September

Lily walked around the school, her wand lit up. She still couldn't believe that Potter was the Gryffindor Head Boy. Potter was an idiot and how Professor Dumbledore and McGonagall could choose him! So many other people were better than him.

For example, Remus Lupin.

Even though Remus had failed at being a Prefect he was still a better choice than Potter. Anyone was a better choice than Potter. Except perhaps Black. Lily shivered to think about what the school would be like if Black was Head Boy. She shook her head and went into the Library. She sat down and pulled out her Charms book. Even though she was good at the subject, there was no harm in studying more. She turned to page 63, chewing on the end of her quill.

She suddenly felt a presence behind her. Lily stiffened and turned around, gripping her wand tightly. She relaxed but turned up her nose. Potter was right behind her. She waited for Potter to notice her but he didn't, instead, he was talking quietly with a first year. She looked at them curiously. Then Lily's jaw dropped.

Potter was helping the first year with homework. Lily gasped and quickly covered her mouth. Potter turned towards her and acknowledged her presence, he then continued helping the first year. Lily furrowed her eyebrows. Did Potter just wave her off? She would have thought that after 6 years of asking her out, she would have been blessed with relief. But she wasn't. She had felt something else. Something a lot like jealousy. She shook her head, she couldn't fancy James, could she? Lily gasped for the second time that day, did she just call him James? No, no, no! This couldn't be happening! Lily ran her fingers through her dark red hair and got up.

October

Lily put her head in her hands. All she could think about was James. He hadn't asked her out at all yet, and she was getting annoyed of it. She couldn't pay attention to Binns, her head just full of Potter. She opened her Potions book and started reading for her next class. She just needed to focus on something else and all thoughts about Jame-POTTER would go away.

After class was over, Lily started walking to Slughorn's Office. In her opinion, it was more of a water closet, but who was she to judge. She turned the corner and saw Black, James, and Remus walking to Potions as well. She was on good terms with Remus, both of them had become friends in their 3rd year. Black was laughing quietly at something James had said, James was talking about his broom and how he had gotten it stuck at the top of his manor. She snorted in disgust, only Potter would manage to get a broomstick stuck on his house.

Her snort had attracted some attention though. James had turned and looked at her, his messy hair falling on his eyes and his hazel eyes filled with laughter. Lily looked away and blushed. She closed her eyes tightly, she was acting like a silly school girl! She looked back only to find out that James had gone back to his conversation with Remus and Black. Lily rushed to the classroom and went to her seat.

Slughorn came into the classroom and said,

"Today we shall be brewing Amortentia, also know as Love Potions. We shall be working in pairs and no Mr Black, you can not work with Mr Potter!" For Black had stood up and started to walk to James. Lily rolled her eyes and listened as Slughorn called out the names.

"Black and Snape." Severus and Black glared at each other. What was Slughorn even thinking? They were going to kill each other in the next 5 minutes!

"Pettigrew and Lupin." Remus and Peter looked horrified and Lily winced in sympathy. Remus already blew up any potion he worked on, he didn't need Peter's help to do it faster.

"Evans and Potter." Lily gulped and looked at Potter. Of course, she would get paired with Potter of all people. Ugh, stupid Slughorn.

James came towards her and they started working on their potion.

"What's up, Evans?" Lily gave him a nasty look and James recoiled.

"Shut up Potter and follow the recipe," Lily said curtly, turning her back and working on her part of the project.

Neither of them said another word.

December

Lily shivered as she went outside. She was going to the December Quidditch Match, Gryffindor versus Slytherin. The only problem was that before she went outside, Peeves had poured a bucket of water over her head and now she was freezing. She couldn't go back, as the game was about to start, but all the same, Lily was still pretty cold.

She wrapped her jumper tighter around her and she fluffed up her dark red hair, little pieces of snow falling out of it. She walked quickly over to the stands and sat by her best friends, Alice Hardcastle and Marlene McKinnon. They were both purebloods, but they still liked Lily all the same. She smiled and sat by them, the game started and she watched Potter and the Ravenclaw captain shake hands. Lily looked around, Black was holding a Beaters bat and James was holding the Quaffle. James threw it to some Gryffindor 6ht year and he caught it, throwing it into the hoop. Lily really didn't know much about Quidditch, but she knew that was good.

So she cheered. She caught James' eye and he smirked and waved. Lily, who was too far gone to care, waved back and smiled. She looked at the stands and laughed as she saw Remus was the commenter this time.

"And Thomas gets it in the Hoop! 10 points to Gryffindor! Hey, wait, Belby smashes into James! That's not fair! Fowl!" Lily snapped her head back to the game and indeed, Belby just crashed into James. James hung by his arm on his broomstick and tried heaved himself up. Lily shook, and it wasn't just from the cold. She bit her lip in worry and turned her head back to Remus.

"No, bloody banshee! You can't do that! That's illegal you bloody da-." Lily winced, she had right mind about what Remus was about to say.

"Mr Lupin! Mind your language!"

"But Professor! Belby could have killed James! And there he is right now! Cheering! Stupid old so-" Lily rolled her eyes as McGonagall shouted yet again,

"Mr Lupin!"

"Fine! Belby crashes into James and gets no fowl, that's perfectly legal, anyways..." Lily paid him no attention and continued to watch the game.

After about 30 minutes, the game was over. Gryffindor had won and Lily was exhausted by all the cheering. She got up and shivered, she had just noticed that she was freezing. She started walking to the castle but stopped. Someone had put their hand on her shoulder. She turned around slowly, far too cold to do anything else. She then came face to face with James Potter. She snorted and yanked her arm out of his grasp and kept walking.

"Wait! Evans! Stop!" Lily stopped on impulse and turned around, her dark hair flying.

"What is it, Potter?" She growled out, wanting nothing more than to go up to her dorm and put her feet up by the fire. He took off his anorak and gave it to Lily. She took it confused and James rolled his eyes. He then took the sweater and wrapped it around her shoulders.

Lily blinked twice and was about to say thank you when James disappeared into the snow, the storm starting to rain down on her.

January

Lily was on the train, looking out the window, about to return to Hogwarts for the rest of the year. She sighed and smiled, Petunia had brought home her boyfriend, Vernon Dursley. She personally didn't like Vernon, but if Petunia was happy, then she was. Her smile dropped when the door of her compartment opened ant 3 nasty mean Slytherins walked through the door. She gulped, all of them were armed with wands and probably knew more spells than she did. She grabbed her wand and pointed it at them.

"Expelliarmus!" One of the Slytherins shouted, Lily's wand jumping out of her hand and on the floor. She gulped again and backed away slowly, quickly sliding up against the train wall. They started towards her. The other Slytherin tied up her hands and pointed his wand at her. Lily's eyes wide in fear and she jerked, trying to get free.

Then the door banged open and James was standing there. He shouted,

"Expelliarmus!" The Slytherins were now disarmed and Lily was no longer at their mercy. James untied her. She gasped in relief, her hands felt so free after being tied for so long. She grinned at James and without a second thought,

She hugged him. It wasn't one of those hugs you give to your parents, but an actual meaningful hug.

Lily backed away and blushed, hiding her face with her long red hair, her green eyes filled with joy. James laughed and hugged her, telling her that he'll be back soon. But before he could go, Lily reached out and planted a small kiss on his cheek. She waved to him and closed the door behind him, grinning.

One thing was for sure, the next time James asked her out, she would accept.

February

Lily chuckled, it was now Valentines Day and she had gotten many anonymous Valentines from many different people. But she was missing something, James still hadn't given his annual gift to her, asking her out. She sighed sadly and walked out of her dorm, her head down. Suddenly, an owl came and dropped a letter beside her. Since it was Saturday, she had no classes, so she could whatever she wanted today. She unfolded the letter and read,

Dear Miss Lily Evans,

We are pleased to inform you that you have a special invitation to go to The Three Broomsticks at 12 today. Do not be late, as it is crucial that you attend. Please come.

Yours,

Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs.

Lily glimpsed at the names and looked up. Those names sounded so familiar, but she just didn't know why. She shook her head and looked at the clock, she yelped, it was only 20 minutes till 12! She ran back inside and wore something that didn't contain bunnies and flower as the print.

Lily tossed her red hair over her shoulder as she ran to The Three Broomsticks. She was very close to being late and Lily Evans was not one for being late! She went inside and looked around. No one was here. Just then, two hands landed on her eyes, covering her sight. Lily smile widely and followed the other person hands around. She grinned as he lifted them up and she threw her hands around James. She hugged him and let go, James smiled and whispered in her ear.

"Lily Anne Evans, will you let me take you to Hogsmeade today?" Lily paused, pretending to think about it. She finally glanced up, her emerald green eyes filled with mirth.

"Yes."
