Ava Sharpe never got sick. She just didn't. Not once in fifteen years did she get sick, and she hated skipping school. Being absent meant having to make up work, missing information, and staying in bed with nothing to do. That's why when she came down with a fever of 103 during the night, coughing and being miserable, her first thought was the math quiz that she would need to miss.
At 1:30 p.m, Ava lay in bed reminding herself that third-period math would've ended at school, and how she could have gotten the quiz over with. It was when Ava raised her hand to adjust the towel on her head that she noticed the figures on her arm.
'Great. I'm hallucinating.' She thought.
Hesitating a little, Ava brought her left forearm in front of her eyes, struggling to read the words that had appeared.
Neccesary Neccessary? Neccissary
Ava squinted, then became very disappointed in herself as she tried to remember when she had to spell out such a simple word. Especially in blue ink on her arm. The fever must've been pretty bad for her to resort to these kinds of means.
She flopped her arm back onto her stomach and closed her eyes, willing for the day to go by faster if she could only take a nap. It took around a minute to register another thought.
Soulmates.
This time, Ava sat straight up, eyes wide as she watched another attempt to spell necessary appear, one letter at a time, on her arm. Failing to suppress a yelp, Ava covered her mouth and went straight to her desk, searching frantically for a pen. Sitting back on her bed, pen in hand, Ava stared. Her first interaction with her soulmate.
Should she start with Hi? Hello? Good afternoon soulmate? Ava's mind raced as she thought of what her first words to her soulmate would be. Watching yet another horrifying attempt to spell, she realized first things first. She brought her pen to her arm and wrote in her best handwriting possible.
I think it's 'necessary'
