JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Burning Heart, Chapter 1: Giovanni Giordio Part 1

Lightning strikes on a stormy night as a woman runs across a dark street, a wrapped blanket clutched in her hand. She eventually comes to her destination, a large white church with imposing wooden doors standing before her. She looks down at the blanket in her hand, wrapped inside of it was a young baby, only a couple months old.

"You look just like your father." She says, with a slight sadness in her voice. "I know that you'll grow to be as great as him…" The baby looks at her with an emotionless expression. "I'm sorry, you're nothing but a liability to us right now. And as a member of our family, you're in danger." A white aura spreads across her body as her eyes become red.

[Here I stand

Helpless and left for dead]

"[Dance With The Devil] lets me see how much longer people can live… but whenever I look at you, I don't see anything." She tells him sadly. "Your father is so obsessed with fate, so seeing his son be such a mystery, I'm not sure how he feels." She places the baby on the doorstep, causing him to blink.

The woman turns around and begins to run away, "I'm sorry, but this is what will keep you safe." The baby boy tries to cry out for his mother, but nothing comes out of his mouth. Tears begin to fall from his face, but still no sounds come from his mouth.

The baby was eventually found by the church the next day, he had a note within his blanket that stated he was to be raised in the church as well as his name, "Giovanni Giordio". His name was certainly an odd one, a common first name that praised God. His last name was similar to the name Giorgio, but edited to reference Dio, the Italian word for God.

It was obvious that the child's parents were religious, so the church attempted to reach out to others to see if they could find the boy's parents. But no one came up. Eventually, the boy was adopted by one of the church's employees, a woman named Luca Vega.

She already had two other children, Bruno and Mario, aged 14 and 6 respectively. This had happened over the course of two months, and by then, Giovanni still hadn't said any words, he hadn't even made a single noise.

It wasn't that he wouldn't cry or laugh, he would. It was just that no noise was made when he did. It was later found out that Giovanni was born mute, but that wasn't the only strange thing about him that would be found out.

When Giovanni was 5, he was walking around the city with Bruno, who was now 19. "Hey, bro." Giovanni looked up to his much taller brother. "You want some gelato over there?" Bruno pointed to a stand serving some gelato.

Giovanni, unable to say anything, simply nodded excitedly as he clutched his brother's hand, waiting to cross the street. Bruno smiled, "Just point to what flavor you want." he said as they crossed the street. Giovanni had ordered chocolate while Bruno got pistachio, each cone having two scoops of their flavors.

After getting back to the streets, they walked for a bit before Bruno was grabbed by a man, a gun placed to his head. "Drop all your valuables and I'll let you go." The man threw Bruno against a wall, causing him to grunt in pain. "Don't say anything or I'll shoot the kid right there, now hurry up." The man threatened.

Bruno was trying to stay calm, but Giovanni was trembling, scared of what was happening. "Look, there's no need to be violent." Bruno tried to reason with the man, only for his shin to get kicked. "Yeah there is, now stop stalling and hand me your *&^ valuables." The man kept a low tone to not draw attention. "...Alright, but drop the gun. You're scaring my brother." This seemed to anger the man, "You mocking me, asshole?" He asks, finger closing in on the trigger.

"N-no, of course not." Bruno was starting to get uncomfortable as he reached into his pockets and pulled out his wallet. "This is all my money, please leave us now." He threw the wallet at the robber's feet. "That's all?" The robber asks, taking the wallet from the ground while keeping the gun aimed at Bruno. "That should be enough money."

Giovanni watched all of this unfold, knowing that it was dangerous. He wanted to call out for help, but his body wouldn't let him. He was too small to try and fight off his brother's attacker, and he was too scared to even try.

That was when it happened,

Black flames appeared around the gun, disintegrating instantly. Even though the gun was burned to nothing, it didn't harm or spread to the two men near it. "T-The Fu-" The robber didn't finish his sentence, as a spiraling pillar of black flames erupted beneath his feet. A scream of pain erupted out from inside the pillar. The robber's hand reached through the pillar of flames, followed by the rest of his body.

"J-JUST KEEP THE MONEY!" He ran off, fear evident in his eyes and voice. Bruno was shocked and looked down at his little brother, "G-Giovanni, w-was that you?" He knelt down, his eyes and the sweat on his face showing fear. "Just shake your head, yes or no." he instructed before reaching out to touch his hand.

When their hands made contact, Bruno felt a searing pain through his hand and immediately pulled back. Bruno looked at his hand and saw that it was covered in second degree burns. "G-GioGio," Fear was evident in his voice. "What did you do?"

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Burning Heart, Chapter 2: Giovanni Giordio Part 2

Giovanni was never able to answer his brother's question, as he had no idea what had transpired. He was also terrified, especially after his skin had hurt his brother. He tried to reach out to Bruno, but his older brother stepped back, fearing what his younger brother could do.

"D-don't touch me!' He shouted as he took more steps back. Giovanni flinched and stepped back, eyes widening as his normally calm brother shouted at him for the first time in his life. "W-What are you!? Y-you aren't my brother!" Tears began to well in the five year old's eyes.

Even if Giovanni could talk to his brother, he knew he couldn't explain what had just happened. Bruno tried to run from his brother, but another wall of black flames blocked his path. "L-Let me go! W-Whatever you are, just leave me be!" He shouted at his brother as the flames grew larger. "W-what demon has taken you!?" Bruno asked, looking for another way out.

"Please, just let me be. Let my family be, leave us… please." Bruno pleaded with his brother, who couldn't understand why he was like this. The flames died down as Giovanni curled up on the floor and cried. Bruno ran at the first opportunity he could, his legs going faster than either thought was possible.

Giovanni hadn't gone back home that night, he instead just slept in an alleyway. Too scared to face his family after what happened with Bruno. When he woke up, it was still dark outside, but he couldn't get back to sleep. Instead, he decided to walk around the dark city, not caring for the danger it could present. Eventually, the boy got hungry and decided to get food. Unfortunately, there was no restaurant open, so he had to dig within the trash to find things to eat.

The clinking metal of the trash can eventually caught the attention of another man walking through the night. "Excuse me, young man." Giovanni finally notices the man and freezes, some thrown out bread clutched in his hand. "You seem lost, are you alright." Giovanni remains frozen in place, unable to tell the man anything.

The man simply crouched down to be on Giovanni's level, his entire body shadowed by the night's darkness. "I'm not going to hurt you, I just want to help you." The man's voice was soft and comforting as he said this. Giovanni still remains silent, for he had no way to communicate with the man, who takes notice of this. "Can you speak?" He asks, to which Giovanni shakes his head.

"Can you write?" The man asks him, to which Giovanni nods his head. The man brings out a small notebook and pen before handing it to the small boy, "Can you write your name for me?" He asks, to which Giovanni obliges, taking the book and writing his name down. Though the handwriting was sloppy, it was still legible and the man read through it. "It's nice to meet you Giovanni, my name also starts with Gio." He tells him.

Giovanni turns his head thoughtfully, silently asking the man to reveal his name. "My name is Giorno Zeppeli, It's nice to meet you."
