Blitzo was sitting in his office, fiddling with one of the many toy horses he had collected. He was expecting an undoubtedly lewd call from Stolas in regards to the grimoire, and was not looking forward to it. He shifted his position in his chair, knocking over a cup of now cold coffee and spilling the contents onto his pants. Cursing loudly, he replaced the cup, and then decided to go to the coffee maker to make a fresh cup.
Loona was at her desk in the waiting room. The hellhound woman was wishing she was anywhere but there, reading a magazine and generally trying to ignore Moxxie who was lecturing her once again about responsibility or some such. Millie was sitting on the couch, Loona wasn't sure what she was doing, she couldn't care less. None of them noticed the door open, or the three armed demon in a hooded cloak enter.
"Is this the office of I.M.P. ?" he asked, his voice cold and sinster. "Oh! A new client!" Millie said excitedly, jumping up from the couch. The demon looked at her. "I'll take that as a yes." He said coldly. He pulled the hood off his head, revealing a slightly elongated skull, pure green eyes, and a mouth full of sharp teeth, from which drool dripped. "Tell your boss, I am here for his grimoire."
Everyone looked at him in surprise. How did he know about that? It was supposed to be a secret. Moxxie and Millie stepped forward. "Who are you and how the FUCK do you know about that book?" Millie demanded, brandishing a maul. The demon sneered. "You don't need to know my name. Just hand over the grimoire, or things will get… messy" He dropped the cloak, revealing a chitinous body, his third arm was growing out of the right side of his chest, and he had a long, thick tail with a point on the end, similar to an imps tail. Millie spoke up again. "I sure as hell will not! That book is-" The demon cut her off, grabbing her by the neck in a blur faster than any of them had seen a sinner demon move before. "Property of Stolas of Ars Goetia, I know. Has it been so long, that your kind has forgotten about the cults on Earth? The humans who worship your kind?" He threw Millie across the room, and she collided with the printer. "Millie!" Moxxie cried out, grabbing the handgun in his waistcoat. He shot three times at the demon, but was swatted aside, slamming into the wall, and crumpling to the floor. The demon picked up Moxxies gun, and aimed at Loona who was already leaping over her desk, knocking the monitor aside. He fired at Loona.
Blitzo sat up in his seat. The commotion could be heard in his office. He grabbed a flintlock, and heard a sound he never wanted to hear: a gunshot, followed by Loona yelping in pain. Someone had hurt his daughter, and that someone was going to pay dearly. He threw the door open, and stopped in his tracks before he could raise his flintlock. The mysterious demon was holding Loona up by her hair. Loona was trying desperately to break free. Black blood was dripping from her muzzle, her right knee had been shot, blood oozing from the injury. The demon had Moxxies handgun up to her head. "Now, Blitzo, there's no need for any further violence. Put the gun down, and let's talk."
"You release my Loonie right FUCKING now, and I'll concider not putting a bullet in your head, you freak!" Blitzo demanded furiously, baring his teeth in rage.
The demon looked at Loona, and then said "so protective, what is she to you, your pet?" Loona managed to force out an angry snarl, only to be rewarded with a punch to the kidneys, which caused a yelp. "No, maybe, is she your daughter, Blitzo?" Blitzo couldn't respond. "I'll cut you a deal, Blitzo. You turn over the grimoire to me, and I'll refrain from doing a little, redecorating, with your daughter." He finished the sentence disturbingly close to Loonas ear, causing her to whimper in fear. "Blitz… don't do it…" Loona whimpered. Blitzo ignored her. "You'll spare her?" he asked. "Yes, I'll let her go as soon as I have the grimoire." Blitzo didn't hesitate. He retrieved the book and reentered the waiting room.
"Place it on the ground, and slide it over to me" the cultist demon instructed. Blitzo did so, and soon Loona was shoved right at him. He caught her, and she cried out as she accidentally put pressure on her injured leg. Blitzo looked up from Loona and saw that the cultist demon was gone. "Fucking shit." Blitzo cursed. He looked at Loona, who looked angry, with tears streaming down her face. He hugged her, ignoring her biting at him.
Blitzo made Loona lay down on the couch, and managed to bandage her knee (amid much cursing from Loona) before he checked on Moxxie and Millie. He wanted to go after the cultist demon, but knew he was long gone, by now. Next came what he was dreading the most all day; a phone call with Stolas, only now he was dreading it even more. He knew Stolas would be angry, and at this moment Stolas lewd comments would be much preferable to the rage he knew was coming. Maybe he could load everyone into the van, and skip town? No, that wouldn't work. Stolas would have no trouble tracking him down, and that would just make things worse in the long run.
"You lost my grimoire? You realize that I need it today, Blitzo." Stolas said over the phone. The imp butler holding the phone was quivering in fear. "It was entrusted to me, and I, illegally might I add, entrusted it to you." Blitzo flinched, not just at the cold anger he could feel over the phone, but that the old version of his name was used in such a manner. "Well, you see, he was threatening my Loonie! I had no choice!" Blitzo answered quickly, fidgeting nervously.
"I'm coming over, expect me soon" Stolas coldly purred, the flirtatious intonations gone, replaced by a quiet rage. The line went dead. Millie was already up and moving again, checking on Moxxie, who groaned. "Moxxie, wake up!" Millie cried out. Moxxie managed to open his eyes, and groaned in pain as he managed to sit up. "Millie, are you alright?" He croaked.
"Yes hon, I'm okay. I've had worse, just a headache. Are you alright?"
"I'll be fine."
The door opened, and Stolas entered. The tall owl demon strode forward, a look of anger in his face, four eyes in a glare. "Blitzo, we need to leave right now, before any damage can be done with my grimoire." He said. His voice was calm, but it was clear that he was anything but. "Yeah, I know, Stolas. I just need to get some things." He looked over at Moxxie, Millie, and Loona. It pained him that he had to leave Loona behind in her state, where he couldn't dote upon her, but he knew she'd be safer here than near the cultists who had harmed her. Moxxie couldn't be brought along, he was in no condition to fight, and when he recovered, someone would need to watch over Loona, even if neither of them liked the prospect whatsoever. Millie wasn't going to like what he said next in the slightest. "I'm sorry, Mils, but Moxxie is going to have to stay behind while you come with us."
"WHAT?!" Millie shouted "Boss, I need to take care of Moxxie! He's hurt!"
"He'll be fine, Millie. Besides, someone needs to take care of my Loonie while we're gone. Shouldn't be gone for long, anyway." Blitzo answered quickly, grabbing an extra flintlock, some shot and powder for it, and his Mare-Ajuana horse mini that he stuffed in his trenchcoat. Moxxie and Loona both protested against being stuck together for the better part of the day, but Blitzo shot them down. Millie begrudgingly agreed. Stolas looked impatient as Blitzo and Millie got the things they'd need, including the crude disguises they'd need in the human world if they had to follow the cultist demon there, which is where they were sure he went.
"Moxxie, take care of Loona for me." Blitzo instructed. "We'll be back soon, Moxxie!" Millie added, as the two of them followed Stolas out the door. Loona and Moxxie didn't have any idea how drastically things were going to change, how their situation was about to go completely sideways.
