Chapter 35: A Dragon's Confession
John's POV
Tigress and I had been laying together at the Peach Tree for a couple hours. She was sleeping on my lap the entire time and I simply let it happen. She needed it. The sun had already begun to start setting when I heard Crane and Mei Ling coming up to the tree.
"Well, what's going on here?" Mei asked.
"Keep your voice down, she's asleep." I said.
Both Crane and Mei took a look and saw her.
"Don't tell her we said this, but you two look adorable right now." Crane said.
I snorted as did Mei.
"I could say the same for you two as well lovebirds."
"Oh haha." Crane mocked.
"So, how is Shifu?" Mei asked.
I gave them the runthrough of both his injuries and recovery time.
"Man, I can't imagine what Tigress must have felt." Crane said.
"She was fine about it. But just before I was going to tell you guys, she wanted me to stay here with her. So I did and she basically broke down."
"I could tell, your shoulder is still wet and her cheeks look damp still." Mei said.
"She was hurting. All those years of holding it back and she just poured those emotions out for 10 minutes. Not long after she fell asleep, which she has been doing for about two hours."
"You stayed the whole time?" Crane asked.
"I felt like it was the right thing to do. She needs to know that I'm there for her."
"Well you're doing the right thing John. She's been a friend of ours now for years. She never once showed a sign of emotional suffering, let alone a single teardrop. It's as if you showing up really opened that hardcore shell of her's and helped her feel again."
"He's right. It's as if you were meant to be together. In fact, I can tell that you both feel the need of being together romantically. So, like you said to me, Song, Su and Roman; shoot your shot before it's too late." Mei added.
I gave a small snort at her comment. But I couldn't really argue with her.
"I'll keep that in mind." I said.
"Well, we'll leave you to it. If you want, we can tell the others about Shifu for you." Crane said.
I gave a thumbs up as they left me and Tigress alone.
About a few minutes later, I heard Tigress yawning as she began to wake up.
"Hey you." I said as she stretched before lying back on my chest.
"Hi John." She yawned.
"How was the nap?"
"Honestly, not only very much needed but also the best sleep I've had in a while."
"I could tell, you didn't make a sound the whole time I was here."
"You didn't have to do that John. But thank you."
"Hey, if a pretty woman wants to use me as a pillow, then I have no problem with that at all." I said.
She looked away shyly.
"You're just saying that." She said.
"All I'm saying is the truth, Tigress. You are indeed beautiful. I'm fairly certain I'm not the only guy to say that."
"I'm surprised that with that caring nature of yours, you still don't have a girlfriend." She blushed.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"For one, you're good looking yourself. But more importantly, you have a great personality that would make any woman want to be with you. You know how to make someone feel not only happy when you're around but also, you make people laugh with your personality and sense of humor."
I couldn't help but blush a bit with her telling me those things.
"Well to start, thanks for the kind words Tigress, but I have a simple answer for that. I've been waiting for the right one to show up.
Remember when I mentioned I got rejected in high school, and that it was a good thing?"
She nodded.
"Well, that story fits with when we first spoke to each other about my sister having a friend who tried using her for personal gain."
"She was the same one wasn't she?" She asked.
"Yep."
"What happened, if you don't mind me asking."
"Essentially, I asked out this girl when we were in Grade 11 (junior year), I had known her after she had been introduced to me by Kate. She and Lilly were in the grades I was in, just to add some context.
So after she rejected me, I simply moved on and nothing really more happened. We were still friends until the next school year when me and Kate severed ties with her. One day, I was helping Lilly out with some history project since we were both in the same class in the library.
Out of nowhere, she and a friend of hers show up and berate Lilly. She began telling her to stay away from me and calling her a slut. I tried to intervene and mention she's my sister, but she was having none of it and slapped me in the face.
I just laughed it off because during that time, Kate was in one of the aisles when she heard the commotion. Right when this bitch slapped me, Kate came in and literally threw the three out of the library, ending the friendship in the process."
"Safe to say that nobody messes with your family." Tigress giggled.
"You got that right. Ever since, I've been waiting for the 'one' for me."
"I hope that someday you do." She said.
"I have."
"Really now?"
"Yep, and you know her too." I smirked.
"Is that so, mind telling me who she is? I promise not to tell anybody."
'She has no idea!' I thought.
"Sure, but promise not to freak out?"
"I can't guarantee that." She joked
'Here goes nothing.'
"She's by far the most beautiful woman I've ever met. Not just physically, but also as who she is as a person. Always wanting to put others first before herself, willing to sometimes take that step out of her comfort zone to help others, has zero tolerance for bullshit, but the best part of this woman is that I'm telling all of these things about her to her face."
Tigress at first was confused by that, but she then quickly became wide eyed upon realizing what I said.
"Me?"
I nodded.
"But, why? Out of all of the-MPH." I stopped her mids
-sentence and kissed her on the lips.
I felt her tense up for a brief moment before she eased into the kiss. We both unconsciously wrapped our arms around each other and deepened the kiss.
The kiss itself lasted a couple minutes, but I was in bliss. I was happy that I was finally getting to experience of having a girlfriend, that long wait finally paid off with me and Tigress kissing each other
We finally broke the kiss and looked at each other. Tigress had tears of joy on her cheeks and gave me a heart warming smile.
"You have no idea how happy I am John. No one has ever bothered telling me what you've told me, let alone confess their love to me."
"All I said was the truth, Tigress. Every word, I meant all of them." I kissed her on the head.
"I love you John." She chuffed.
"I love you too, Tigress"
We ended up spending the remainder of the day cuddling each other, watching the sunset before heading back to get some food. After a litte date night to ourselves, we ended up spending the night in my room, sleeping together for the first of many nights (not like that, get your minds out of the gutter you pervs XD)
Safe to say, my life has officially gotten even more awesome. But I still had one more little surprise left for the guys, mainly Tigress.
One week later.
Me, along with Shifu, the five and finally my dog Zildjian were making our way to the Peach Tree where Tigress was meditating. I had just returned from Marshal with Shifu and Zildjian about 30 minutes prior.
The plan was to surprise both her with Shifu's return and surprise Zildjian by meeting her favorite toy come to life.
"Ok, wait here. I'll let you guys know when to show up."
They all nodded. I wanted to first make them wait before going to see her.
"Now Zildjian, whatever you do, no biting." I said
She gave a nod before I led her up the stairs but stopped her halfway.
"Stay girl." I said.
I made my way over and saw Tigress sitting there meditating.
"Hey you." I said.
She turned and gave me a smile.
"You're back." She got up and walked over to me.
She was about to kiss me when I stopped her.
"I need you to close your eyes Tigress, I have a little surprise for you."
"Oh really now, ok then." She gave me a smirk before covering her eyes.
I then gave Zildjian the cue to come over to me by whistling to her. Right when she got beside me, her expression went from casual to cute excitement upon seeing Tigress.
She let out a couple barks and proceeded to pounce on Tigress and lick her face. This not only caused Tigress to fall back against the tree, but also let out a small gasp of shock.
I on the other hand was in tears laughing.
"Who's that Zildjian?" I said.
The rest then showed to see Tigress getting back up and started playing with Zildjian laughing.
"Aww, how adorable." Viper said.
She then looked over to us and saw Shifu standing there. He walked over to her as she began to tear up.
"Hello Tigress." He said.
"Hi Baba."
She then hugged him and he did to her. Zildjian had gotten back to my side and sat down with a smile on her face. I gave her a quick pat on the back.
"How's that for a surpirse eh?" I asked.
She gave a quick bark of approval.
After a couple minutes of talking with Shifu, Tigress came back over and gave me a hug in which I did to her.
"Did you like my surprise?" I asked.
She gave me a quick kiss on the lips.
"Does that answer your question?
I simply gave a small nod and laugh.
"So, Dragon Warrior, with Tai Lung defeated and all of us now here, what should we do to celebrate?" She asked me.
I thought for a moment before my stomach rumbled.
"Anyone hungry?" I snorted.
Everyone gave a chuckle as we headed back to the dining hall to get some food.
So, if somebody asked me 2 weeks prior that all because I performed a show with my band at the Jade Palace, I would end up becoming the Dragon Warrior. I would have told them to fuck off.
However, fate decided to really showcase just how funny it can truly be and changed my life in a way I never dreamed of in a million years, and to that I say; not bad for a flying redneck. Not bad at all.
And that concludes American Dragon Warrior. My first ever fully completed story on this site. For those who read all the way to this point, I sincerely thank you for the support and applaud you for tolerating my average writing skills.
For those wondering if there will be a sequel to this, I don't know since I never planned on making more than one for this story, but who knows. I will however be writing more stories in the future. The amount will be undetermined for now.
