Rebecca walked along the hallway to her bedroom and she hummed. She could not wait to see all the photos and videos she had made from their last stopover. She was sure she would have thousands of views. She walked past Shiki's door which was ajar and she saw the light from the very thin opening under the bedroom door. Rebecca did not pay attention until she heard a noise coming from the bedroom. She stopped walking and frowned, wondering if she had not imagined anything. Another noise came from the bedroom. This time she was not wrong. It was sob. She approached, worried. She opened the door a little more and saw Shiki sitting at the foot of his bed, his arms wrapped around his knees.

'Shiki,' Rebecca whispered.

She put her hand in front of her mouth, she had spoken without thinking. She did not want to be inquisitive. Shiki looked up at her. Rebecca's heart broke. Tears were running down his cheeks and he looked so sad. She had never seen him like that. He quickly wiped away his tears.

'Rebecca, is something wrong ?'

Rebecca entered. Despite his sadness, he always worried about her.

'No, I'm fine. And you, do you want to talk about something ?'

Rebecca sat down next to him and Shiki snorted loudly.

'It's just… I was thinking about my grandpa.'

Rebecca looked down. She should have known. She felt selfish that she had not thought about how Shiki might feel since he had seen Ziggy again. She remembered the joy on Shiki's face when he saw his grandfather who he thought was dead, and the sadness and the lack of understanding at how much he had changed. He was no longer the grandfather he had known. And since that day, Shiki had done everything to show he was okay. He did not want to worry anyone.

Rebecca vowed to pay more attention to what he was feeling and that she would be there for him. She put her arms around him and hug him tenderly. Shiki opened his eyes wide.

'Rebecca ?'

'It's gonna be okay Shiki. I'm here. That's what friends do.'

Shiki smiled and nodded. He put his arms around her waist and hid his face in the crook of her neck. He took a deep breath, enjoying the warmth and comfort that Rebecca was giving him.
