A/N: I'm thinking if I should do multi-chapters. Let me know if you're keen!

Sitting at the desk, you stared blankly at your screen, tapping your fingers on the table. You frowned. You're happy but you're confused at the same time. You were just offered a position that you really wanted since the beginning, since you graduated. Deep in your heart, you know that you want it so badly but there is one thing that is stopping you. Aaron Hotchner. The love of your life. You've been together with him for almost two years.

You know he would support you but you're not sure how it would work out between you and Aaron given that the position is not based in DC. You know Aaron was okay with it because he was the one who pushed you to go for the interview but now that you are offered the position, you're thinking twice. Only because you have to be away from Aaron.

You checked the time. 10:15pm. Aaron was coming home in a while. In fact, you could already hear him unlocking the door. You quickly switched the tab on your screen to Netflix and went to the door to welcome him home.

"Hey there," Aaron greeted you with a smile as you approached him. You tiptoed a little; bracing yourself on his chest and gave him a tiny peck on the lips.

"How was your day?" you asked even though you knew it was not a good day for him. It was evident in his slumped body and in the way he was dragging his feet.

"Not so great. But I really don't want to talk about it. I just want to go to bed." He sighed.

"Okay. Just let me finish up something on the computer and I'll join you." You went to your computer, took one last look at the job offer and turned off the computer. Tonight wasn't the night to spring it on him. But you really needed to talk to him soon. They wanted an answer in two days' time.

By the time you joined him in the bedroom, he was already fast asleep. "He must be really exhausted." You whispered to yourself. You walked over to him and gave him a kiss on his forehead. "I love you Aaron."

The next morning, you woke up to the smell of freshly made pancakes. You smiled to yourself. It was Aaron's way of apologizing but he didn't need to. You understood he was exhausted from the case.

"Good morning baby," you sleepily greeted him.

"Good morning sleepyhead. I made pancakes for breakfast." Oh his smile. How can anyone ever want to leave this man. He put three pieces of pancakes on your plate with loads of blueberries, maple syrup and butter – just the way you loved it.

"Aaron, if this is your way of apologizing, you don't need to. You did nothing wrong." You assured him as you cut the pancake and fed yourself. "You were exhausted and I totally understand," you spoke with your mouth full of pancakes. Aaron just smiled at your silliness.

"Can't I do something for my lovely girlfriend?" You couldn't help but smile widely.

You quickly finished up your breakfast and put the plate in the sink. You needed to talk to him about the job offer before he leaves for work and maybe get dragged to another city for a case.

You turned to him. "Aaron, I need to talk to you about something really important." He looked at his watch. You sighed. "Please Aaron? It's really important."

"Can we do it in the car? I'll drive you to your office."

"Fine." You sighed as you walked back to your room to get ready for work.

You sat in the passenger seat in silence, thinking of how to broach the subject. What if he didn't want you to leave? What if he didn't support you? What if all these while he thought you wouldn't be offered the position and the support he gave was just all an act?

"Y/N, I can see the dialogue bubbles around your head." He smirked. "What did you want to talk to me about this morning?"

You took a deep breath and let it out. Aaron frowned at you. "What's wrong Y/N?"

"They offered me the job." He stopped the car on the roadside. He turned to you with a wide grin on his face. He took your hand in his.

"That's great Y/N! It's what you wanted. For so long! You've waited for this opportunity for years." You averted your gaze. You couldn't look him in the eyes. He noticed it. Nothing ever escaped Aaron's attention. "What's wrong? This is what you wanted right? The job?" You were silent.

"Y/N?" You couldn't respond to him. Yes, you wanted the job. But right now, it is at the expense of your relationship. He gently rubbed circles on the back of your hand; reassuring you.

"Yes Aaron. I've wanted this job for the longest time. But if I accept the offer, that would mean leaving you here in DC." He pulled away from you.

"Oh." He didn't know how else to respond to that. He took a deep breath. "Y/N, whatever decision you make, I'll support you. I don't want to hold you back from achieving your dreams." He smiled softly.

"When do you have to give them a response?" he asked.

"Tomorrow." He nodded. The remaining journey to your office was a silent one. You were right. He didn't want you to leave. Although he said he would support you, you knew deep down he doesn't want you to leave.

He dropped you off at your office without even saying anything. There was no 'I love yous' or whatsoever. He just stopped the car and expected you to get out. He didn't even wait for you to walk into the building before driving off.

You sat in your office, contemplating your next move. How would you respond? Would you accept the offer or decline the offer for Aaron? You looked at your phone. It was almost lunchtime and there were no messages or calls from him. You had your screen on Aaron's number. Your thumb hovered over the call button. You don't know if you should call him or let it be.

Evening came and it was time for you to go home. There were still no calls from Aaron. You decided to take a cab home. Maybe he was already at home. You were wrong. The house was empty. You sighed. You headed over to your home office without even bothering to change first. You turned on the computer and responded to the email.

Dear Sir,

Please accept this email as my formal acceptance of the offered position. I thank you for the opportunity and I look forward to making positive contributions to the Department.

Yours Truly,

Y/N L/N

You accepted the job offer. Just as you hit 'Enter', Aaron walked in. He leaned onto the door frame; arms crossed across his chest.

"Did you accept the offer?" You bit your lips and avoided his eye contact.

"You know the answer, Aaron." He let out a long exhale.

"Where?" You looked up at him, making eye contact with him. You could see his eyes glassy.

"I don't know yet." He went quiet. He turned around on his heels and disappeared into the other room.

You remained in your seat, leaning forward on the table and held your head in your hands. You closed your eyes. You'd be deployed to another country for God knows how long. You knew what the job entails. He knew it too when he told you to go ahead with the interview. Now that you were offered the position, he wasn't being as supportive as he was before.

You went into your bedroom and found him with only a towel wrapped around his waist. If only the circumstances had been right, that towel would be off him and you would be all over him. But here they were and he didn't even turn his head to look at her. He was quiet all the way through.

"I thought you'd support me. You said you'd respect my decision, whatever it was." You broke the silence between you and Aaron. There was no response.

"You said you didn't want to hold me back from achieving my dreams. Now where is all that?" You felt your body tense up as you shot him with all those questions.

Tears welling up in your eyes. You blinked back your tears; trying to stop yourself from crying in front of him. There was still no response from him. He went about putting his clothes on as per normal, ignoring your presence in the room. You decided you couldn't be in the same room as him anymore.

Morning came and you found yourself sleeping in the guest room. You heard shuffling from the other room. Aaron was getting ready for work. You looked at the clock.

"Shit. I'm late." You muttered. You hurriedly got up and scurried over to the other room to get ready for work. You noticed Aaron in the room, tying his tie in front of the mirror.

He looked over at you. "Y/N, we need to talk."

"Not now Aaron, I'm late for work." You panted.

He turned to face you. "No Y/N. We need to talk now." He paused, as if collecting his thoughts. "I've thought about it. All night. I think we should end this relationship."

You froze. You were speechless. It felt like your heart just dropped to your stomach. You stared at him blankly. You thought you could work out this relationship long distance. Clearly you were wrong. You felt your chest tightening. Your mouth went dry.

"Please don't do this Aaron. I love you." You begged, tears forming in your eyes.

"I'm sorry. But I can't. I don't think we can work this out, Y/N. Not when you are miles away, countries away from me." He paused again. "I love you too but…I'm sorry." Aaron walked out and left.

The tears forming in your eyes finally trickled down your cheeks. You could no longer handle the heartbreak and let herself drop to the floor. You never expected Aaron to do this. You held your chest as you felt a tightening sensation. The love of your life just walked on you. And there was nothing you could do because you wanted to chase your lifelong dreams – that you thought he was supportive of.
