!" He said with his mouth full.

John sighed. "Please tell me you're not stuffing your face with Donuts again?"

"... I'm not stuffing my face with Donuts again."

John groaned. "Dude seriously? Can't you take anything seriously? This is an important job we got from Jenny so can you please take this seriously?!"

"I take things seriously!" Mike replied. "I just don't see what's so great about working security at this place. It's a bore!"

As they argued, John failed to notice that behind him while he was talking, a shadow sped past him. John perked his head up and turned around and shined his flashlight in the area. There was nothing there. "Uh, Mike...you sure everything's clear on your end?"

Mike raised an eyebrow. "Well yeah, I just said so."

"Well check again! I thought I heard something!"

Mike sighed and rolled his eyes. "Alright, just calm down. Let me see..." As he started checking the security, he failed to notice someone was now in the same room as him and was now standing right behind him.

John stood in place as he waited for Mike to respond. But he didn't.

"...Mike?" He asked the walkie.

No response.

John got nervous. "Mike, do you copy? Mike?!"

No response.

"I got a bad feeling about this...!" He was just about to head to the security room when he heard the noise again. Jumping, he pulled out a gun and turned around, prepared to shoot whoever was standing there...but instead of an intruder, he saw the last thing anyone expected to see. An Espeon.

He stared and tilted his head, the Espeon doing the same.

He then released a breath he didn't know he had and put the gun back. "Oh...it's just a Pokemon. Few...!" He knelt at the pokemon and ruffled its hair. "Whats a cute little thing like you doing in a place like this?"

Without warning, the Espeon growled as its eyes glowed light blue and John found himself outlined in light blue and unable to move. "What the-?!" He then found it hard to breathe as he felt himself being crushed. "A-Ah! Ugh...ugh...!" His head went limp as he lost consciousness.

Espeon then promptly dropped him on the floor as another person stepped up from the shadows from behind her. "Nice work Ava." He said as he rubbed his hand on her affectionately, her purring in response. After shoving and binding the guard in the nearest closet, he then put a finger to his ear as he activated his communicator. "Hey, I took care of the guard. You took care of yours, assuming you didn't fall asleep on the job that is?" He asked with a smirk.

"The security system is down now. Make your way to the destination point." was the only response he got as the walkie went quiet. The smirk dropped from his face "Could at least have some fun with this" as he put the walkie back in its holsters. He shook his head in exasperation "Why did they partner me with this guy" as he walked down the hallway.

Rory turned back to the security matrix and took out all the alarms from the rooms. "Good. Now let's see what these Master balls are."

Samuel walked down the hallway at a calm pace with his Espeon Ava, at his side. They soon came to a door that was big, shiny, and looked important. "Well...this looks fortified." He walked forward as the door opened up for him. "And if so then that can only mean..!" He looked around the room. "That's because there's something worth protecting!"

He then saw what he needed to see. The main computer. "And Bingo was his name-o!" He quickly dashed forward with Ava by his side. "Alright, I found the main computer room!" He said into his ear communicator. "Beginning to search for data." He then started typing on the computer. "Let's see, what treasures does this chest possess?" He then saw it was password protected. "Huh, seems like the chest needs its key, good thing I have the spare right, Ava?"

"Vee!" She replied.

"Don't get distracted. Remember the objective." Roy said over the radio.

Sam rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, keep your 'stache on Groucho." He replied as he inserted a flash drive. He started typing again, and almost instantly sent the virus into the system, successfully entering the correct password. "I have access. Let's see..." He took out the flash drive, and within a few moments, the files he needed to get appeared on the big screen. "Alright! I found the Master Ball data! I'm copying it now."

A buffer screen appeared on the screen as the download commenced. After a few more seconds had passed, the download was done. "Alright, the data has been successfully copied, I've sent the data to you now, do you see it?"

He pulled out his phone and got the notification of a file "Got it. Report to the extraction point." He made his way to the extraction point which would be in the back of the building. Still, he mentally sighed 'Why do they hire immature agents? Team rocket is not like how my father talked about it. At least not how it was.' He pulled out his virus plugged into the monitors and erased all of the footage for the last few hours leaving no trace of any of them even being in the building.

He left a dummy flash drive in the hands of the security guards, Making his way out and waited for his partner to come.

After logging out of the supercomputer, he exited the room and proceeded to leave the building, Ava following quickly behind. "Alright then, time to make our daring escape!" He turned and saw that down the hallway was a window. "And there's my exit."

He and Ava quickly dashed to the window. He carefully opened it and stepped outside, looking at the ground below from the second floor. "Hup!" He said as he and Ave jumped out the window, and landed on the ground, a few feet away from Roy.

He dusted himself off and walked towards his partner. "Well, I dare say that mission was a complete success." He said as he pulled out a small rectangular device and held it open. "Shall we report to the boss?"

He swiped the flash drive from his hand "HEY" "We will, once we leave the crime scene, agent" Rory summoned his Gengar and hopped on top of it "Top and north Gengar" Rory said pointing at the buildings above.

"You know, if you wanted to hold it you could've asked. It's not as if I was going to use it then and there." He huffed as his Ava rested upon his shoulder. His visor flipped up, revealing his Amber eyes. He decided to try and start a conversation, considering this was their first mission together, might as well learn about each other.

Plus he was bored.

He looked at the Gengar. "Huh. A Gengar huh? Not a bad Pokemon to have if I do say so myself. She seems like a strong partner to have. I take it she's your main Pokemon?"

"He's my main Pokémon" was Rory's response to the now flustered Agent.

"Oh sorry, is HE your main pokemon?" he asked again

"No, she's my main pokemon"

This time Sam's face flattened "You're messing with me now"

"Alright if you think I'm messing with you. Let's ask the Gengar. Gengar, are you a boy or a girl?"

"Gen Gengar"

He waved his nonchalant hand at Sam "You got your answer Gengar is what it is"

"...I really don't like you"

"We're landing," he said all of a sudden and they landed down on a building with Rory pulling out their holo-communicator and called their mission leader

Rory pressed the button on the pad, and a small holographic screen appeared showing the Team Rocket logo but was then replaced by a woman with glasses and purple hair. This was Matori, Giovanni's secretary. "Team Rocket Headquarters." She said with a cool tone.

"Put us through to the boss," Roy replied.

"Hold on a moment." She said as she looked away. Instantly, the screen changed, showing a man wearing an expensive orange suit. This was Giovanni, head of Team Rocket. Samual and Roy instantly stood straight and saluted, their Pokemon following suit.

"Giovanni Sir!" They said in unison.

"This is Agent Archard and Agent Xanther reporting," Samuel said.

"Ah, it's you two," Giovanni said. "I trust that the mission was a success?"

"Yes sir," Samuel replied. "We have successfully infiltrated the Silph Company and obtained the data on the Master ball."

"We're sending the files to you now," Xanther replied as he took out his phone, and after pressing a button, sent the files to the boss.

There was a noise and Giovani looked at something to his left. A few clicks and keyboard noises with his eyes being more and more intrigued "Well Agents, looks like our suspicions were correct. The great Master ball that they were creating is now ours. With this all of those great Pokémon will be under our tutelage!" he said with a smile turning back to the agents ``I also assume there is no trace of us left correct?"

"Yes, all the footage of the last few hours has been erased and we've left the dummy flash drive in the hands of the guards. Making them seem to have done it" said Xanther.

"Great news. Well not to keep you waiting here. The money is waiting for you at the said locations sent to your devices. As always make sure you follow the directions in that message and..." he put his hand forward "Don't forget to enjoy it. You've earned it. Team Rocket!"

"Team Rocket" they saluted and the transmission was cut off.

The next morning, at the local Pokemon center, the two Elite Agents were relaxing in the lobby as Nurse Joy looked over their Pokemon. All except Ava, who was currently eating food from a bowl. Sam had changed into his trainer outfit, resting his feet on the table and reading a book in one hand, a drink in another.

His trainer outfit consisted of black fingerless gloves and a grey and white t-Shirt with a white and red poke-ball insignia on the left side. He wore faded black jeans with a gray belt and shoes that matched his pants. He also had a black and grey leather jacket that was currently laid on the chair he was currently sitting on. To finish his outfit, he had on a grey and black cap on his head with a red Pokeball insignia, that was currently placed on his head lopsided.

"Ahh...nothing like relaxing after a big mission to help put your mind and body at ease." He said as he casually took a sip of his drink and turned the page of his book, reading about Fossilized Pokemon. "Wouldn't you agree, Roy?" He asked as he looked at his partner.

"Sure," he said. Rory was leaning forward with his hands together and his foot tapping away anxiously. Today was a training day on his schedule where not only was his body to be tested but his pokemon as well, usually in fights. Making the Team Rocket Agent look intensely at nurse Joy and waiting for her to go ahead.

This tapping did not go unnoticed by Samuel who found it odd for such a stoic person to also be so anxious, but it didn't bother him. At first, now after a while of the foot-tapping and not getting any more than a one-word answer from the man was getting on his nerves until... "Would you stop being so anxiously annoying! Making my time off feel unlike it's my time off man." He also put down his book and his drink for dramatic effect.

Rory looked at him then glanced down back at the grown and stopping his foot-tapping "... sorry"

Samuel huffed and went back to his book "Why did I get such a weird partner"

Not long after, Nurse Joy returned with a Chansey by her side. "Here you are. Both of your Pokemon are up to full health!" She said as the Chansey brought them a tray with their Poke balls. "Thank you, Nurse Joy," Sam said as he stood up and grabbed his Poke balls, Rory doing the same. "Thanks."

"You both have a nice day now!" She said as she went back to work. "Cha Chansey!" Her Pokemon said as it followed her. Sam turned to Rory. "Well no point staying here, now. Got any suggestions on what to do? I'm open for anything as long as it's not boring."

Training. I'm heading to the local gyms." Rory responded by walking away.

Sam quickly caught up and put his hands behind his hands "Alright, there could be fun there"

They started walking and Sam started whistling to fill in the silence. When that wasn't enough he tried to do some small talk "So, what are you gonna use your money for? I plan to get some of the latest pokemon treats ''Espeon" Sam smiled down at his pokemon "Yeah you'll get a lot and also probably gonna get some of the latest pokemon books' ' he said thoughtfully.

"Food, Equipment, and Books'' was his simple answer which did not satisfy his co-agent "What kind of books?" "Pokémon and Management books'' the last one of those did not escape him "are you planning to run a business or what?" This time Rory was quiet for a moment making Sam even more curious however before he could probe further "Yes" "What kind of business?" "Team Rocket'' '...What' was what Sam thought

They were walking down the road to one of the gyms when Sam came upon a peculiar sight. "Whoa, hold on a moment!" He said, catching his partner's attention. "What is it?"

"You said you want to train right?" Sam asked. "So why settle for a mere gym, when you could train your Pokemon and body over there? He then pointed down the road to the right, revealing that at the end of it was a large battle facility that had a battle arena symbol with the colors of a poke ball.

Roy was intrigued, albeit slightly. "And that is?"

"That my friend is Saffrons city's new battle club!" Sam explained. He reached into his red backpack and brought out one of his books, showing him various pictures and information. "I read about it in one of my books. They're battle facilities where they offer training methods and equipment for Pokemon and trainers alike, as well as Pokemon battles."

"This is the first I've heard of them."

"Not surprising, they are usually found all the way in the Unova region, but they've been expanding their business to other locations. So what do you say, wanna give it a shot?"

Roy was silent for a few seconds until he replied. "...Alright, but it better not waste my time."

"That's the spirit!" He said as he clapped him on the shoulder. It wasn't much, but it was something. "Come on, let's go." Ava, his Espeon jumped on his shoulders, readjusted his hat, and he led the way. Roy just rolled his eyes and followed.

Meanwhile, not too far away, Ash and his friends Brock, May, and Max were walking down the road, passing through the city on their way to the Battle Dome for the Battle Frontier. "Can't believe we're back here already," Ash said as he led the way.

"Feels like it has been a short time." Brock agreed.

"Well we were just at the Battle Arena, so it's not surprising," May said.

"And the next facility, the Battle Dome, is located south of Lavender town, which isn't too far from here," Max said.

"Man, I can't wait to win my third symbol!" Ash said, pumping his fist. "Pikachu!" His partner said. But as they walked down the road, they walked past a peculiar sight. "Whoa, what's happening over there?" Ash asked.

Not too far away, many people were gathered around the Silph Co. Police officers surrounded the area, with Officer Jenny at the forefront. "All right everyone, stand back! This is a police investigation so no one is allowed to enter the building!"

"OH OFFICER JENNY!" Brock said as he sprinted over to her, grasping her hands in his. "It's an honor to see such a hard-working beautiful woman such as you! This must be fate!"

Max quickly grabbed his ear and pulled him away. "Knock it off, Romeo! Leave her to her work!"

"Uh excuse me Officer Jenny, but what exactly happened here?" May asked.

"Oh hi there kids. There was just some breach of security here. They're still searching for what may have been stolen. Right now we don't know exactly what the bad guys were looking for, so right now we're pretty blind." she said, shrugging her shoulders on the last line.

"Oh, well hope you find a lead," said May

"Yeah! Hope you get those bad guys" said Ash pumping his fist.

"Yeah, well thanks guys, We'll keep trying. And hey are you going for your next badge Ash?" Jenny asked

Ash nodded "Yup. This time I'm fully prepared and ready. This third badge will be mine!"

Jenny smiled, amused by the kid's enthusiasm "Glad to hear that. Now go get 'em guys" she said waving them away.

"Will do, see yah Officer Jenny," they said waving back.

Back with the 2 Agents.

They had finally reached the Battle club and Rory had questions "Alright, so how does this work?" he said looking around.

Sam smiled as he began to explain. "Well, you see that computer system over there?" He asked as he pointed towards a computer in the center of the room. "Well to put it simply, that's information on other trainers and their Pokemon. You can even use them to ask for battles, but you can still ask for one in person if you wanted to."

He checked the computer. "Huh, they even have a gymnasium where you can train your Pokemon with training equipment. Didn't know that...Well no point standing here doing nothing, lets get some training done!"

"Espee!" Ava agreed.

Meanwhile, back at the Silph Co. Team Rocket, who was hiding behind a building, watched with interest. "Well, I wonder what's all the fuss?"

"Looks to me that it's a crime scene," James replied.

"And where there's a scene, there's usually a crook behind them pulling strings!" Meowth said. "Takes one to know one!"

"Wobbuffet!" Wobbufet agreed, popping out from his poke-ball.

"Although that begs the question, who or what were the crooks responsible for this mess?" Jessie asked.

"Who cares who did it?!" Meowth asked. "We're the only crooks in this town, and all that matters is capturing Pikachu!"

"With that, we have no issue!" Jessie and James said in unison.

"Woooba!"

Meanwhile, Rory and Sam had walked into the battle arena's main battle room, wanting to try and see if they were any trainers to battle. "Hmm... let's see...who do you want to battle against? A lot of trainers to choose from?"

Sam looked back to Rory and he was already getting into a fight with one of the trainers. Sam made a face "Well, he got the hang of it real quick..."

Rory went on the arena and pulled out his standard if he didn't know what he was fighting

"Infernape!"

The other trainer was awestruck "WOW! I've never seen that pokemon before. Where'd you catch it!?"

"We're fighting or not?"

The trainer did not take kindly to his opponent's tone "Just trying to talk" he pulled out his poke

mon "Corphish!... Shouldn't have released your pokemon before mine!"

A grunt was Roys only response. He had expected something like this to happened and it was all fine with him. Training against pokemon that are a direct counter to his is always a good thing. However, judging from this trainers

brashness he wasn't going to get much good out of this fight.

"Corpish Water gun!"

"Dodge ape and then quick attack"

Infernape quickly dodged and covered the distance

"Wow, it's fast. Quick Harden!"

"Mach punch!"

The immovable object and the unstoppable force clashed. There was the sound of a hard thud and the Corphish was pushed back a couple of feet away. Even though

the lobster-like pokemon had used harden it still showed signs of damage by its labored breaths.

"Chase him down and close combat!"

"Damn. Corphish waterfall the floor!"

Corphish laid out an entire ocean worth of water on the floor making the fire monkey have to jump all according to plan.

The enemy trainer smiled in victory "HA! I got you now. Corphish Bubble beam!"

"Cor CORPHISH!" as the pokemon fired the beam with all his might.

Fool. "Infern Flamethrower"

"Infern APE!" he said firing off his flames with all its might.

The 2 powers clashed at first pooling into a giant ball until the

y burst into an explosion of steam.

"HA ha yeah we got you," he said pumping his fist with the Corphish mimicking his motion.

Rory smiled at his foolish behavior, but it was quickly banished as he gave one last command "Flame wheel!"

His opponent gave a confused look and then looked back at the

remaining mist where an orange dot became brighter and brighter "No, don't-" and then Infernape burst out of the mist his fire shining brightly over the arena and quickly making its way to the small crustacean.

"Crap. Bubble beam!"

It was too late as Corphish just began his beam the spinning pokemon hit him crushing it against the floor and jumping back from the powerful smash.

Infernape went back to his

owner leaving a knocked out Corphish in its wake.

"Cor-"

"Come on." Roy pushed back his sunglasses and stared down at the young trainer " Get your other

pokemon out. This is a 3v3 battle after all."

Sam watched with surprise, sweat-dropping. "Whoa, talk about brutal." He said to Ava as they saw the poor Corphish defeated easily. "Poor thing didn't even stand a chance. But he is pretty good at battles. I'll give him that."

"Espee..." Ava agreed, also sweat dropping.

"Still, isn't Infernape a Pokemon from the Sinnoh region? How the hell did he get that?" He wondered. But as he watched the kid throw out a Swellow, he was interrupted by a rude and snobby voice. "Ugh, is unattractive Espeon yours?"

Both surprised, he turned around and saw a female trainer with long blond hair, wearing a white tank top, blue shorts, white heels, and an expensive blue purse. She was scowling at him. He glared at her along with Ava. "Excuse you? Would care to repeat that?"

"What are you deaf to?" She huffed. "I asked if that unattractive Espeon was with you? Honestly, why would you have to wear that horrendous collar?" She pointed to Ava's black color with white rhinestones. "Although getting a good look at you, I wouldn't be surprised. What a horrid attire you have on!"

Ava growled while Sam glared and clenched his fists. People like her were the reason he was in Team Rocket. He had gotten Ava that collar after their first mission together, back when she was an Eevee! Oh, this girl was gonna get it good. "Horrid? Unattractive?! Well, at least we're not some pathetic stuck up spoiled blond bitch who probably doesn't even know how to take care of herself without having to hold her daddy's hand or use his credit card!"

"What did you just say?!"

"You heard me! Tell me something, are your Pokemon as attractive as you make yourself out to be, or are they just as pathetic and weak as you are blond?"

The female trainer growled, her face a blood red and her feet stomping. "How dare you!? Who do the hell do you think you are you uncouth brute?! That does it!" She brought out a Pokeball and three a Gardevoir. "Let's settle this with a battle!"

Sam smirked. "Couldn't agree more." 'Oh, you are so going down.'

They took their positions on the battlefield. "Let's go, Ava!"

"Espee!"

"Teach him respect, Gardevoir!"

"Gar!"

START

"Gardevior, take that thing down with Shadow Ball!"

Gardevoir summoned a black sphere and hurled it at Ava.

"Ava caught it with Psychic!"

Ava's eyes glowed blue as she caught the sphere mid-attack and started circling it around herself.

"What the?! That's cheating!"

"Like hell it is! Now send it back!"

"Cespe!" Ava hurled the shadow ball with incredible speed and momentum, hitting Gardevoir dead on.

"Ah, Gardevoir no!"

"Now Ava, calm mind!"

"Espeeee!" Ava's gem and her eyes glowed as she was surrounded by a bright purple light, which then flashed as her Special attack and special defense were raised.

Now let's give them a real shadow ball!"

"Espeeeon!" Ava summoned her shadow ball, larger than the previous one and hurled it towards Gardevoir, who was still feeling the effects of the shadow ball.

"Gardevoir Shadowball quick!"

"Gaaar!" Gardevoir regained her bearings and threw out another shadow ball. The two collided, but Ava's overpowered Gardevoirs, destroying it, and flew straight towards Gardevoir, hitting it dead center. "Gaaaar!"

"Gardevoir, no!"

Sam smirked. "Time to wrap this up! Ava, use Hyper Beam!"

"Espeeeoooon!" Espeon summoned an orb of orange energy, and blasted it towards Gardevoir, and blasted her hard, slamming her into the wall.

"Gardevoir!"

The smoke cleared, and Gardevoir had swirls in her eyes. The spoiled girl ran to check on her pokemon and kneeled to check on her. "Oh, no! My poor Gardevoir!" She looked as if she were about to cry, but then she felt the presence, turned around and saw Sam, with Ava on his shoulders, glaring down at her, causing her to flinch.

"Like I said. Pathetic and weak."

The girl began to stutter. She quickly pulled out her poke-ball, recalled her Gardevoir, and ran out of the room with Dust in her wake, screaming at the top of her lungs. "DADDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"

He smirked as she watched her go. He rubbed Ava's head affectionately. "Nice job, Ava!"

"Espe." She replied, rubbing his head.

"Now then..." He turned to the other trainers. "Who's next?"
