"Hey guys" Said Samantha greeting her friends by the Great Hall.
"Hi Sam, how are you?" Said Arabelle.
"I'm all right thanks, so, what wild goose chases will we have today?" Asked Samantha.
"We really haven't thought of anything yet, perhaps Edward will plan it for us" Said Jack.
"But...where is Edward?" Asked Samantha, for Edward wasn't in the Great Hall.
"We were actually going to ask you if you saw him before you came" Said Regulus.
"No unfortunately, I thought he was already here?" Said Samantha.
"Oh dear, when Edward's not to be found, there's trouble brewing" Said Esther.
Meanwhile, Edward was hanging by the Courtyard facing the students lockers, sitting at one of the benches, in his hand was a note that he was writing on.
"There you are Ed" Said Jack.
"Hmm? Oh hello" He replied, then went back on writing the note, finishing seconds later.
"What are you up to?" Asked Esther.
"You're about to see" Edward took his wand out and cast Wingardium Leviosa on the note, levitating it until it landed on an open book, one its owner was Edward's new girlfriend, Adelaide, whom was talking with Corina.
"Are you planning on pranking Adelaide? I don't think she'll appreciate your extreme jokes" Said Jack.
"I promise you guys, not this time, and besides, we've been together from before last night, it'd be terrible to lose her this quickly" Said Edward.
"And what's in that note?" Asked Esther.
"Something I have come up with thanks to my silver tongue" He chuckled "Look, it's about to happen" He said, waiting patiently when for Adelaide to open her book when Corina left, Adelaide reached for her book and opened it, but to her and Edward's surprise, a paper in the shape of a spider lunged at Adelaide's face from it, she screeched and fell on the ground, Edward was left speechless by the scene, then was smacked in the head by Esther "Ow!".
"You said you weren't going to prank her!" Said Esther.
"I wasn't! All I was planning to for hear to read it, not to turn to a paper spider and attack her" Edward said, then immediately running to Adelaide, he grabbed the paper spider that was still trying to jump at Adelaide again, which made him rip it apart "Ade, you all right?" He said helping Adelaide up.
"Really Edward?" Said Adelaide, upset and wiping dust away from her clothes "I know you like to make jokes and pranks, but what kind of a joke was that?" Said Adelaide.
"I swear it wasn't supposed to be a prank, even if it was I wouldn't do something like this to you" He explained himself.
"Then who did?" Asked Adelaide.
"I don't know, honestly I don't, I just wrote something on the note and placed it on your book, but I didn't see anyone temper with it or-" Just then, Edward heard a laugh that came from someone who liked to play practical jokes more than Edward "Wait a minute, I know that voice...Peeves!".
Peeves appeared in the air, laughing and cackling "When the students are away, Peeves will play" He said.
"I think not, because when Edward is angry, he'll squash you like pantry, come here!" Edward chased Peeves around the courtyard, Peeves was flying through the air laughing, Edward had to jump all over the benches and statues, and even some students.
Peeves then made a stop near the fountain "Edward will get wet, if he isn't careful I bet" Said Peeves, laughing.
"And Peeves will be sorry when he wasn't careful pranking Adelaide!" Edward jumped after Peeves, only to fall in the fountain when the joking ghost vanished into thin air, and he was right, Edward will be wet if he isn't careful, Students all around laughed, even Jack and Esther "Why that confounded school bum, I'll get him if it's the last thing I do!" Said Edward.
Esther came laughing "Hahahaha! I always seem to forget that Peeves is the only one who could put you in the side of the pranked" Said Esther.
"Oh keep laughing you, because after I'm done with him, you're next" Said Edward, Jack helped Edward out of the fountain.
"Are you okay Ed?" Said Adelaide.
"Lost a bit of my dignity there, but I'm all right" Said Edward.
"But I'm still upset over that prank you did, it gave me quite a fright" She said.
"I'm telling you, that wasn't me, I wasn't trying to prank you, I was trying to hand you a note with a poem, here look" Edward took out his wand and reformed the shredded paper back to a note, handing it to Adelaide, the note said 'Roses are red, Violets are blue, I love you, Adelaide Richilleu'.
Adelaide smiled "That's very sweet of you Edward, but you know you can tell it to me instead of going ways like this" She said.
"And where is the romance in that my fair and lovely witch?" Said Edward.
Adelaide giggled, she leant and kissed his cheek "Thank you, I love it" She said, Edward smiled and nodded, Adelaide picked up her books, leaving while waving, Edward then turned to both Jack and Esther "See? Told you it was something my silver tongue came up with" He said.
"All right then 'Romeo' Come on, let's join the others in the Great Hall" Said Esther.
"Oh no, not just yet, I'm not done with Peeves yet, I said I'll get him if it's the last thing I do, and I meant it" Said Edward.
"You do realize it's Peeves don't you? He's been playing jokes in this school before your grandfather attended Hogwarts, he knows about every prank there is before you plan to play it on him or anyone" Said Jack.
"Still, no one pranks my lady and gets away with it, not by the great hair on Merlin's Beard they won't, tell the others I said hi, now if you'll excuse me, I've got lots of evil plans to think through" Edward left while still soaking wet.
"I've got this feeling Edward won't find it very easy pranking Peeves" Said Jack.
"Normally, I'm always the one to stop him when Edward's planning to prank someone, but just this time, I'll pass the duty to Peeves, I on the other hand will watch just how far Edward can get before he gives up, this should be quite fun" Chuckled Esther.
Later on, while Corina was with her boyfriend Michael in the Hallways, Edward came along "Oi, Corina, can I have a word?" He asked.
Corina excused herself while going to Edward "Hey Ed, I heard about today, did you have a good swim at the fountain?" Joked Corina, giggling.
Edward sighed "Yes yes, I was pranked by the school jester himself, as if I was the only one, I seem to remember when Peeves put frog in your butterbeer" Said Edward.
"It's on me for saying I wonder what's it like to swallow a frog, so what's up?" Corina asked.
"I'll tell you what's up, I'm going to get back at him" Said Edward, which made Corina laugh "What, what's funny?" He asked.
"Oh get serious Ed, you getting back at Peeves? You'd just be asking for a public humiliation again, you know he's-" Said Corina.
"I know I know, he's been pranking everyone before I started, but still, I repeat what I said, I'll get him if it's the last thing I do" Said Edward.
"Which will be the last thing you do" Giggled Corina.
"And not to mention, he pranked Adelaide, while I myself one who won't miss a chance for laughter, but she was my girlfriend, no wizard nor creature ever dares to prank the Great Mystic's girlfriend, except me" Said Edward.
"Aww, aren't you sweet? And what can I do about that?" Asked Corina.
"Well, as far as I know, no one here is more fun loving, prank expert than me of course hehe, and you, so how about it Corina? Peeves can't prank us both" Said Edward.
"Sorry Ed, but I'm not as the joke maker I used to be, my childish days and ways a re over, I can't help you there" Said Corina.
"You've got to be joking, please tell me you are, am I hearing you right?" Said Edward.
"Unfortunately you are, I think I'm done with all the practical jokes anyway, they got me laughs but they've also got me trouble, so again can't help you there" Said Corina.
"Just my luck, the one person who could help me with pranks has given up" Said Edward, sighed.
"But here's how I can help, I can tell you which joke products you can get that'll be sure to get Peeves" Corina whispered in Edward's ear "You can find them at Weasley's Wizard Wheezes" She said.
"Fantastic! Thanks Corina, that'll show Peeves who's king of the pranks here" Said Edward "Stick with Corina mate, she's a keeper" He said while passing by Michael, patting his chest.
A while later, Edward got to Hogsmeade and was at Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, his second favorite place in Hogsmeade after The Three Broomsticks, he went inside to find the shop full of both joke products and students, Ron Weasley was on one side taking students requests "Well well, if it isn't our favorite customer, Edward Mystic" Said George.
"There he is, the king of jokes, after me of course" Said Edward. shaking George's hand.
"So what'll it be this time Ed, fireworks, dung bombs, or shocking sweets?" Said George.
"I'm looking for something to prank ghosts, as much as ridiculous as that sounds, but I think I'll try my luck this time than the usual wizards and witches" Chuckled Edward.
"I know exactly what you mean, they're reactions are much more hilarious, though some may curse you for it, but it's all for good and laughs" Said George "And which ghost will you be playing a joke on?".
"The one who we jokesters are supposed to take after, Peeves" Said Edward.
"Peeves, Peeves himself? I don't think no wizard or witch ever got to play a joke on him, and for good reason" Said George.
"Perfect, means I'll be the first one to" Chuckled Edward.
"If you ever manage that is, Peeves knows more jokes than I and Fred could ever learn, but still, we never would turn away our favorite customer, oi Ron, take this one, will you?" Said George.
"Hm? Oh Edward, hello there?" Said Ron.
"Hey Ron, how's business?" Said Edward.
"Booming as ever, you kids sure love your jokes" Said Ron.
"Come on, don't tell me you haven't pranked at least one back then?" Said Edward.
"Quite the contrary, I was the one getting pranked, and I almost died from one too, I heard you wanted to prank Peeves" Said Ron.
"And before you say another word, yes I know Peeves is more of a prankster than me or you or Fred and George can be, but who says no one can't prank him? Also, he got me today, so I'll get him back" Said Edward.
"Good luck, you'll need a lot of that to do so, and what is it exactly you're looking for to get him?" Said Ron.
"He's a ghost, so I think the best way to get a ghost is by scaring them, and what better to scare a ghost than with something loud?" Said Edward.
"Let me guess, would that happen to be the joke you call your signature one?" Said Ron.
"The very one that you know" Said Edward.
"Right" Ron went and brought Edward a box of Miraculous Mystic Mayhem Makers, they were fireworks that went after whoever it was aimed at "Your favorite I believe, but still be careful eh? That Peeves is a nasty ghost, he might get you again" Said Ron.
"I will, thanks again Ron" Said Edward, waving to Ron when exiting the shop.
Back at Hogwarts, Edward was searching everywhere for Peeves, when he found in the Hallways sitting above a suit of armor.
"There you are, Peeves" Edward quickly opened the box of fireworks and began to set it up, aiming six of them at Peeves, but stopped when he heard someone call his name behind him.
"Oh no...hehe I have a perfectly good reason to explain what I'm doing professor, you see what happened is- oh it's you guys" He said relieved it wasn't a professor.
"Still attempting to prank Peeves?" Asked Esther.
"One way or another I will, and I'm afraid you won't stop me from doing it either" Said Edward.
"Actually for once I won't, I want to see for myself how you'll get him, apparently with fireworks" Said Esther.
"I cast powerful magic into it so even ghosts will feel the blasts, and he consider us even after that" Chuckled Edward "And as a matter of fact, great timing, you could lure Peeves closer while I finish setting up the fireworks" Said Edward.
"Oh no, now I'm curious how this will go and I'm only saying that so I can see Peeves getting you again, but I won't have any part in it, I'm not planning to get pranked myself" Said Esther.
"Oh don't worry, all you have to do is appear vulnerable for him to get close enough, I'll signal you when it's time for you to get away" Said Edward.
"Really now? And how will I know that you won't set it at me once I'm there just for an extra laugh?" Said Esther.
"One, because I only want to get Peeves and no one else today, two, is because I set them to at Peeves so they'll fly over you even if they're right in front of you, and three, you'll do it if you don't any of my pranks coming at you for the next week" Said Edward.
Esther held silent for a bit and thought "A month".
Edward sighed "Fine, fine, just go before he disappears" Said Edward, while Esther went as Edward told her, Edward hid behind a wall with his wand ready, casting a spell at it will trigger the fireworks to go off, but it wasn't long before Esther came back "Don't tell me you've already changed your mind?" He said.
"I've thought about it but it's not that, he's gone" Said Esther.
"What?" Edward went to see for himself and indeed, Peeves was gone "Oh bollocks, now where did he go?" He said, turning right and left looking for Peeves.
"Um, Ed?" Said Esther, tugging Edward's robe.
"Not now Esther, save it for later, help me find him for now will you, please?" Said Edward.
"If you say so" Esther took a step back and covered her ears.
"That's the second time I've lost him today, but he won't get far when I-" Suddenly, he heard that same menacing laugh Peeves has "Oh no".
"While Peeves will hang, Edward will go off with a bang" Said Peeves, setting the fireworks that were aimed at Edward this time, Edward started running when the fireworks were off hurling at him, the fireworks flew into the air, one of them were fixed on Edward, and exploded into a blue powder that was left on Edward too, and each time one of them exploded at him, it left a different color on him, the Hallways were filled with laughter by students and ghosts, especially Esther.
"As you can see everyone, there are many sorts of demons, from kelpies to kappas to pixies to doxies, each one more dangerous than the other, now, our lesson today will be about-" Professor Magnus was teaching a lesson in the Defense Against the Dark Arts class, when Edward entered, he was colored from blue to orange to pink on his body, with smoke coming out of his hair, the whole class was laughing, Esther barely could contain herself "Hush everyone, Edward...are you all right son?" Asked Magnus.
"Peeves, sir, it was Peeves" Said Edward.
"I see, well then go on have a seat my boy, lesson's about to start" Said Magnus, and Edward did.
When the lesson ended, students left the class, all except for Edward "Mr Mystic, class is over, you may leave now" Said Magnus.
"Hmm? Oh right, if you'll allow me to stay a bit more professor, I want to gather my thoughts on...something" Said Edward.
"Very well Mr mystic, as you like, as long as you won't wreck the room as last time" Said Magnus.
"Believe you me sir, that this time I won't" Said Edward, after Magnus left, Esther came too "So, how is the ghost pranking coming along, Edward Rainbows?" Said Esther, barely stopped laughing.
"Laugh it up all you want, but just you watch me, if at first you don't succeed, try and try again" Said Edward.
"You can count on it, I will be watching, I should also get the rest of our friends to watch too" Said Esther, still laughing while exiting the class.
"OF COURSE YOU KNOW THIS MEANS WAR!" Shouted Edward, then went back on the best way to prank Peeves, while at that, a short, Asian-looking, black long-haired Slytherin girl was sitting aside a table, also laughing.
"Funny is it?" Said Edward.
"Yes, very" The girl went on laughing, then went to sit next to him "Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude, but you're the one fireworks were chasing" She said.
"And if I was paying more attention, it would've gone after Peeves..." Said Edward.
"Peeves? He ruined your fireworks did he?" She asked.
"No, I was setting the fireworks on Peeves, long story short, I'm pranking him, and I know what you're going to say and you're right, Peeves is like trying to catch ten Pixies, but I'm not giving up just yet, not until I find a new way to scare him" Said Edward.
"You know...if you want, I'll tell you of a way you can scare Peeves" Said the girl.
"I don't think so, unless you can summon the Bloody Baron or a ghost of Dumbledore, they're the only ones that can keep Peeves from doing his shenanigans" Said Edward.
"No, I have a more slightly scarier ghost than that" Said the girl, she leant and whispered in Edward's ear, of course this plan was dangerous, but Edward was fond of dangerous plans..
At night, In the Hallways again, where Peeves was floating around in the air, he was carrying a lock of chains, he snuck up behind a group of other ghosts and threw it to the ground, the chains were loud but the screams of ghosts were louder, Peeves cackled as he floated away "There he is that trickster" Said Edward, spotting where he went, he and the girl he met at class were waiting behind a wall "Don't get me wrong, I like Peeves, and this is how I show there's no hard feelings" He said.
"So do I, it's funny when he tricks others, but not when it comes to my friends" Said the girl.
"Heh, he pranked one of your friends too? I should've known, but you're sure this would work?" Asked Edward.
"It has before, even if it hasn't, what's the one ghost that's more scary than The Bloody Baron?" She said.
"Well then, seems only one way to confirm that" Said Edward.
While Peeves was cackling and laughing through a corridor, Edward and the girl snuck between wall to wall until Peeves stopped to admire his look in a mirror, that's when Edward cast Nox, most candles were lit off and it became dark, Edward could make the sound of Peeves's nervous laughter.
"All right, we've got him this time, go on it's your turn" Said Edward.
The girl took out her black wand and cast a spell that emitted a shadow from her wand, when Edward cast Lumos to lit the corridor once again, the shadow turned out to be a Dementor, but not a real one, it shrieked and lunged at Peeves, which made him float away as fast he can, screaming in fright, he kept screaming "DEMENTOR IN THE SCHOOL! DEMENTOR IN THE SCHOOL!" Students all around and other ghosts were laughing, Edward couldn't carry himself that he was laughing on the floor.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Got you Peeves" Said Edward, the girl was also laughing "Where did you learn that spell?" Said Edward, getting up.
"When Peeves tricked me the first time, I just thought of the one thing that ghosts were afraid of more than Voldemort" Said the girl.
"Dementors, clever girl, well clever girl, thanks for helping get on Peeves, you're officially on my 'Not to Prank' list" Said Edward.
"You're welcome, now I think we should go, it won't be long before some of the professors will investigate if there's a Dementor in the school or not, I'll see you later" Said the girl.
Edward held her arm before she could leave "Oh no, you're not going anywhere before you teach me that spell, I've just got to learn how to summon a Dementor" Said Edward.
"Well...ok, let's head back to the Common Room, I'll teach you there" She said.
Edward smiled "Edward Mystic, pleased to make your acquaintance" He said, extending his hand.
"Karma" She said, shaking it.
"I like you Karma, you're dark, but I like you" Said Edward, walking to the Common Room with his newly made friend.
"By the way, you won't be using that spell on me would you? I was about to run screaming myself".
