Hello everyone! I just wanted to share this story roleplay that a friend and I are doing together. It's sort of an AU to how Bucky Barnes became the Winter Soldier. I've long since wanted to explore this part of his story as it's not mentioned much in the MCU. I find it rather interesting. So me and a friend decided we'd roleplay the idea. She has an original character which the main female will be based off of her.
The idea is what if Bucky was a little more resistant to the Winter Soldier programming than before? What if he managed to also escape at one point? These are the ideas that I've been floating around in my head.
This will also be combined with the idea of what would the experiments that they did on Bucky be? This will be inspired loosely by a story called Creator by jadesky1 and the story rp I've done with someone on the Amino app.
Anyway, I hope that you enjoy this story! I can't wait to hear the reviews that you give me! :)
"Get him in here quickly!" Dr. Zola guided the men carrying his long lost test subject inside the base. They had to make it quick one, to make sure that no one who may come and look for the soldier would find them, and two because the man was injured and in desperate need of surgery, "Bring in the Healer while you're at it."
Everyone became a flurry of action as the new arrival started to be carted in. It became clear to everyone that the man's life hung in the balance considering the whole left side of the gurney was covered in blood. He had probably lost half his blood by now, the arm which he lost was a painful looking mess. Splinters of bone protruded from the end of remaining length of his arm. However, Zola noticed that it was rather rotten. The kid must have been out in the elements for a few days.
"Dr. Zola, shall we commence sedation?"
"No. Unfortunately, his physiology won't allow for any traditional sedatives and I'm fresh out of stronger stuff. I'm bringing in the healer to help with the relaxation of the patient while we operate. Have you gotten the metal arm ready to go?"
The lab tech nodded gesturing to a newly made prosthetic arm. Zola had planned to give it to this half unconscious man below him before Captain America had rescued him, but his plans had been scrapped once the man, Sergeant Barnes he believed, was no longer under his care. At least he did get some good data as to the makeup of the Sergeant's left arm before he left him. That way he had something to go off of when the made the arm.
Zola glanced down and noticed the unfocused gaze of their new captive. The boy's blue eyes floated lazily around the room, not once stopping to focus on something. The kid's breathing was slow and labored. Occasionally a shudder or a cough would shake the skinny frame of the American soldier laying supine on the gurney. Most of the time however there was very little movement from the damaged patient.
"I think he's experiencing shock," One of the newer lab doctors walked over to Zola all the while looking at the soldier, "We need to act fast if he's to live through this."
"Where is that blasted healer?"
"I'm right here Dr. Zola! Got held up finishing your last request."
A platinum blond young woman strode in with four guards hot on her tail. She had been the results of another Hydra experiment Zola had spent countless hours perfecting. When they found out of her abilities through the grapevine, they knew that having a healer around to make sure that everyone of the agents here in the base and elsewhere.
She was a mutant and that's what they made were more mutants.
"We must amputate the arm further so that we can replace it with this metal arm," Zola pointed to the prosthetic behind him, "We can't use traditional sedatives so it's now up to you to keep him calm. Also you are tasked with healing as we go. The others and I want to minimize scarring as much as we can."
"But I can't take away that much pain!" The woman stared at the mess the man's bloodied stump of an arm had already made in the compound, "I'm not that good."
"Then his cries of pain are on your hands," Zola moved to ready his instruments, "We are doing this with or without you. Which will you choose? And I suggest you choose wisely before we start or else you will pay in other ways for your disobedience."
All eyes turned to the woman who seemed very conflicted. Zola noticed a gleaming tear running down her face as well.
"Fine! I'll do it! Just don't hurt me," Zola snapped and gestured to a chair to be brought over. She quickly pulled back her hair into a ponytail before sitting down, taking a deep breath and placed on hand on the man's right temple and the other on his right shoulder. She caught his gaze for a few seconds before she concentrated and started sending her calming aura and power into his body.
And that's when the surgery began. At first Zola observed that the man seemed calm, but then as they started cutting into the remaining bone. He began to panic a bit and tried to squirm. However, the woman wasn't about to let that happen and neither did the doctors monitoring his demeanor.
"Shh!" Zola glanced quickly at her as she moved her hand that was on his shoulder to his chest and sent calming energy waves directly into his heart instantly calming him, "You're okay! They're almost done. Just stay with me. Take deep breaths!"
The man squeezed his eyes closed and did his best to take deep breaths despite all the emotional energy coursing through him.
As cleanly as he could, Zola cut almost all the way up into his shoulder, careful to make sure that the bone inside was smoothed out before fitting anything else onto it.
The man managed to stay solely focused on the woman for the most part until the sensation of something metal touching the remains of his arm. He let out a tired yelp when part of the metal hit a rather sensitive part of the stump. It was almost like a sleeve for his shoulder, though basically it was the socket in which the rest of the arm would rest in. The doctors didn't care however. They just continued onward with their tasks.
Before continuing, they attached some wires to some exposed nerves which cause the man to jump even harder than he had previously.
"Hey! Is it too much? What hurts?" The woman tried to keep his focus on her, but he sluggishly closed his eyes and tears started falling. He couldn't speak though. Whatever they were doing must have overwhelmed his senses. Zola just listened at this point.
The woman just double her efforts into keeping the pain down to a minimum for him. They were almost done attaching the socket to the man's shoulder.
"We are done with this part healer. Make sure that his flesh shoulder is healed before we continue." Zola pointed to the inside of the socket where you could see the bloodied stump where the man's arm once sat just inside.
The woman looked up at Zola and then reached her aura across the man's body to his left side and healed the wound created from the amputation. They then slowly drilled the remaining part into his collar bone and shoulder blade, which she healed as well.
"All that remains is to attach the arm, but I think it would be best if he was asleep for this. Can you put him under?" Zola turned to the healer after reviewing her work. His apron was bloody as was his gloves, but other than that, he made less of a mess then a hoard on=f hungry men in the mess hall.
"I'll try," The healer gave a curt nod before closing her own eyes and this time instead of calming the man, she tried to basically make her energy a muscle relaxant.
After at least five minutes the method worked as the already exhausted soldier fell into the confines of unconsciousness.
"Thank you," Zola nodded and then instructed the others around him to bring the arm over. The short doctor attached all the appropriate wires and hydraulics into the socket before gently fitting the monstrosity into the awaiting holder.
It fit like a charm. The wonders of his tech working again.
Zola smiled down at the appendage like he was a proud parent. They'd of course have to make sure that it wasn't loose and that it worked before he could say it was a success. However, the installation of the device had needless to say gone off without a hitch.
"Good work healer," Zola praised their wonderful addition, "You are free to release your hold on him."
She slumped back in the chair and just tried to relax. The one thing she often forgot about her powers was how much it drained her to use them. But she couldn't disappoint her superiors. Not if she valued her life.
"We'll hold him here till he shows signs of waking up. Then we move him to another cell." Zola told the other Hydra soldiers around him, "And make sure that our indispensable healer is shown to her room for the remainder of the day."
Everyone continued to move in a frenzy. Some quickly cleaned up the new asset while the others set out to make sure the man was still indeed going to live through out this.
Dr. Zola however, just stood back and took it all in. This man was going to be his crowning achievement. The experiments he started a long time ago would now be completed. Oh how he wished Schmidt would have lived to see his idea come to fruition.
"Welcome back Sergeant Barnes. When you wake, you will become the new fist of Hydra." He whispered into the unconscious man's ear and smiled sinisterly down at the young face, "I look forward to meeting the new you."
