Tickets for Eddie's concert chapter 1
It's 9 a.m. the phones are ringing and things are buzzing in Jake and Kelly's Madsen's office. Most of the noise is coming from Jake and Kelly's twins Eric and Ethan, they're 2 years old. Jake and Kelly are the biggest managing team in the L.A area, their biggest client is 24-year-old Eddie Duran, Son of the well-known Max and Katy Duran.
"Did you call the agency again?" Jake asks.
"No, I give up, I want a college girl, these two have the energy only a college student can handle. I called the offices at UCLA and left a message with the director. I think they have plenty of girls who will apply for the job." Kelly adds.
"I hope so, we're trying to get some work done while these two run back and forth, it isn't going too well. Eddie will be signing some endorsement contracts, when he walks in, take them upstairs."
She smiles. "I will honey, I promise."
At UCLA, the day has come to an end for several of the students exiting the school. One of them is Loren Tate, 21-year-old junior student majoring in law. She's heads to her car with her two best friends Melissa Sanders and Adam Miller.
"Are you headed to the coffee shop?" Mel asks Loren.
"No, they cut my hours, I need to work more hours, I need to earn more, my mom is working enough hours to get me through school."
"You did get the scholarships."
"I'm grateful for those, but, I have other expenses, I can't expect my mother to cover them all."
Adam's listening, he takes a piece of paper out of his pocket. "Here Loren, I think you could use this more than my sister."
She takes the paper from his hand. "What is it?"
"I was in the office this morning, while I checked with my counselor I overheard the director tell the teachers there's a job available as a nanny or babysitter, maybe you can look into it."
Mel laughs. "You mean for Loren? Yeah right!"
"Hey, I'm good with kids, what makes you think I can't handle this?"
"I can't picture you doing it." Mel teases.
"Why because I'm an only child?" Loren adds.
Mel rolls her eyes; she hugs her best friend. "Oh come on, kids are a handful, look for something else."
She looks at Adam. "Thank you, if the pay is good, you're looking at the next best nanny in L.A."
"I'm sure you can handle it Loren, don't listen to Mel." Adam says, Mel punches him.
All three walk towards the coffee shop. Loren sighs. "Coffee is a good idea before we start our assignments."
"Did you see if there are any tickets available for Eddie Duran's concert?" Loren asks Mel.
"No, only the front row, they're expensive."
Loren takes a sip of her coffee. "I guess it's back to listening to his music on my iPod, I will never get to see Eddie Duran up close, let alone meet him."
"Have you seen his latest photo shoot? Omg, he's gorgeous." Mel says
Adam smiles. "Oh boy, here we go again, the two of you will talk non-stop about Eddie Duran."
"You know I've loved him the moment I heard his first song on the radio." Loren sighs.
Mel dances while she walks on the sidewalk. "He was 18, remember Lo?"
"Ok guys, see you later, got to head home and start on that essay, call the number to see what the job consists of." Loren heads to her car.
Mel and Adam cross the street and wave to her. "Tell me all about it the moment you know something, Adam's driving me home!" Mel says.
"I will Mel, I promise."
Loren's home, her mom is still at work, she heads to her room, she takes the piece of paper out of her pocket, and grabs her cell phone. She makes the call and waits for someone to answer.
"Madsen Agency, Kelly speaking."
"Hi I'm Loren Tate, calling about the babysitting job."
"Omg, I'm so glad to hear that, when can you come to interview?"
"I don't have classes tomorrow."
"Great, I'll see you here at noon."
"Can I have the address?" Loren asks.
"It's 2900 Sunset Blvd."
"OK, I'll see you tomorrow at noon, who should I ask for?"
"You can ask for me, Kelly Madsen, we're on the 10th floor."
"Great, see you then." Loren hits the end button, she smiles. Maybe just maybe this job will pay enough, she will be able to drop the coffee shop job, anything to help her mom with her college expenses. Loren's computer buzzes, she smiles, she's sure it's Mel, she's intrigued about the nanny job.
Loren opens her computer. "Hey Mel."
"Did you call? What happened?"
"I have an interview at noon tomorrow."
"How far do you have to go?"
"Kelly said to go to Sunset Blvd."
Mel furrows her eyebrows. "Wait Sunset Blvd, what's the address?"
Loren looks at her. "2900, why?"
Mel falls back on her bed. "Omg, that's Jake Madsen's office building."
"Wait, do you mean, Eddie Duran's manager?"
"Yes it is…omg you might see Eddie."
Loren pulls her hair behind her ears. "I didn't recognize the name."
"Can I come with you?"
"No, I have to go alone, I know you'll flip if we run into Eddie."
"I'll wait somewhere in the building, please let me come."
Loren rolls her eyes. "Ok, you better not embarrass me."
Mel squeals. "I love you Lo, ok, got to go, pick me up at 11:00."
Loren shakes her head and closes her laptop, she hears her mom calling. "I'm home."
She runs out of her room, they hug. "Hi mom, how was your day?"
"Busy, which is good, how was your day?"
"Good, I have a job interview tomorrow."
Nora puts her things down and turns towards her daughter. "Really, where at?"
"It's either a nanny job or babysitting, don't know yet, it's for Jake Madsen."
Nora narrows her eyes. "Why does that sound familiar, and why are you smiling?"
"Mom, its Eddie Duran's manager!"
Nora laughs. "Oh boy, does this mean you might meet the one and only Eddie Duran?"
"I might, I'm so excited."
"Back to reality sweetie, this is Eddie Duran the huge Rock star, he's dating remember?"
"Don't burst my bubble mom, I know who he is, I know he's in love, the thought of seeing him gives me butterflies, I've been a fan since he sang his first hit 6 years ago, I haven't been able to attend any of his concerts, maybe a smile from him is all I need."
Nora notices how much her daughter loves Eddie; she hugs her. "I'm sorry sweetie; I didn't mean to burst your bubble."
Loren hugs her back. "Thanks mom."
It's morning, Loren fell asleep in her bed with her books and notebooks open. Nora peeks in and smiles. "Sweetie, you fell asleep surrounded by your books again."
Loren wakes up and pushes her books to the side. "I'm going to shower; I have to be at my interview by noon."
"I have oatmeal with fruit ready for you."
"Thanks mom." Loren closes the door to the bathroom behind her.
A few hours later…
Loren drives to her interview and parks a block away. "Why so far?"
"There aren't any meters here, who knows how long I'll have to wait."
Mel holds Loren's arm. "Come on, its 11:45 you have to be on time, maybe there are more girls interviewing."
They walk as fast as they can, they find the address; both girls take the elevator to the 10th floor.
Jake's in his office. "These should have been signed yesterday Eduardo."
"I know, rehearsals ran late, I was too tired, I'm here now."
Kelly walks in, she looks at Jake. "The girl is here for the babysitting job; do you want to meet her?"
"Is she the only one that called?"
"Yes, I guess she has the job, I desperately need help with the boys."
"I'll be there as soon as Eddie is done signing the papers." Eddie sits, he gets his pen.
Kelly steps out of the office, she smiles when she sees Loren. "You must be Loren?"
"Yes, nice to meet you, here's my resume."
She hands it to Kelly. "Wow, a high academic achiever, I'm very impressed."
Loren smiles. "Thank you."
"The job consists of you watching my twin boys, I'll need you between 1 and 6, I'll stay with them during the morning, when you get here, I'll come to work, I need you to read to them, take them to the park, give them dinner, they're very good about playing together, my chef will prepare their meals. It pays $300.00 a week."
Loren's eyes widen. "Oh great, does this mean I have the job?"
"Yes, we live upstairs in the penthouse, I'll be around if there's any problems."
"Great, thank you so much." Loren can't stop smiling.
"I want you to meet my husband, he's busy with a client, can you hold on?"
Loren sits back down. "Sure."
Mel walks in. "Did you get the job?"
"I told you to wait outside!"
Kelly smiles when she sees Mel peeking through the door. "It's ok Loren, she can wait with you."
"She's my ride home, sorry didn't mean to intrude." Mel responds biting her lower lip.
The door swings open, and Jake steps out, he's talking to Eddie, Kelly interrupts him. "Honey, I want you to meet Loren, she's the boy's nanny."
Loren stands, her long wavy hair hangs down to her shoulders. She tries to breathe at the sight of Eddie Duran standing next to Jake.
Jake extends his hand. "Hi Loren, it's good to meet you."
She smiles back; her eyes go from Jake's to Eddie's. "Nice to meet you too."
"You tow are very lucky, I'm sure you know Eddie Duran?"
"I know who he is, Hi Eddie, I'm a huge fan, nice to meet you."
Loren's trying to stop her hand from shaking; she extends it towards Eddie.
"Nice to meet you too." He shakes her hand, Loren feels butterflies.
Mel gets up immediately. "I'm Melissa, but, you can call me Mel, nice to meet you too."
Eddie smiles, and notices Loren blushing. " Are you going to my concert this weekend?"
"No, we couldn't get tickets." Mel responds.
Kelly knows why he's asking; he's amazing to his fans.
Kelly opens her drawer and hands Eddie an envelope. "Here, these are for you."
Loren takes the envelope and opens it, she finds two tickets for the front row. Her eyes lit up, she looks at him. "Thank you, you're very kind and generous."
He walks towards the door and winks at them. "See you Saturday."
Mel squeezes Loren's hand, Kelly smiles; she knows this made their day. "See you tomorrow at 1? You can meet my boys then, they're with my mom at the park right now."
"Thanks; nice meeting you Mr. Madsen."
"Thank you Loren, nice meeting you too."
Both girls leave, Mel can't stop jumping. "It's our first concert Loren!"
"Did you see how beautiful he is?" Loren hugs the tickets.
Mel shrugs her shoulders; she knows Loren will never be the same!
