Author's Note: Hey, everybody! This is just a small fluff story I wrote a few months ago, and I totally forgot about it!

So here it is now! I hope you enjoy it!

I do not own Newsies or its characters.

Katherine Plumber- Pulitzer- soon to be a Kelly- sleepily opened her eyes and stared up at her roof.

She took in a deep, cleansing breath, said a silent prayer for the day, then sat up.

"Ahhh!" Katherine yelled upon seeing her fiancé sitting on her work desk.

"Jack Kelly-"

"Good mornin', Kath." he smirked.

"What the heck are you doing here? Shouldn't you be selling papers?"

"I sold two hundred yesterday, so's I thought today I's would take a half day." Jack replied.

Katherine rubbed her forehead tiredly.

"Then?"

"Then I just wanted to sees you," Jack smiled.

"How long have you been here?"

Jack shrugged. "Forty-five minutes."

Katherine's eyes widened. "Gosh, Jack; I'm not that beautiful."

He let out a lighthearted laugh. "Uh, yes you's is." Jack slowly stood and walked over to Katherine. "May I?" he asked, nodding to her bed.

Katherine gave him a little smile. "Sure."

Jack sat himself down beside her.

"Good mornin', Ace," he smiled, cautiously leaning forward and tucking a couple tangled curls behind her ear.

"Good morning, Jackie," Katherine answered.

Jack boldly leaned down and took her face in his hands, kissing her passionately.

Katherine was slightly surprised, but she gently kissed him back, wrapping her arms around his waist.

A minute later, Jack pulled away.

Katherine blushed.

"Sorry," Jack apologized. "was that weird?"

Katherine shrugged. "No."

Jack smiled, taking her hands in his.

"I love you, Katherine."

"I love you too, Jack." Katherine kissed his forehead. "I'm so excited; our wedding is in three weeks."

"I's excited too." Jack smiled.

"Once we're married, you won't have to wait on my desk for forty-five minutes like an idiot."

Jack's brows furrowed. "You's callin' me a idiot?"

Katherine nodded. "You can be- but I still love you."

Jack laughed.

"Do you want to stay for breakfast?" Katherine asked shyly.

"I's already ate a little somethin'."

Katherine tightly squeezed his hands. "Jack, if you're still hungry, we can eat eggs. I can make coffee."

Katherine knew Jack had his pride, but still, she could see the slightest bit of hope in his hazel eyes.

"I'm going to get dressed," she said.

"Oh- oh." Jack jumped up, exiting her room.

"I'll be right out!" Katherine called as he shut her door.

She quickly dressed into her favorite pink skirt and flowered blouse, brushed her long auburn curls, then headed into her kitchen, where Jack was cooking eggs.

Katherine's eyebrows rose.

"That was fast."

Jack smiled. "I's hope ya like your eggs scrambled."

Katherine strolled over to her fiancé.

"You never cease to surprise me, Mr. Kelly."

As she neared him, Jack leaned down and kissed her.

"And you'll neva cease to be wonderful, soon-to-be Mrs. Kelly."

Katherine smiled. "Thanks for breakfast," she said.

"No problem, Ace."

"Did you teach yourself how to cook?" Katherine asked.

Jack nodded. "I's made simple things for the boys, like eggs and oatmeal and toast."

Katherine gently placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Well, I really appreciate this- I can barely cook anything."

"It really ain't a problem, Kath." Jack restated.

Katherine stretched up and kissed his cheek.

"I love you." she said again.

"I love you too, Plumber." Jack smiled.

As Katherine started on the coffee, she felt her heart flutter in her chest.

This man was soon going to be hers.

She loved him.

From his smirk to his curls to pretty eyes, he was beautiful.

Sure, sometimes he could be an idiot.

But he was a beautiful idiot.

He was an idiot who was her best friend.

And an idiot who was almost her husband.
