The USS Voyager is chasing the Maquis ship Val Jean as they approach the Badlands. Voyager is rapidly closing on Val Jean.

"Maquis ship, this is Captain Janeway of the Federation Starship Voyager, thank you for the chase but the game is up. Prepare to surrender and be boarded."

Meanwhile on Val Jean Chakotay said to Torres

"Any ideas B'Elanna?"

"Lets not give up just yet, these Badlands can be a tricky place to navigate, let's see how fast this reconditioned Warp Drive can go."

Before she could accelerate away the Val Jean started to lose power.

"Oh no, warp core breach in 1 minute, there's nothing I can do about it."

"Chakotay to Voyager. Mayday, mayday, we have an imminent warp core breach. Requesting immediate transportation for my crew, we surrender."

Five minutes later the survivors of Val Jean had all beamed over to the Voyager cargo bay and Voyager was warping away from the expanding cloud of debris that was the Maquis ship.

Captain Janeway entered the cargo bay and spoke to the Maquis crew.

"Welcome on board the Federation Starship Voyager, I am Captain Janeway. Do any of you need medical attention?"

Janeway's face then broke out into a smile as she saw an old friend.

"It's good to have you back, Mister Tuvok."

Tuvok then spoke to Chakotay "I must inform you that I was assigned to infiltrate your crew, sir. I am Captain Janeway's Chief of Security."

"Were you going to deliver us into their waiting hands, Vulcan?"

"My mission was to accumulate information on Maquis activities, and then deliver you into their hands. That is correct."

Torres then said "I always had a bad feeling about you Mister Tuvok."

"Now now B'Elanna, the Vulcan was doing his duty as a Starfleet officer."

Janeway then spoke

"Yes Chakotay, Tuvok was doing his duty as a Starfleet officer, just as you once did before you left for The Maquis. Why did you do it?"

"I had my reasons."

"You were a fine officer Chakotay, I would have been very lucky to have an officer like you serving with me. Who knows, in another place and time we could have served together….."
