Gondor had a new King. Everything seemed to be fine. That wasn't the case though. Something was off. And King Aragorn was soon to find out.
Legolas walked through the royal garden of Gondor castle. He had returned from Eryn Lasgalen some week ago to start building a new place for The Wood Elves in Ithilien. Even though everything was peace, The Elven Prince Of Eryn Lasgalen hadn't felt well lately. But he may be just imagining it. "Are you alright, laddie?," Gimli suddenly interrupted behind him. Legolas turned to the dwarf, "Do not worry, master dwarf. I'm alright. But I thought I would go and get some rest," Gimli looked confused at the elf Prince. Since when did elves take naps. He needed to tell Aragorn immediately. What if something was wrong with their elf friend. "See you later then, Gimli,"Legolas excused himself quickly and left for his chambers in Gondor's castle.
Legolas wondered why he was feeling like this. He had started having headache not so long ago now. And the pain in his stomach and chest made it even worse. Elf don't get sick! What on Arda was wrong with him?!. "Legolas, are you alright?,"Arwen interrupted suddenly behind him. And Legolas sighed. Why is this happening to him. He couldn't lie to Arwen. His best friend's wife. He and Arwen had also known each other since they were children because of his father's trips to Rivendell. "I'm fine, Lady Arwen, I just need some rest,"Legolas explained, hoping she wouldn't suspect anything. "Legolas, are you ill? Do you want me to get Aragorn?,"Arwen asked in concern. "No, mellon nín, I just need some time alone,"Legolas excused himself, hated the fact that he was lying to her. Arwen nodded, "I'll leave you to rest then, mellon nín," And she left. Legolas exhaled in relief. He had escaped both Gimli and Arwen. Now he needed to take himself to his chambers unnoticed.
Legolas entered his chambers and closed the doors behind him. The pain in his body had grown worse. If he knew Gimli, he had gone to tell Aragorn about his strange behaviour if Arwen hadn't already told him. He locked the golden double doors to his chambers and pulled off his boots and tunic. He walked over to his bed with silk covers and laid down in his bed. He wanted to cry because of the pain, but it would only draw more attention from others. What should he do? It didn't take long before the elf fell into a deep sleep. Full of dark nightmares of his past.
Aragorn sat in his office when Gimli burst into the room. "Aragorn! I think something is wrong with Legolas!,"The dwarf exclaimed. Aragorn turned to the dwarf confused, "What makes you think that? He seemed fine to me this morning," And Gimli sighed, "He said he was going to take a nap! You told me elves only sleeps 4 hours and that they only needs to sleep more if they're poisoned. And that they sleeps with their eyes open unless they're very tired," And Aragorn looked up. What Gimli was describing worried him and he turned to Gimli, "Gimli, where's Legolas now?,"He asked worriedly. Gimli sighed, "In his chambers, I think. He told me he was going to take a nap," And Arwen entered, "Aragorn, I just saw Legolas. He seemed very weak and when I asked him if he wanted me to get you, he told me no and that he was alright. I think he was lying to me," And Aragorn stood up, "I fear something is wrong with him, my love. I'll go and check on him. Come on, Gimli," And they left.
Legolas was shaking violently in his bed as tears started streaming down his cheeks. The nightmares was hunting him for the first time in over 2000 years. And the pain in his chest and stomach had grown worse. Why couldn't he tell anyone about his dark past?! Why was his adar And Lord Elrond the only ones to know!?. He pulled at the covers as he let out small whimpers as the nightmares was suffocating him.
Aragorn and Gimli reached the doors to Legolas chambers. Aragorn knocked gently on the door, "Legolas, mellon nín, are you alright in there?,"He asked in concern. Legolas didn't answer him. Aragorn opened the door and he and Gimli entered. Aragorn hurried over to Legolas in worry when he saw his elven friend laying in his bed, shaking, crying. "Legolas, mellon nín, you have to wake up,"Aragorn said soothingly. Gimli jumped up into the bed, gently patting Legolas arm, "It's just a dream, laddie. You're not well. You have to wake up," Legolas quietly woke up in panic. "NO! Let me go!," "Shh, mellon nín, it's just us," Aragorn whispered soothingly. "Estel,"Legolas mumbled. And Gimli swallowed. Aragorn gently placed his hand on Legolas forehead, "You have fever, mellon nín. That's why you're sweating," And Aragorn placed his hand on Legolas's chest. Legolas whimpered at his touch. "Forgive me, mellon nín. Did I hurt you?,"Aragorn asked worriedly. And Legolas nodded, "It hurts," And Aragorn nodded, "Does your whole body hurt?," And Legolas shook his head, "No, just my stomach and chest," And Aragorn sighed, "I fear you've been poisoned, mellon nín," And Gimli swallowed, "But who would...?," And Aragorn sighed, "I don't know. Do not worry, Legolas. You're going to be alright," And Legolas started coughing. "Please, Aragorn, hurry," And Aragorn turned to Gimli, "Gimli, stay with him. I'm going to see what Legolas ate this morning and see if I can find the cure to the poison," And Gimli nodded and Aragorn left.
Gimli grabbed Legolas hand, "Don't worry, laddie. You're going to be alright," And Legolas felt his eyes close and he drifted back to the world of dreams.
(Legolas dream)
Legolas looked around. He was in a forest with silver trees that he had never seen before. The forest was old. Very old. Suddenly, a bright light blinded the elf Prince and the beautiful Elleth with golden blonde hair like him and blue eyes like his, dressed in a white long glimmering dress with long sleeves stepped out into the light. It was the same Elleth he had dreamt of since Sauron's defeat. The Elleth looked at him with a weak smile. "Find me... Save me...," The Elleth spoke in a majestic voice. And she turned and left into the forest again. "Wait!,"Legolas exclaimed, "Who are you?!," And he ran after her.
He came into an empty clearing and looked around to see if he could spot the Elleth. "Please, My Lady! I need to know who you are!," And the Elleth appeared before him, "We don't have much time! The Darkness has returned,"She spoke slowly. And Legolas looked at her confused, "I don't understand. Sauron is defeated," And the Elleth looked at him, "Sauron wasn't the only threat to Middle Earth. There's much darker evil growing in the shadows. You need to be careful, because he is going to come for you first. You've met his father once when you were an elfling, when your mother died," And Legolas swallowed as he remembered the evil Wizard long ago that had killed his mother in those dark caves at Gundabad. "Please, who is he? What's his name?,"Legolas asked her worriedly. And The Elleth swallowed, "His name...," And suddenly, darkness pulled the Elleth out of his sight and she screamed. "NO!,"Legolas screamed.
"Legolas? Legolas, wake up,"Aragorn's voice called. And Legolas opened his eyes. "Faramir and I tested your food for poison. Someone did poison your plate with breakfast," And Legolas swallowed. "But I have the antidote ready,"Aragorn explained. And Legolas nodded and breathed out in relief. "Here, drink, mellon nín,"Aragorn said gently and gave Legolas the cure for the poison. And Legolas smiled, "It already feels better," And Gimli smiled in relief and happiness. "But who could have done this?,"Faramir interrupted. And Legolas swallowed. It was impossible. He couldn't be alive! Hadrian was locked away by The Elves centuries ago. But who was in that case The Elleth talking about?
