Hey, readers! Today I bring you another story of an undecided length about Jinx.
Yes, I said it, Jinx. That one very eccentric and mischievous pink-haired girl who literally carried the entire H.I.V.E. Five until she left with Kid Flash.
Well, to be honest, the Teen Titans themselves are heavily involved, don't worry. Jinx basically has to stay with the Teen Titans for a while- and during her stay she certainly brings a little more spice to the team. This should definitely be interesting.
Anyways, I don't own the Teen Titans, and happy reading! Please R if you like this story!
"Jinx should be here in a few hours," Robin reported, hanging up the phone and coming back to join the rest of his teammates.
The Teen Titans were lounging on the roof of Titans' Tower, enjoying the sunset and the golden light. There had been unusual amounts of rain lately, and the Titans were glad to finally have a clear, sunlit evening.
"Why is she staying with us again?" Beast Boy queried from his stretched-out position across the roof floor with a yawn.
"Because now that she left the H.I.V.E. with Kid Flash, the Brotherhood of Evil hates her," Cyborg laughed. He was sitting on the very end of the roof, legs hanging over the edge above the shimmering water.
"Specifically, Madame Rouge," Raven deadpanned, hovering above the ground like she usually did when she was meditating except that she wasn't meditating.
Cyborg sucked in a sharp breath. "Oof... Madame Rouge is a sucky person to have after you."
"Agreed," Robin chimed in, legs stretched out next to the lying figure of Beast Boy.
"Is the Kid Flash residing with us too?" Starfire, sitting beside Cyborg in his same position, queried, the marigold glow of the setting sun reflecting beautifully off of her tan skin.
"Just Jinx," Raven answered with her usual monotone.
Cyborg faced Starfire. "But Kid Flash'll be coming with Jinx to help her get settled in," the half-robot added matter-of-factly.
"How long is she staying?" Beast Boy piped up again.
"Titans, I thought we went over this..." Robin muttered disapprovingly, but despite the changeling's annoying forgetfulness responded anyway. "As long as she needs to."
Gleeful chirping sounds were suddenly audible as a cluster of small birds blew in front of the Titans, happily fluttering in front of the sun, and flew away.
"Which is..?" Raven prompted somehow sarcastically.
Robin, thoroughly exasperated, threw his arms up in the air. "Okay, do you guys have a problem with Jinx being here?"
An uncomfortable silence.
Finally, Starfire offered sheepishly, "Jinx is a lovely acquaintance, but she is quite... odd. What if she fails to get along with us during her residence here?"
"Also, it's a little weird, you know, seeing as just a few months ago she was trying to kill us!" Beast Boy exclaimed, lifting his upper body up on his arms and staring at Robin intensely. "She used to work for the H.I.V.E., remember?"
"Yeah, and Jinx and I have some... history...kinda. Heh. Sorta." Cyborg blurted out quickly, coughing awkwardly into his fist and his face heating up.
"And if she's trying to hide from someone...why would she come here?" Raven queried dubiously. "We literally live in a T-shaped tower in the middle of the water. We aren't exactly Undercover Central."
Robin, apparently at a loss for words, blinked rapidly, collecting himself. Then, "You don't have to like it." His voice had returned to its original authoritative tone. "You just have to be civil to Jinx while she's here- which isn't that hard. She probably won't be here long- Jinx is intelligent enough to watch herself most of the time. Just deal with it."
The other Titans still remained uncertain, but didn't protest Robin's words. Maybe staying with the outspoken, loose cannon, and eccentric Jinx wouldn't be so terrible.
It was going to be important to stay resilient.
"That must be her now," Robin announced to his friends, and he trotted off to the door to allow the Titan inside.
It was dark now, and all of the Titans had gone back inside after the sunset complete to wait in cautious silence for their necromancer guest. Now they all followed their leader to the door, who opened it to the faces of Kid Flash and Jinx.
"Hey, Jinx!" Robin greeted the pink-haired trickster upon seeing her, shooting a death glare at his unenthusiastic friends behind him.
The Titans all offered various apathetic greetings.
Jinx grinned and rolled her cat-like bubblegum eyes to the ceiling, seemingly unaffected by the obvious disinterest of the team. "Well, you all sound happy to see me."
Not waiting for a reply, she sashayed past the teenagers to explore her surroundings, eyeing the advanced computers and wide-screen TV, running her thin pale hands over the surfaces of each electronic. Eventually, she let out a big sigh and, arms over her head, flopped onto the sofa, apparently making herself comfortable.
Kid Flash, who'd been behind Jinx, watched the girl with an awkward look on his face, like she was his embarrassing little sister, but didn't make any comments. "What's up, guys," Kid Flash said brightly, fist-bumping Robin and lifting his arm in a wave toward everybody else, edging inside the Tower to allow the automatic door to close behind him. Like Jinx, he was given semi-enthusiastic greetings, and led into the main room, where Jinx had already set her luggage down in various places among the room.
Kid Flash seemed to sense that maybe the Titans weren't overly pleased with Jinx's less-than-proper behavior, so using his gift of speed, he ran around the common room and collected each of Jinx's bags, screeching to a stop in front of the Titans. "Where should I put these?" he asked casually, holding them up.
"Oh, how rude of us! We have not shown you to your quarters," Starfire gushed, and in the blink of an eye she was standing over Jinx, who sat up abruptly. "Please, follow! We will show you where you will stay." With that, Starfire flew out of the room, Kid Flash sprinting as usual behind her with Jinx's things. The other Titans followed as well, Robin taking a bag from Kid Flash to lighten his load.
Except Jinx.
Raven, who was just about to leave the room, noticed Jinx wasn't following them and stopped just in the doorway, a quizzical expression on her face. "Are you coming, or..."
Jinx sat up, seemingly surprised that someone noticed her absence. She pulled herself up so that her upper body was sitting up but her legs were still flat on the couch and stared at Raven curiously. "Starfire's hot. Ever considered dating her?"
Raven rolled her eyes and started to leave- but did a double take.
What?
"What- Starfire- she- I'm-" Raven took a deep breath. "Starfire is with Robin. And I'm- straight. I'm not interested in girls." What type of question was that?
Jinx made a face. "Really? You are? No way, I always thought you were bisexual or gay or something. You just gave me those vibes. Huh, suit yourself." She hopped off of the couch and landed on two feet daintily, twirling all the way over to Raven and looking up at the taller empath. "Shame, I always had a little crush on you. But that's fine- Kid Flash is great." Jinx flashed Raven a mischievous grin and skipped out of the door to join the other Titans.
Raven, at a loss for words, just watched Jinx disappear with her face stuck in a mask of bewilderment. It wasn't the first time someone had assumed her sexual orientation- in fact, more people than not thought she was into other girls. But Jinx? Now? And she had a thing for her? And what did she mean by "Kid Flash is great?" What was up with that whole interaction?
Nope. It was way too late for this. Raven was not going to consume her energy overthinking this. There were much more pressing things to contemplate than Jinx. God. She'd definitely have to be a little more careful around Starfire for the next few days the witch would be there.
Raven groaned. It hadn't even been an hour since Jinx's arrival and she was already worn out.
As the sorceress shut the doors to the common room and, exasperated, made her way to Jinx's temporary bedroom, she already knew the girl's stay here was not going to be an easy one.
