Disclaimer: I would like to confirm that I do not own the movie, "Rocky" as it is the property of John G. Avildsen and Sylvester Stallone. I also do not own "Fairy Tail" as that happens to be the property of Hiro Mashima.
Notice: This is another idea that was suggested to me by fantasyandromancelover, which will star Gajeel as Rocky and Levy as Adrian. If you want to know who else will be who, you'll just have to see as the story unfolds.
Chapter 1
It was the year 1975 in the state of Philadelphia. Many people were gathered at a small joint called the Blue Door Fight Club. Though it wasn't boxing like the ones you see on TV, many who couldn't afford to watch the fight got some action at the club. Even big shot managers would drop by once in a while to look for the next boxer.
The club itself resembles a large unemptied trash-can. The boxing ring is extra small to ensure constant battle. The lights overhead have barely enough wattage to see who is fighting.
In the ring are two heavyweights, one was a white American guy and the other, he was half-Japanese and half-American. The Japanese-American man was named Gajeel Redfox, a young buck in his 20's. His face was scarred and had a cut across his nose. He had long spiky black hair. Gajeel fights in a plodding, machine-like style. The white fighter dances and bangs combinations into Gajeel's face with great accuracy. But the punches do not even cause Gajeel to blink. He grins at his opponent and keeps grinding ahead.
The people at ringside sit on folding chairs and clamor for blood. They lean out of their seats and heckle the fighters. Everyone is hustling bets. The action is even heavier on the balcony. A housewife yells for somebody to cover a 20 dollar bet.
The bell rings and the fighters return to their corners. Somebody heaves a beer can into the ring.
In Gajeel's corner he is being assisted by a shriveled, balding cornerman, who is an employee of the club. He works on Gajeel without any enthusiasm.
"You're waltzing," the corner man told him. "Give the suckers some action. You're fighting like a bum."
Gajeel just sneered at the cornerman and replied, "Just shut up and give me some water. If I want your advice, I'll be sure to take it from a donkey." The cornerman merely rolled his eyes as he let Gajeel sip some water.
A fight fan rushed up to Gajeel and said, "Hey, Gajeel, should I bet the fight doesn't go up to 3 rounds? You feel strong?"
Gajeel grinned. "Just who do you think you're talking to. I can keep this fight going all day. Mr. Tough Guy over there looks like he's getting tired."
Once Gajeel felt he was rested enough, the bell rang and Gajeel and the American fighter got back up for some more action.
The fighters engage in battle. The American fighter grabs Gajeel in a clinch and purposely butts him. That low blow opens a bleeding cut on the corner of Gajeel's right eye.
Gajeel becomes furious over that cheap shot and drives a flurry into the man's body. Gajeel slams the man on the jaw and the fighter is out for the night. The fans throw rubbish into the ring. Gajeel ignores it.
The fans loudly go about collecting bets. The referee does not bother to even count the fighter out and drags him under the ropes where he is placed on a stretcher. Two new fighters enter the ring. Gajeel slips on a black robe and on the back it reads in big white words, "Black Steel", the name he was given whenever he fights in the ring.
"Winner, Gajeel Redfox!" the announcer shouted.
Knowing he was done for tonight, Gajeel climbs out of the ring. Some of these fight fans didn't think the fight wasn't a fair one and accused Gajeel of cheating.
The housewife in the crowd shouted, "You fight like a bum!"
"Shut up and go piss on yourself!" Gajeel shouted back as he headed back into the locker room.
Gajeel gets all dressed up, wearing white pants, black boots, a black shirt along with a black leather jacket. He had some chains hanging down from the two sides of his jacket. He sat down in the locker room waiting when the promoter came in to give Gajeel his cut of what he earned tonight as the winner.
"Yo, Redfox, here's your share tonight as the winner, a total of $40.00," the promoter told him.
Gajeel sighed with frustration. It wasn't what he was expecting since not many people would bet he would win. Many betted against him and knew the ones that betteed he would win were his neighbors and friends. It may not be much, but Gajeel figured it was better than nothing.
"When do I fight again?" Gajeel asked.
"Maybe in two weeks," the promoter replied. "Give me a call. The doctor should be in to check up on you in 20 minutes."
After the doctor confirmed that Gajeel will be able to still fight again, he decided to head home.
Gajeel walked south in what appeared in the slum part of the neighborhood. It wasn't exactly the best place to live in, but it was all he could afford at the moment. He worked for some sleazy loan shark as a debt collector who only paid him enough to feed himself and took the job boxing at the club to earn more money.
He passed right by the pet store and saw the puppies looking at him, wagging their tails with happiness. Despite Gajeel's tough exterior, he was a big softy and even the puppies knew it. Gajeel merely smiled at them.
A short while later, Gajeel approaches his apartment located in the most deprived section of South Philly. He kicks away the litter that has gathered against the apartment steps and goes inside to relax.
