After defeating Galeem and Dharkon, the world was at peace. The heroes took time to take it all in and move on from it. It wasn't easy per se but they managed to put it behind their backs. After a week of taking it in. They all went back to the Smash Mansion. To settle down away from home, meet their old friends, and make new friends. Of course, you can't forget the battles they will have with each other but in the end, they will still be friends.

As Sonic saw everyone talking and waiting for an announcement, He mind his own business and didn't want to interact with others just yet. His ears flickered as he heard someone come in. The boy looked a bit spooked on where he was but, somehow he's the same height as a teenager, wearing a tunic, and hylian pants. Obviously, maybe it's Link? The hedgehog looked over

The boy mumbled something under his breath, "...wrong time... I'm never trusting uncle Luke again..."

"Hey, you good?" Sonic questioned the boy.

The boy looked up "Grand- er...never mind"

The hedgehog was confuzzled, the boy shook his head. "What is this place...?"

"This is the Smash Mansion, did you not remember?" Sonic said.

The boy looked up, his hair was blonde and bright as the sun, eyes mixed with blue and green, the skin was delicate. The boy was named Abel though his middle name is Link. "I thought this ended years ago?"

Sonic chuckled. "Well it hasn't yet"

Abel rubbed his head and looked around. Every hero was here, all happy to see each other.

He mumbled. "I went too far back" He then sighed and fiddled with his hands a bit. A man named Ike, yelled "Hey! Link is here!"

The fighters looked over and got close to the boy, they were admiring his new look. Abel was startled "H-Huh?! I think this is a misunderstanding! My names not-"

"Dude you look so cool!" Roy said

"Yea" Ike agreed.

"My my look at those eyes~" Bayonetta complimented.

"They're amazing!" Peach giggled

"Mhm! You're really looking cool Link, gotta hand it to ya" Daisy chuckled.

"I'm a minor, please don't hit on me, Bayonetta" He backed away a bit

The witch chuckled, "Oh trust me I'm not like that-"

"Are you spitting demon magic towards this poor child?" Simon said to the witch as he was holding his legendary Belmont whip.

"Oh please I'm fine~" Bayonetta replied.

Abel backed away a bit, "Er... where's gra- I mean Link...?"

"You are Link, what are you talking about?" Captain Falcon said.

"Yea, did you hit your head or something?" Marth said to the boy.

At this rate, the boy was awfully nervous. Sonic saw how and felt how nervous he felt. "Er hey guys, let him chill and ease up for a sec, give Link a moment to breathe."

"My name is not Link," Abel said but the fighters were not convinced and just thought the boy was pulling their leg.

"Hey, guys! Mario is gonna make an announcement!" Megaman said. The fighters looked over and went to go hear the announcement.

The hedgehog looked over, "You sure you're okay? You never act nervous around them...?" The boy shook his head, "Don't worry about it..."

Sonic sighed, " If you say so, come on Mario is gonna announce the arrival and rooms for all of us," He said as he walked away.

The boy looked up to see the smiley plumber boy, who was doing his introduction for the mansion. The plumber was of course wearing his classic overalls, eyes were shining. He was the same old Mario.

"As you know, we have our eighty members in this mansion right now, which means, the mansion is as big as ever, the rules are still the same and you must obey them. I know I know, you hate it, but we gotta respect it. He then clears his throat. "Like I was saying-"

Snake raised his hand up.

Mario looked over. "Yes, Snake?"

"Yea, question, do we have a sex room by any chance for any lovers here?" Snake jokes, making the fighters laugh a bit.

Mario rolled his eyes as he heard the joke and sighs, "No there isn't anything like that. If you ever are planning to have intercourse, I suggest you and your partner do it privately with no one around. Besides, you will have a chance to have roommates! So, if you want to do that, better kick 'em out and do your...thing." He said in disgust.

Abel raised his hand.

Mario looked over. "Yes?"

"Where's your wedding ring?" The boy asked.

Everyone looked at the plumber, some chuckled. Mario was a bit flustered on the cheeks as Abel said that. "O-Oh I'm not married yet." He chuckled. "Should've gotten the chance to marry her!" Falcon jokes, the princess playfully punches his arm out of embarrassment, "Oh hush!" She giggled. Sonic rolled his eyes at the comment and continued to listen.

"Any more questions?" Mario asked.

They shook their heads.

"Alright! Time to set up roomies for you guys on this list, and don't forget your keys too!" Mario said, so cheerfully.

As the plumber announces roommates for everyone. The boy was confused, wondering why roommates? He'd be fine if he was alone but of course, that wasn't going to happen.

"Link and Bowser, you two will be roommates" Mario exclaimed.

Bowser was shocked while Abel panicked being with a scary Koopa. The two looked at each other and decided to go to their room.

Sonic waited for his name to be called, but he hasn't heard his name at all. He was just in the state of thought, closing the noise around becoming quiet. It stopped for a few minutes until someone hugged him from surprise.

Sonic looked over and it was Mario who was hugging him all of sudden, he sighed in relief a bit, thinking it was a certain pink hedgehog being sneaky. It was his once rival and his childhood best friend, Mario. Sonic chuckled. "Hey, how's it hanging?" He said. Mario looked up. "I've been good, jeez it's been so long since we last saw each other!" Mario giggled.

"Yea no kidding, oh hey uh... did you give me a roommate or what?" Sonic asked. Mario snorted a bit, "You didn't hear me silly, I'm your roommate!" The plumber said happily. The hedgehog threw his eyes up, almost fell on his back, and looked really red on the cheeks. He was confused. "W-What?!" He said. "I'm your roommate! Isn't that exciting! For once we can actually be in a room together!" He said. He was so cheerful as a child.

The hedgehog was speechless and didn't know how to respond, the plumber saw and had a small frown on his face. "Did you... expect someone else?" He said. Sonic got up and shook his head, "H-huh, no no, I'm just... I'm just mostly shocked that we would be roommates..." He said while fiddling his fingers.

"Oh... well that's okay, it's fine anyways but this does give us a chance to be with each other, you know?" Mario said, with a smile on his face. It just made the speedster safe. "Yea... guess that will be nice," He said. "Oh! Here are the keys, I already unpacked but I need to help Master Hand and Crazy Hand with other stuff and of course the party we're having" Mario said as he gave Sonic the keys.

Sonic looks over as he sees Mario walking away. The plumber waved goodbye and ran to go finish up other things. Sonic slowly waved goodbye and stopped as Mario fully went to his destination.

His heart was beating once again...

His cheeks were hot...

Why? He thought...

'Why is this feeling coming back to me again?'

Hours passed. It was night time and the party was still raving. Every fighter was having an amazing time together and reuniting. As they were happy, of course, there's gotta be the odd one out, right? Surely enough it wasn't Abel. He stayed in his room, hopefully, he'll get some confidence out of this new thing. But there's gotta be room for one more odd one. It was the blue blur himself, being in the corner, watching everyone.

But why? Isn't he the most extroverted person and would dare to go anywhere. Yes but not all extroverts aren't always going to have fun every time 24/7. He didn't feel out of place. He just admired everyone for having fun. Though he can't get someone off his mind lately.

His ears flicked as he heard the familiar giggle from the kitchen, he peeked over. It was Mario. He was with Samus, Marth, and Fox. They were having a conversation. It felt so strange to Sonic how he only pays attention to whether Mario talks or giggles. Almost anything the plumber does. His smile was his favorite.

To him, it felt like nothing could wipe it off from him. There were times where Mario was angry and sad... but happiness always would shine on Mario's face.

Sonic snapped back to reality as soon he saw Mario's face up close to him. He fell down and got up quickly, he blushed heavily. He heard the giggle again as he looked over. The plumber stopped and smiled at Sonic. "You okay? Didn't mean to startle you." Mario said. Sonic shrugged it off and chuckled. "Yea, I'm good. It's fine really." Sonic said, acting cool.

Mario snorted. "Well, what are you doing here all alone in the corner?" He questioned. Sonic looked at him. "Oh uh, I just wanted to. I don't party every day" Sonic said, making Mario giggle more. "You're giggly, someone put something in your drink?" He joked but still hoped Mario was careful.

"Yea I'm okay, I just have been happy to see everyone, but I'm mostly happy I got to see you," Mario said as he moved his hair back a little. Sonic blushed and looked down, all shy. "So have I... hey... I was thinking-" Sonic said before getting cut off.

"Hey Mario, we need the cake out, people are waiting. " Fox said. Mario looked over and smiled. "I'll be right there," Mario said before turning back to Sonic. "What were you gonna say?" He questioned.

"Huh? Oh, it's nothing, no worries. Go bring out that cake. I'm gonna head to sleep" Sonic stretched and about to head upstairs. Mario looked at him, tilting his head. "It's only nine. Are you sure you're tired?" He questioned. Sonic gave him a thumbs up. "Yea, I'll see ya in the room," He said as he continued to head upstairs.

Mario blinked a few times to see if he heard Sonic correctly but he did. It was strange to him that he would sleep so early. He shrugged it off and went to the kitchen.

As Sonic shuts the door and sits down on his bed. He can feel his heart pumping through his chest. He tried to breathe slowly.

'Why now?!'

'Why did this feeling have to come back again?!'

The thoughts kept coming to his head, he clutched his head and kept begging for it to stop. The moment it stopped until someone said...

"Hey, are you alright?"

The hedgehog looked up.

It was Abel again, his face peeked through the door. The Hylian showed a face of concern. Sonic cleared his throat and sniffled. "Uh...I guess..." He replied. "May I ask what's wrong?" The Hylian closed the door and sat down with him.

Sonic was a bit nervous and looked down all shy. "... Can I tell you something?" He questioned. "Of course," Abel replied. Sonic fiddled with his fingers. "It's been on my mind lately... a lot actually. Maybe even for a long time" He said, with a hesitant voice. "There's something I don't understand... It's about Mario." Sonic said.

Abel nodded. "What about him?" He asked. The hedgehog blushed slightly. "I don't know. Every time I was with him, there were always butterflies in my stomach, my cheeks felt hot, my tail wags. I get so weird around him but not in a bad way. His smile is so sweet, his hands are so soft even though he's strong. H-His eyes! His eyes are just perfect! I don't really understand? And I think there's something wrong with me?!" Sonic blurted out and covered his mouth, all flustered.

"I said too much, huh?" Sonic said to Abel

Abel chuckled a bit and smiled, "It's no problem... Sonic, I think I know why. You like him. You love him." Abel said. All it did was make Sonic cover his face more, ears droop down and so red in the face. That's something you don't see from the blue hero himself. "I'm serious, you like him. B-besides, didn't you ever actually fall in love?" Abel said.

He puts his hand down and sighs. "I don't think I did before... it wasn't easy," Sonic said. "Then maybe this is a new fresh start for you... I would suggest you two should spend some quality time. Maybe even get to make good memories with each other. " Abel said. Sonic took in the thought of it, he nodded.

"Maybe tomorrow you could hang out with him? Ask him if he is free." Abel suggested. Sonic nodded and looked at Abel. "Thanks..." Sonic said as he smiled a bit. Abel smiled as well. "Of course, anything for you, if you do anything, I can help you," Abel said as he got up.

The two said goodnight to each other. As Abel closed Sonic's door, Sonic plopped onto the bed and looked at the ceiling as he got comfy. He thought about what Abel said and had a smile on his face. He closed his eyes.

'Love, huh?'

'Guess it'll be my real first love'
