Happy Birthday Leela! I hope you enjoy this chapter! Consider this a birthday gift from your best friend! I hope you have/had an amazing birthday. I am currently writing this on your birthday, so it'll probably be published a little bit after your birthday! So I'm sorry if it's a little late XD

And it's almost summer vacation for me! I'm so excited! Which also means, until my surgery! I can't wait! I've had pain for nine years, and after the surgery the pain will decrease dramatically! I'm so excited I can hardly wait! I've been waiting since 2019 (I think?) To get this surgery. I've been waiting a long time I can't wait to not feel in as much pain anymore. I'm so excited!

So anyway! On with the story!

TRIGGER WARNING!: Mentions of suicide, alcohol, abuse and child neglect. But just for about one or two paragraphs.

What was going on? Was sparkle in a black void or something?

"Hello...?" She called out. "Is there anybody there...?"

No response.

Sparkle looked around, in this dream state she could walk. She looked around to see nothing but black, the void that she was placed in felt endless, like she couldn't escape even if she wanted to. She heard voices calling her, probably from the outside world trying everything they could to get her to come back to them. But she couldn't respond, because the voices were too far away.

She sunk down to the ground, crying. She couldn't hear anyone, she tried so desperately to call out to someone but they wouldn't be able to hear her. Brain and pinky must be so worried about her, and the worst part was she couldn't tell them she would be okay. "Someone please help! Let me out of here! "She cried out, but again, nobody responded.

She then felt someone light place a hand on her shoulder, she looked up, meeting the random person's gaze.

"Grandpa! "She cried out, hugging him. Her grandpa looked at her, smiling. "My granddaughter! Oh how I've missed you!" She giggled, nosing his nose with her own.

"Why Are you here my dear?"

"I-I don't know grandpas... But I need to get back to my friends, I just don't know how." She began to cry.

Her grandfather held her close, hugging her gently. "Shh," he hushed. " I know you can do this, sparkle... I didn't dub you The Princess Of The Believers for nothing. I know you can do this, just remember those you hold close. They need you, and you need them. "He said slowly beginning to fade. She gave him one last hug before the void turns back to the emptiness she was surrounded with.

"Please.. someone help me... I wanna go home!"

Back in the real world.

Today Leela was turning 13, but it wouldn't be a perfect celebration without her best friend... Rob, Jess, Tress and Maurice were there but it didn't feel right.

"Happy birthday Leela, welcome to the teenage club." Maurice joked, trying to lighten the mood, which wasn't handed off well as the now teenager, and the non-teenagers scowled. "Not helping." Tress said through gritted teeth. Rob trying ever so carefully to not get his girlfriend riled up, especially after the last time. "Tress, honey, let's dial it back a bit, okay? I know what Maurice did wasn't helpful, but he was trying to lighten the mood."

The teenager looked down, tears dripping onto the floor. "I'm sorry." He sniffed, Rob wrapped his arms around him. "It's not your fault, I know, what sparkle's going through is hard on all of us. But, I heard some news from Donnie Not long ago, like 30 minutes ago. He said, that she was having more coherent conversations in her sleep. She had a conversation to her grandpa, so I think she's getting better, whatever that poison or knockout gas was, it seems to be wearing off, slowly, but I think it's wearing off."

Jess cleared his throat. "Well, I hate to leave you guys, but I have band practice. I've ditched em for almost 2 weeks because of theatre rehearsals and now with sparkle in the state she is in. I Kinda let my bandmates down."

Rob forced a smile on. "No, go ahead Jess, we'll be fine here."

Jess looked concerned. "Are you guys sure? I mean, if you guys want me to stay, I can. I'm sure my bandmates will understand..."

Rob shook his head, The forced smile still there. "No no it's okay really, go have fun with your bandmates! We'll be fine."

Jess sighed heavily. " okay, but if anything happens, and I mean, ANYTHING, you call me straight away, got it?"

Rob nodded. "We will. "He promised.

Leela was off to the side, trying not to shed tears. Today was her birthday, and her best friend, her best friend in the whole world wasn't here to celebrate with her. She walked into her hospital room, sitting in the chair she had done many times before, placing her hand on her best friend's. "Sparkle... whoever did this to you, I'm gonna make sure they pay a little visit to me. I'm sorry you can't celebrate my birthday with us, but I promise when you're better, we'll have the best birthday party for me ever. We'll watch Hamilton, in the Heights, and 21 chump street. I just want to see Hamilton with you."

Leela sighed and started to sing to her.

"Dear Theodosia, what to say to you?

You have my eyes, you have your mother's name

When you came into the world, you cried

And it broke my heart

I'm dedicating every day to you

Domestic life was never quite my style

When you smile, you knock me out, I fall apart

And I thought I was so smart

You will come of age with our young nation

We'll bleed and fight for you

We'll make it right for you

If we lay a strong enough foundation

We'll pass it on to you, we'll give the world to you

And you'll blow us all away

Someday, someday

Yeah, you'll blow us all away

Someday, someday..."

Leela only just managed to get through the first verse of the song without crying, she was crying loudly now, worried for her best friend and how she would overcome this. She squeezed her hand, sobbing, as tears rolled down her cheeks and onto her brand-new party dress that her lovely parents had gotten her for her birthday.

The door creaked open revealing the oldest Warner sibling. "Lee?" He asked, walking over to the hospital bed caressing sparkle's Head gently on the way over to the extra chair.

"Yakko i'm worried about her... It's been nearly a week now, and sparkle hasn't woken up yet. I know Donatello said she was improving, but, do you think she'll wake up?"

Yakko smiled. " I don't think, I know she'll wake up! "She's a strong girl Leela." He said knowingly.

"Okay." She said simply.

Brain smiled at his human owner. "We love you... "He whispers.

Pinky kisses the top of her nose, careful of the tube inserted. "Yes, we do love you...Narf!" He said, saying his usual catchphrase in its usual enthusiastic manner anything to get her to smile. Brain could've sworn he saw a ghost of a smile creep on her lips. "She's smiling again... Pinky, you're a genius!" Brain exclaimed. Hugging him and sneaking a kiss on his cheek. Pinky blushed, shedding a tear, which his partner wiped for him.

She tried to moan, anything to convey that she was here. Pinky squeezed her finger, climbing up to kiss her cheek. "We're here my sunshine." Pinky said softly, squeezing her finger again. Brain scampered over to her, kissing her cheek. "We are here for you, all of us."

Brain heard her cry trying to form a sentence or at least two words of a sentence. "I'm s-s-s-s-s—orry..."

Brain could've collapsed right then and there, his heart finally broke. Hearing his baby girl say 'I'm sorry' as she was struggling to breathe, and possibly dying, broke his heart. His heart in which he thought he never had, he thought he never had a heart, until she showed up.

Brain Full on bawled his eyes out. Failing miserably to actually form a sentence that was audible. Brain wept, and wept, and wept. Pinky was pretty sure he was going to flood the bed with his tears.

"Brain Love, breathe..." pinky whispered. Kissing the top of his head. Brain took a deep breath, looking in to Pinky's ocean blue eyes. "That's it... Look at me, focus on me... She's going to be alright okay? Why don't you tell her a story? I think she'd like that. "Pinky murmured. Brain nodded, squeezing his partner's paw, getting her favourite book and proceeding to read to her. The megalomaniac had read the book a thousand times to her, but he loved reading it to her. He read the book like any narrator would, doing silly and funny voices for each of the characters. He held her hand when it got to a scary part or sad part, as had she been awake she would be crying or getting scared at some of the parts. Brain read quietly, The odd doctor or nurse coming in to check on her, accompanied by pinky's growling as they touched her, knowing that if she was awake she would be on sensory overload right about now.

Hours later, and the book was finished. Rob and Tress had resided themselves to the chairs, listening to the megalomaniac mouse read, as they'd came in the room halfway through the book.

Rob turned to pinky. "We heard him break down. "He whispers. Brain's breakdown for about an hour had really caught everyone off guard. Pinky patted his hand. "Thank you for your concern Rob, but he'll be okay... He gets like this when the ones he loves are in danger, he's felt that way about me sometimes. But, getting taken away from your family so young is really traumatising, years later and he's still not over it, poor thing. "

"He means a lot to you then, huh?" Rob asks already knowing the answer.

"He means the world to me... I have kept him sane for nearly his whole life. If it wasn't for me, God knows where he'd be. Probably a suicidal mess, drinking alcohol at a bar."

Rob and Tress hissed at the mention of the megalomaniac being suicidal and drinking in a bar. "Geez Louise... really?"

Pinky just simply nodded.

"Oh yeah. After our show got cancelled in 1998, Brain didn't take it well. At the time, we were living with an abusive child, Elmyra," The two of them gasp. "THAT Elmyra?!" Tress asks in horror. "Yep, that's the one." Pinky shuddered at the name.

" The Animaniacs crew, basically filmed our day-to-day life with Elmyra, catching everything. From the abuse, the neglect, and so much more. I honestly think that that child was neglected herself. Her parents never appeared anywhere, I mean there was an occasional babysitter that gave stupid explanations as to where her parents were, luckily and thankfully, Elmyra was dumb enough to believe that. Coming from a dumb idiot myself , that's saying something."

"Oh my God!" Tress exclaims quietly. "I'm so sorry! I had no idea! I mean, Daisy duck, one of my closest friends has had her fair share of scenes, but nothing, and I mean nothing could compare to what you guys have gone through. How are you still even here for the reboot? How? I do not understand how you guys even wanted to do the reboot again."

"The fans." Pinky simply replied.

Back in her head.

The void was becoming clearer, she could see a little bit of light. She could just about here the sound of pinky's Voice, she wasn't sure what he was talking about exactly, but she knew that cockney accent anywhere. She could see the light she was running, running to get closer to the lights, she was almost there. She could just about touch it with her hand, she reached and reached, grabbing onto the light.

The light finally hit her.

She was free. Free from whatever she has gone through.

Back in the real world.

Her eyes shot open, she gasped. " i'm free..." she whispered. Everyone turned around, gasping tears running down their cheeks. She looked around to see her parents rushing over and give her a hug. "Sparkle! "They exclaim. Pure tears of joy running down their face. They kissed her everywhere, her head, her cheeks, her nose, everywhere. They smiled big and happy, running to get the nurses and doctors. Brain shot up, running over and nearly tripping.

"SPARKLE! MY BABY!" Brain exclaimed not caring about the weird looks he was getting. He ran into her, climbing up to her face and kissing everywhere, just like her parents had done. "My baby girl... my beautiful, beautiful baby girl... I thought I would never see you again... Pinky and I were so worried! We couldn't do anything to help you.."

"I'm Home..." she whispers on the verge of tears.

"Yes... you're home with us, where you belong... You're safe now, my love." Brain whispers, pinky ran ver. "It's a miracle! It's an absolute miracle! My sunshine, our sunshine... "Pinky kissed her nose. "We're whole again." Pinky whispered.

Rob almost ran out of the room, his girlfriend following suit.

Rob got his phone and dialled Jess. "Hello?-

"JESS. GET. OVER. HERE. NOW!" Rob shouted. " she JUST woke up!"

Jess almost dropped his phone, Rob could hear the excitement exchange between his best friend and his bandmates. He heard them jump up and down excitedly, before Jess put his phone up to his ear and spoke again.

"I'm on my way." He said excitedly. Rob quickly replied, and then the member of the band excitedly hung up the phone.

When Jess finally arrived at the hospital, he raced to her hospital room. He knocked on the door, seeing there were some doctors and nurses in. 10 minutes later he was allowed in. Sparkles stared at him, another round of tears rolling down her cheeks. "Jess…" she said happily. Jess walked over pulling her into a hug.

Leela captured the whole moment on her phone, treasuring it forever. She'd been just as emotional, hugging her best friend and promising her that they would listen to Hamilton when she felt up to it. Sparkle smiled warmly and promised Leela to get her the best present she could buy. But the now teenager explained that she didn't need any birthday presents. She got her best friend back, and to her, that was enough.

There's nothing better than a gift of a friend.
