A/N I've had a few messages asking if I'm OK and going to continue writing. Don't worry I am, just been a bit busy. Next weekend I'll start catching up again. In the meantime I hope you'll enjoy this story I wrote a while ago. To be honest I thought I'd lost it- turns out I'd just saved it in a weird place XD
Now that she had passed they'd had been given permission to take Megan's stuff to the Garage by Whitehull.
Sean and Cabe helped Slyvester pack it all into Cabes SUV.
They weren't exspecting Walter to help. He was quite incapable at the moment. Sean had thought at first Walter had been heartless when he responded to Megan's death with "Oh Ok" but when they tried to take her away he'd had a Meltdown the likes of which nobody had seen before and had to be sedated. Sean had also found it weird when the nurse stroked Walter's hair (as he relaxed under the influence of the drugs) and said so only to find out how deeply his son, who he thought was incapable of love had cared for his sister and how over time the staff regarded his children as family.
Walter and Megan had still been children when they'd come to America. Louise and Sean were shocked when Homeland had offered them a great sum of money for Walter to immigrate to Washington by the Homeland offices to work for the American government, especially after he'd been arrested for hacking into NASA. They'd turned it down of course- he may have been odd but they didn't want to loose him. he was still their son. Still a child.
Then Megan got sick- really sick. Sean was ashamed to have thought that Walter had used his Sister as a excuse to get away. But Homeland were willing to pay for Megan to immigrate as well so she could recieve a level of care she couldn't get in Ireland. Sean and Louise felt devestated but they knew they had very little options. The last infection had nearly killed her.
Walter had made it clear to the man in the black suit (Agent Gallo he later learned) that if he went he'd be going to Los Angeles. Sean had thought it was his young son's attempt to 'live the high life'. Sean wasn't exspecting Gallo to agree to Walter's terms but agree he did.
The next day was the last time Sean and Louise had seen their children physically in 15 years.
Whitehull hospital was the best place in America to care for Megan. She'd been under their care since she'd arrived under the watchful eye of her brother. The staff had seen both siblings at their best and worst. Sean and Louise were teary when the nurse recalled the first time she'd met the young pair- Walter had been stroking his tired sister's hair while he'd spouted off facts and figures to her reassuring her that there was no better place for her care, and the amount of times a government agent would carry the boy out of her room. Having been watching over her so long that his body had given into exhaustion.
Sean was unsurprised when he'd learnt of his son pushing the doctors to explore his research over the years- and everyone was suprised to hear that Walter was a Doctor himself- having studied hard to earn the right to be more involved in his sisters care then a average family member. Staff had taken much of Walter's research on board and had implemented it, which in turn had lengthened Megan's lifespan by about 7 years. He'd also given over millions of pounds for her care and to ensure her comfort on top of the money their insurance allowed when he reached adulthood. The medical staff all liked and respected Walter, he'd treated the staff with respect and showered them with praise when Megan was responding well. He'd been there for every meeting, every appointment, and did his best to make his sister smile- even if doing so put him at risk of embarrassing himself. He just wasn't so great with his own care.
Louise cried big ugly tears when she'd learnt of Walter's history since leaving the government after a temporary falling out with them. Toby had told them of his early history of cutting to get through the days when he'd sold his body to make up the additional money Megan had needed for her care, as he'd been unable to get a proper job dispite his qualifications because of his young age. How he'd been easily manipulated by a man he'd thought was a friend into loosing himself in his own head to the point of almost starvation because he'd been too exhausted physically and mentally to fight it, and how he'd developed more and more dangerous coping mechanisms to distract him from his grief when he'd become emotional. Paige had been unable to look Louise in the eye as Toby recounted the day they'd discovered Walter had driven off a cliff at 190mph when she'd left the team.
While he was unable to fight them off Happy removed his car keys and wallet from his pockets- giving them to Slyvester to keep hidden until they felt safe for them to be returned to him. Slyvester disagreed it'd do much good though "he'd just charm another rich client into giving him a fancy car" he complained. Sean scoffed "Walter charming?" Toby grinned "he can be very charming when he puts the effort in- he'd charm this one out of her pants if he fancied" he laughed looking pointedly at Paige, who developed a sudden coughing fit. Slyvester rolled his eyes "The first was a Ferrari F60 off billionaire Richard Elia in a attempt to poach Walter which he wrote off" he began "hes had a few more since, which he'd sold to put more money into Megan's care, but his current one is a customised Pangani Zonda HP Barchetta. It's only got two seats though, hence the company van. I'm quite sure the Client he got the Pangani from, Selena, wants to sleep with him but Walter isn't good with those kind of signals" he finished blushing. "You're telling me" paige whispered to herself.
While Sean, Cabe and Sly were distracted packing everything up Toby saw an opportunity to embarrass Paige that he couldn't resist. "I'm making a decision as the team Doctor to sign Walter off of Sick temporarily and I need you to distract him-get him out of his head a bit." Paige agreed it was a good idea but- "What did you have in mind? I'm no good with science stuff." Toby gave her a saucy grin "I'm sure you'll be good with this science stuff. It's simple biology- distract him using your vagina...and if you're up to the task your mouth" Happy let out a rare laugh as Louise covered her ears humming loudly and Paige blushed profusely.
Toby noted with a grin that she didn't reject the idea of bedding her boss.
The team and Walter's parents were in the Garage gathered round the projector (most of them with drink in hand) sharing their favourite memories of Megan. Slyvester had already shared Megan's personal message to Walter but in packing up her stuff he'd discovered a few videos from her and Walter's childhood and teenage years that Sean expressed a interest in viewing. He and Louise had missed out on so much of their children's lives and he was certain Louise would want to see them also. Walter had began to protest until Paige sat on his lap, the feeling of her and her scent overwhelming his senses silencing him.
It didn't stop him grimacing when he recognised the first video though.
"This is Walt and the Broken Bones- Walter O'Brien everyone!" A man onscreen announced. Louise smiled and bobbed along to Walter's own song 'Pay attention Lord'. She was thrilled that in some way that his love of science hadn't drowned out his other talents. As tv Walter growled out some of the lyrics Happy nudged Paige "gotta admit that bit turned me on a little." she whispered to Paige who responded in agreement. Far from being upset with Happy's comment Toby laughed at the frightened look Walter gave Happy. "Looks like our dear ol' Walt has some sexy bones in his body after all" he laughed. In the next video Megan played violin with Walter's band as a very tipsy Walter belted out the lyrics to the Verve's Bittersweet Symphony while awkwadly waving his arms holding onto his vodka and lemon. Happy and Paige fistbumped as they announced they were now his 'Groupies for life' leaving Toby howling with laughter as Walter stared terrified at Happy while becoming slightly aroused at the way Paige had been wiggling on his lap.
Many other videos featured Megan and Walter at the beach- a place that they'd frequented often when Megan was able, as well as a few weekend breaks. Walter strumming his guitar while singing "Hometown Glory" to Megan who was filming from her hospital bed. Megan proudly shouting out praise to her young brother from various audiences as he recieved different qualifications and awards. Megan squealing with excitement as Walter drove them to a show she wanted to see speeding through the streets in his first car. News clips Megan had recorded of her brother before and after starting scorpion, The list went on. Louise and Sean stared glassy eyed at the projector screen as their children grew up in front of them. Everyone (except a embarrassed Walter) laughed as they watched a video from Megan's 16th birthday where Walter entered the room awkwardly singing Happy birthday to her (at Megan's insistance) only to trip over one of Megan's medical leads and land face first in the cake.
Walter was relieved when (mostly) everyone left. Paige for some reason was still there, but she very often stayed late catching up with paperwork when Ralph was away for the night so he didn't find it too odd. He was still annoyed to find his wallet and keys had been confiscated by the team but apart from grumbling about it he let it go resigned (and somewhat relieved) when he found that it was Slyvester that had been left in charge of them (instead of Toby like he feared). He understood their need for caution after all.
Walter was working at one of the blackboards allowing the effects of the rabbit hole to tease him into entering when he felt the pressure of something slightly wet but warm on his neck. Still floaty and cloudy from the beginning effects of the rabbit hole he didn't quite register what was happening apart from the fact it felt soo good. Moving his head to the side he moaned as the feeling continued and increased in pleasure. His Olfactory senses picked up the scent of Lavender and Vanilla with a hint of cinnamon and he finally realised what was happening.
Pulling himself away his eyes now no longer glazed but instead black with desire he turned round to admire the woman that was making him feel so good. Standing there wearing nothing but one of his shirts and a sexy smile was his liason. He'd never been so turned on in his life! Walter growled as he pulled his naughty employee back towards him.
Paige wasn't able to walk straight by the time he'd finished with her.
Cabe had picked up Sean and Louise from their hotel on his way to the Garage. "I'm passing by that way anyway" he'd said as he offered. They'd arrived just before Happy pulled up with Toby and Sly. Louise insisted on pulling them in for big hugs before the entered the Garage. Toby grinned as he realised Paige's Car hadn't left the night before.
Toby was disappointed when he saw Paige and Walter were bright eyed and bushy tailed discussing something over a whiteboard. How could he tease the pair if they were doing something so mundane?... 'Hang on a minute!' He suddenly thought to himself 'Paige isnt a genius-why is she contributing to the whiteboard?' In fact she appeared to be doing most of the writing!
Toby marched towards them determind to solve this mystery, but Louise got there first pulling her son and Paige into seperate hugs. A shocked look overcome her as she looked over the board in curiousity and squeeled pulling Walter and Paige into a big hug. Now Toby was even more confused. What was going on?
Looking over the whiteboard Toby couldnt decide if he was going crazy or not. Just yesterday Paige and Walter had been 'friends and coworkers- that wanted to be more than', now today hes staring at what looked like the most 'Walter-like' plan for their new desired situation but hed watched Paige fill it in! He looked towards Paige in askance, who grinned and snuggled into Walter's arms. "We decided why wait? Walter is practically Ralph's Step Dad anyway" Toby was shocked beyond belief 'It had only been one night.' He thought to himself. Before Sly spoke shocked "Hang on a minute is that an engagement ring??"
