(All OC's are of my creation. And I do not own or claim to own any of the characters from Resident Evil.)
(I am considering doing shorter chapters. The first 3 are all at least 2,000 words. But I worried that is to much for one chapter on here. what do you all think? Longer chapters means updates will take longer. But shorter chapters mean slightly faster updates. )
OC's inner thoughts
Chapter 4
The moment I enter the room a swarm of bugs rushes past me. Following the swarm with my eyes as it stops above a chair. The millions of insects combining to form Cassandra. Next to her on either side are her sisters. Ignoring them for now I follow Donna's lead towards the chairs near Alcina. Well aware of the eyes watching my every move. Quickly realizing Donna has brought me to the dining room. Thankfully no rotting food is to be seen. Unlike the game would make you believe, the castle is actually well maintained. 'Now that I think about it, didn't the village not go to hell until a few days before Rose was taken? ' Saving these thoughts for later, I take my seat beside Donna. Angie hopped up into her owners lap. Alcina is sitting with her back to the door. Her chair is much larger then any of the others. Somehow I end up in the seat between Alcina and Donna.
"..." At a loss for words under Alcina's gaze, I just sit quietly.
"Donna care to explain what transpired with Mother Miranda?" Alcina's question makes Donna jump. The poor woman had been too focused on trying to eat without showing her face.
"Little sis was sooo out of it! Mother Miranda had to slap little sis to wake her up!" Angie giggles madly at Alcina's shocked expression. "Mother Miranda made up for it though.~"
"Did she now?" Alcina lights her smoking stick, looking at me as she takes a drag of her cigarette. She blows out the smoke in my direction. "And how exactly did Mother Miranda 'make up' to you?" The thought of someone harming what she has claimed her own, makes Alcina want to hurt something.
"Mother gave her this!" Angie explains for me while Donna's hand reaches up and touches the choker around my neck. Cursing myself when I flinch at her touch.
'My neck is starting to really hurt. I am scared to even try talking right now. Crap they noticed that didn't they.' Donna's hand quickly retreats. I can feel the worried stare she is aiming at me.
"I'm fine." My voice sounds a little unsteady, but thankfully doesn't crack or stutter. 'They didn't buy that for a second.' My damn heartbeat is accelerating which is probably why Alcina is staring at my throat now. "I really am fine."
"You are a terrible liar, prey." Cassandra snickers at me from across the table. She is sitting with her elbow on the table, her chin resting on her open palm. "We can smell your blood.~" Her words make me tense up.
"Blood?" I tilt my head to the side in giving the dark haired girl a confused look. The choker around my neck shifts slightly as I do. "As far as I know I'm not bleeding anywhere."
"Mother, she smells so good.~" Daniela whines from her spot next to Cassandra. All three of them are staring at me hungrily. Their eyes glowing gold as they giggle evilly. Blood from their meals is dripping down their chins.
"Girls, you are excused for now. Go and finish the tasks I gave you earlier today." Alcina gets up gracefully from her chair.
"Yes mother." They all get up and walk out of the room. Which I find a bit strange since normally they just fly out. And they didn't even try to bite me this time.
"Donna, you are free to stay if you wish but I need to speak with Serilda. " When Donna makes no sign of leaving Alcina sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose. " Alone, Donna. I must speak to her alone."
"Fine! But you better be nice to our little sis!" Angie slams her little hands on the table to emphasize her words. Donna snags one more muffin before shifting Angie in her arms and leaving.
'Why do I feel like I'm about to get scolded?'
"Come along Serilda." I don't even get to ask where we are going before I am pulled out of my chair. Alcina holds my hand as we walk through the halls. She keeps glancing down at me every so often. Each time I catch her doing it, I give her a strained smile. I can't even make myself try more than that. The pain in my throat is just getting worse by the minute.
'Damn adrenaline must have worn off.' My grip on Alcina's hand tightens when a group of four maids we pass start whispering. Their words make me feel uneasy for some reason.
"There goes another one. " An older maid with blond hair whispers to her companions.
"We will be hearing screams soon, I bet." A younger girl holding a basket whispers back. The other two maids nod their heads in agreement. "At least it won't be one of us this time."
"Alcina?" She doesn't respond or even look down at me. My voice is starting to sound like I am choking on something. "Alcina is something wrong?" I try again only to get the same result. Resigning to my fate I just do my best to keep up with her. My shorter legs having to jog a bit to keep from being dragged through the castle. Eventually we make it to a black door with gold designs on it. Alcina drags me into the room locking the door behind us after shooing the maids out. Looking around briefly I see that this must be her office/study. On one side of the room is a large desk with books and papers scattered across it. Behind the desk the wall had four large bookcases full to the brim. Like nearly every room in the castle, there is a fireplace that is warming the whole room. In front of the fireplace is a large couch with a floral pattern. This is were I find myself forced to sit, with Alcina sitting to my left.
"I-"
"Do not try and lie to me Serilda." Her harsh tone makes me flinch.
"I do not wish to lie to you, but..." My chin is gripped harshly as I'm forced to look at her. The pale-blue eyes she normally has, have been replaced by fierce gold.
"Tell me what happened." Tears form in my eyes when she demands this. "Draga mea, please tell me..." Her hand moves to wipe my tears away. The gentle action just making more fall down my cheeks.
"I don't wish to remember it. " My hand subconsciously reaches up to touch my neck. Miranda's unspoken warning ringing in my ears. "Mother Miranda she..." I stop talking as a severe wave of pain hits my throat. Both my hands moving to cover my mouth as I start to cough. Each cough causing even more pain.
"Let me see your throat." Alcina doesn't wait for my approval. Her large hand reaching behind me to unhook the choker Miranda gave me. A low growl escaping her lips as she sees my bruised skin. The clear imprint of Miranda's hand and claws etched into my skin. "Who did this!? " I shake my head, not wanting to tell her.
'If I tell her there is no telling what she will try and do to Miranda.' My silence angers her but she doesn't get violent with me. Instead she pulls me into her lap so she can hold me close. My head resting on her chest as she rubs my back to try and calm me. But being the clever woman she is, Alcina easily puts the pieces together.
"Mother Miranda is the one that hurt you, is she not." I hesitate before nodding my head slightly. Alcina's arms tighten around me possessively. "I do not know what happened today. But know this- " She pauses to reach up and cup my cheek. " She will not touch you that way again." Her words make me smile softly, my small hand moving to rest over hers on my cheek. I close my eyes leaning into her warm touch. My tears soaking into her gloves doesn't even bother her.
"I wanted to tell you but she..." I grip her hand tightly as what happened earlier flashes through my head. The pain in my throat making it hard to talk. "She got angry at me.." At her questioning gaze I force myself to continue. " I...have visions...this morning the vision was of...you."
"Me? And what was I doing in this vision? " Her question makes me start to shake in fear. The burning in my eyes from earlier returning with a vengeance.
"I don't - please don't make me - " I grasp my head in pain in a vain attempt to stop the images in my head.
"Serilda calm yourself, you are safe here iubirea mea." My heartbeat is going a mile a minute, her gentle tone helps but I can't seem to calm down. We sit there for what feels like hours as I try to calm down. Through all of it Alcina is there for me. Be it rubbing my back soothingly or wiping my tears, she stayed. Even when the tears stop my body is still shaking. 'Why am I reacting like this? I don't normally have panic attacks this bad. Maybe because I don't have my medicine?' With one last shuddering breath I finally manage to calm down enough to talk again.
"I'm sorry..." I sniffle softly not looking the woman holding me in the eye. A wave of embarrassment quickly replacing my previous emotions. " I must look awful right now. " I give a small laugh that turns into a wince of pain.
"Do not apologize Serilda." She leans down to kiss my cheek, smirking at the blush now dusting my face. "I cannot say that I fully understand what caused this little tantrum. But when it comes to you I find myself...captivated."
"I don't fully understand my powers either. " She places her finger against my lips to silence me.
"No more talking for now, draga mea. It pains me hearing that rasp in your lovely voice. You can explain these visions of yours later." My cheeks puff out in a childish manor as I nod my head that I understand. Her gaze moves to my bruised neck, or more specifically the five small dots of dried blood. Rolling my eyes at her I reach up towards my neck. Her hand shoots up reflexively to grab my wrist. "What are you doing?"
"Blood." She gives me an angry look for speaking again. But I ignore her to quickly reach up with my free hand and run my nails over the dried blood on my neck. Biting my lip when the desired effect of the wounds reopening. Fresh drops of blood forming quickly.
"Hmm~" Alcina pulls me up so she can reach my neck easier. Her warm breath hitting my skin sends shivers down my spin. " I would love nothing more then to dig into this little treat. But I fear it will waste away on me before its flavor can be savored." My hand reaches up to cup her cheek as I smile at her. " You wish to give me something to make up for this, correct?"
I nod my head, still smiling at her warmly.
"Very well, but I will only sample this treat. " She chuckles softly a my upset expression. "Do not worry, love. You can offer me a full meal after you are healed. For now though.~" A gasp escapes my lips as her warm tongue touches my neck. My hands gripping onto the collar of her dress as she carefully licks up my blood.
'She is being so gentle...I don't want her to stop...' No sooner do I think this does she finish her little treat. I have to struggle not to show my disappointment when she stops. 'That felt...amazing. I was expecting it to at least sting a little.'
"I can't wait until you are healed." Alcina purrs lustfully as she kisses my neck. No doubt leaving a bright red lipstick mark. One more then likely on my cheek too now that I think about it. " You are free to stay in here if you like. But I sadly have work to do regarding the winery." She picks me up under my arms as she stands up. Holding me in the air for a minute like I am a puppy before setting me on the ground. " One more thing.
" ?" I tilt my head, wondering what it is. Frowning when Alcina puts the choker back on me.
"A lady must always look her best." With one last smile she walks over to her desk to get to work. My eyes follow her for a moment, a small snicker coming from me when she puts on a pair of half moon glasses. Not long after she gets settled the sound of her writing away fills the air.
'She looks so cute like that. But what should I do now? Not like I have a job or duties to take care of.' Out of habit I reach down to my hip to get my purse. Cursing in my head when I remember that the triplets took it. 'I hope they don't break anything...' My expression becomes worried at the thought of them breaking a very particular item. I rest my elbow in my hand, my free hand resting under my chin in thought. 'I need to find them. But what do I do when I do find them? Cassandra hates me, Daniela is...well I can't say she hates me but she would likely side with Cassandra. Bela though hasn't acted harshly towards me. She is my best bet at finding out what happened to my things. But how to find her? The girls all come when Alcina calls for them. But I think that has something to do with the mold connecting them. First things first I need to try and explain things to Alcina.' I look up towards the tall woman working away at her desk. My eyes zoning in on a box labeled 'blank paper' on her desk. 'Bingo! Even if she doesn't know about my purse I could still occupy myself with drawing.' Smiling as I walk over to her to try and grab a piece of paper. But as I get closer to the desk I realize that it might be harder to do then I thought. 'Of course her desk would have to be taller to accommodate her. ' Where a normal desk would be around hip height to a human, Alcina's desk is higher then my head. 'How did I not notice it was so tall earlier?' Sighing I take a deep breath before reaching up with a shaking hand to tug on the sleeve of her dress. The scratching of her pen stops instantly as she looks down at me.
"Yes?" Her gaze follows my hand as I point at the box of paper on her desk. "Can't reach?" Her tone is amused as she grabs a few pieces of paper for me. Handing them along with a small jar of ink and a pen to me. "Please do not make a mess with the ink. Daniela has already cost me a fortune after her last 'drawing'. " I give her a deadpan look of 'are you serious?' which gets me a smirk in return. "I know you are not a child, but the warning would be the same for everyone. "
I give her one last mock glare before walking back over to the sitting area. Carefully moving some of the things on the coffee table so I don't get ink on them. Once I am seated and testing the pen on a piece of paper, the sound of Alcina's writing starts up again. 'Was she making sure I wasn't going to break anything? I'm not that careless...most of the time.' After taking a minute to get used to how this pen works, I start a basic sketch of my drawing. I have used fountain pens before but each pen is different. Even pens made exactly the same way can have subtle differences. This pen for example seems to release ink faster then the one I used back home. 'I'll talk to Alcina later when she isn't busy with work. For now I'll try and relax a little.' With that thought I get to work on my drawing in earnest. Glancing at Alcina from the corner of my eye every so often as I draw. The familiar smell of ink and paper soothing me. A smile on my lips as I focus on my art. 'When is the last time I have been able to draw like this?' So focused on my drawing I didn't even notice Donna and Angie enter the room. Only noticing their presence when Donna places her hand on my shoulder. The black clad woman is leaning over the back of the couch staring at my drawing. My drawing is of Alcina as she works at her desk. The shadows carefully shaded in to match the light cast on her. I hold a finger to my lips while nodding my head in Alcina's direction. Moving a drawing of the triplets I did earlier to cover the one Donna saw. 'I don't want Alcina to see that one yet.'
"Donna could you come here please." Alcina calls to the doll maker from her desk. Donna hesitates a moment before placing Angie next to me on the couch. The doll looks at me, making me jump a bit. Satisfied that Angie is comfy, Donna walks over to speak with Alcina. I can't exactly hear what they are saying so I turn my focus to Angie.
'Wait...is the doll able to move without Donna?' I stare at Angie curiously, the battered glass eyes staring right back at me. 'I..kinda wanna draw her now too...' Shrugging my shoulders I grab another blank piece of paper. Getting to work on a small sketch of Angie, but I draw her as she would look when first made. Being careful not to change much other then removing any signs of damage. When I look back up at Angie a few minutes later I pale a bit. The old doll has moved so she is facing me with her arms crossed. 'Please just let it be Donna playing a prank on me. ' Looking over at the other woman in the room doesn't help me. Donna has her back facing me...She can't see what I am doing right now so that means...
' Angie can move on her own.'
