[Mathew Howard POV]
It's been a few days since Riddick, Mike, Dogmeat, and I returned after dealing with the Family matter. We brought with us the coffin of my grandfather, Alucard, to my home and locked it in an empty storage room, and locked the door. The three of us agreed to withhold telling the others for the time being as not to worry them.
Today though, we were all gathered in Moriarty's Saloon upstairs in a private room to discuss a job a client wants us to do. What I didn't know at the time though, was that this job would change my life forever—both for the better and the worst.
[3rd POV]
"Thank you all for coming here today. I'm Marcella, and I am a wandering Missionary." Politely greeted the woman. She was Caucasian, with blue eyes, purple hair done in a bun. She was wearing a bulky black and blue jacket, with blue jeans and black knee-high boots.
"The pleasure's all ours, Miss Marcella. I'm Mathew Howard. If you don't mind me asking, how did you hear of us? As far as I know, we're not a particularly well-known group out here." The young Doctor inquired to the Missionary.
"I was recommended by someone to your group. They said that you could help me with a very important matter on my behalf." Informed Marcella.
"All right then, what's the job?" Matthew inquired once more.
Marcella looked around, making sure no one else is listening, and leaned forward and whispered, " I have in my possession a book of the most unholy of origins, and I want you to destroy it."
"… you hiring us to destroy a book." Matthew said in disbelief.
"Yes, but it's not just any book. The Blackhall family owned this particular book from before the Great War, and I believe that the Blackhall's used it to make deals with a supernatural entity of some sort, but that is all I know. But what I do know is what I saw, that a group of cultists performing ritual sacrifices, chanting in some pagan language the likes of which I never heard of before, and the screams of their unfortunate victims. I was almost sacrificed myself, but I managed to escape from them and stole their book. That was when I met with a man called Obadiah Blackhall and demanded that the book be returned to him. But I knew that this book had to be destroyed; thus I refused and fled my way here." Explained Marcella.
Intrigued, Riddick coolly asked, "I don't imagine that Mr. Blackhall was too pleased with that?"
Shaking her head, Marcella said, "He wasn't; the man placed a bounty on my head after I left him, and I've been chased by his mercs ever since. I am certain that I will die before I can destroy the book, so now your group is my only hope of getting rid of this cursed book."
"Why not just burn the book now and be done with it?" questioned Matthew.
Shaking her head once again, Marcella told the group, "I would if it was any ordinary book, but it seems to be protected by some kind of unnatural force. Through an individual with knowledge of such matters, I learned that it must be destroyed at a certain place. That individual was actually the one who recommended you all in the first place."
Thinking for a moment, Matthew asked the woman, "Can my group talk about this for a moment please?" Marcella nodded and went to the far side of the room to avoid listening on the group, reading a bible she brought with her.
Forming a circle, Matthew told the group, "This gig just reeks of trouble. A cursed book, a family with a dark secret, some kind of cult? Anyone else thinks the lady might be out of her mind?" asked the kid, clearly not believing in what the Missionary was saying.
Clover and Jericho nodded in agreement, not buying it for a second. However, the rest didn't dismiss her so easily.
"Over a week ago you saw a homeless mad man floating in the air, shooting lightning out of his hand, spewing complete nonsense out of his mouth. A cursed book isn't the wildest thing I ever seen or dealt with." Deadpanned Carver, the resident psychic, with the other two super soldiers nodding in agreement.
Finally, it was Mike who spoke next, "My sensors have detected no known lies in her statement; either she is telling what she believes is the truth, or is traumatized by the present circumstances that has lead her here. There is also the matter of the mercenaries after her to take into consideration. It appears that she is at the end of her rope, and the destruction of this book might bring her some measure of peace. There is also a small chance that the destruction of the book might make the bounty placed on her to be taken down, sparing her life."
"Or it could make Mr. Blackhall really pissed at us and have bounties placed on our own heads as well; it just too dangerous for us." Stated Matthew, worried for the group's safety.
"I suggest that we put it to a vote to settle the matter, yay to do the job, nay to refuse it." Said Dan, the rest of the group agreeing to it.
In the end, the vote went with three nays and four yays. So, with great reluctance, Matthew went to Marcella and told her that they'd take the job.
"Thank you, the place you need to go to is underneath the Dunwich Building. I'll mark its location on your map. Here's a 1,000 caps in advance. May God be with you on your journey, your going to need it." Said Marcella, handing Matthew the book before she left the room.
As the group reached the saloon downstairs, they heard a gunshot outside and a loud thud following shortly after.
Pulling out his Pistol, Matthew rushed outside and saw Marcella lying down on the ground, blood rapidly pooling around her, her eyes closed. Above her body stood a group of three mercenaries armed with pistols and submachine guns.
Thinking quickly, Matthew open fired on the merc's and killed one and wounding another. However, the merc with the smg fired and hit Matthew in the torso, knocking him back to the ground, the body armor protecting him. Before the remaining mercs could finish off Matthew, Lucas Simms, the town's sheriff, snuck up behind the two and opened fire on them, killing them both.
The sheriff then checked on the woman and saw a hole where her heart was, the shot killing her instantly. The rest of Matthew's group rushed out of the saloon and tended to the winded but very alive Matthew, each one grimly realizing that this job wouldn't be like the others before.
After informing the sheriff what happened and gathering supplies, the group treks out into the wasteland towards their destination. The mood was grim after the cruel fate of the unfortunate missionary. At the lead of the group led by Riddick, Clover, and Dogmeat, scouting out the terrain and watching out for threats. In the center lay Jericho, Carver, and Matthew, carrying the supplies and the 'cursed' book given by the late Marcella. At the rear end of the group, Mike and Dan served as the rearguard in case anything attacked the group from behind.
"… so how are you today?" asked Dan a little awkwardly, breaking the tense silence between the two.
"Aside from the unfortunate fate of Miss. Marcella, I'm doing fine, you?" quired Mike.
"Oh, uh, i-I'm fine as well." Stuttered Dan, not knowing how to really break the ice with Mike.
After a moment of silence, Mike asked, "Have you and Matthew come to speaking terms again?"
Sighing, Dan replied, "Not really, he still upset with me after…well…"
"After you shot me in the back." Mike bluntly finished, with no malice in his words.
"…Yes." Dan said awkwardly.
"… You care about Matthew, right?" questioned Mike.
"Yeah, I do. I consider him to be someone who needs to be protected." Responded Dan.
"So do I as well, Lieutenant Dan. I have dedicated four years of our time together in keeping him safe. Matthew and I have grown quite close to one another to the point we each consider each other to be brothers. When we first met you and your group and accepted your offer to assist him in finding his father, he trusted you, and when you shot me, you betrayed that trust. If you wish to regain his trust again, then you must understand and respect Matthew's decisions. He is young and inexperienced to the world, yes, but he isn't an idiot either. You do not have to like his choices, but you must respect them and trust in what he is doing. Do you understand this, Lieutenant?" explained Mike.
"…Yes, I do." Answered Dan.
"Then let the two of us make a deal; in the event I become a clear and present danger to the wellbeing of Matthew, you'll have permission to destroy me and take over my duties of keeping him safe. Is this deal agreeable to you?" questioned Mike.
"Yes, it is." Agreed Dan, shaking hands with Mike, gaining a bit of respect for him in the process.
After another moment of silence, Mike asked, "So what can you tell me about that Plasma Gun? I have never seen that design before."
"Oh, this? It's a Russ patterned plasma gun, designed by Tirsiak Russ, daughter of Leman Russ. The base model is designed similarly to the Mark 6 Sunwolf, but certain additions are made. Firstly, there's a slack in the back that is very similar to the standard-issue lasgun used by the imperial guard. Secondly, there is the power cell, roughly a foot long and angled at a 60-degrees, holding about 60 or so shots worth before requiring to be replaced with another. Thirdly is a side-mounted rail that I prefer to use myself, though it isn't a required part of the weapon. Lastly is its most important feature though, selective firing modes. Typically, plasma guns only have two firing modes, semi-auto and a charged shot. But with this plasma gun, that's not the case; it has not only the aforementioned modes but also burst and full-auto fire as well. It also has a charged grenade node with a blast range of 4 meters and a flamethrower mode with a range of 6 meters." Proudly explained Dan, clearly loving his weapon.
"Are there any downsides to it?" inquired Mike.
"Sadly, yes there is. See, the weapon only effective at mid-to-close range engagements. And when in anything other than semi-auto mode, it tends to quickly overheat the gun, with the flamethrower mode completely draining the cell and overheating the weapon after 5 seconds of continuous use. The internal mechanisms of the weapon uses xeno's technology to even function, so many forge worlds refuse to even make them at all. So far, the only ones to have access to the weapon would be the Space Wolves, who are supplanting their typical bolters for this weapon. My chapter only manage to acquire these weapons by a chance run-in with a company of Space Wolves." Explained the Lieutenant, disappointed that it isn't more widely used.
After the discussion, the two fell into a comfortable silence on the way to their destination.
Meanwhile, at the center of the group, a more lighthearted discussion was taking place.
"Do I really need a new set of clothes; these work fine as it is." Complained Matthew, annoyed at the talk taking place.
"Kid, you look like a fucking weirdo in that damn getup. You need something that makes you look like a local. A vault jumpsuit, a lab coat, and a ballistics vest, does not look local, period." Argued Jericho, with Carver nodding along in agreement.
Finally admitting defeat, Matthew sighed and said, "Fine, I get a change in clothes when we get back into town, alright. Anyway, Jericho, what do you know about this Dunwich place?" questioned Matthew to the ex-raider.
"Supposedly, the whole fuck'en place haunted, or at least that's what everyone and their pussy for mother tells me. What I do know is the damn place is filled with rotting ass feral ghouls running around, so we can expect to be swarmed up to asses in rotten flesh when fighting breaks out." stated Jericho.
"Then in that instance, we'll have Riddick, Carver, Mike, and Dan take the lead, and the rest of us hangs back to provide fire support." Matthew said, laying out a plan of attack when the group reaches Dunwich. Matthew learned a few simple tactics from Dan before the incident with Mike.
"Seems as good a plan we'll getting." Spoke Carver.
The group finally reaches the infamous Dunwich building, staring at it with apprehension about whatever force awaits them inside. After each member says a small prayer to their respective deities for luck, they enter the building, with Carver taking the lead.
The building inside was old and decrepit, the lights dead after a century of disuse. All was eerily quiet; the only noise being made is the sound of their footsteps echoing throughout the dead halls. As they passed after hall after hall, they occasionally come across a holotape of a Jamie Palabras, who left recordings of him trying to find his dad. But the deeper they go, the more holotapes of Jamie's descent towards madness; they begin to realize that the missionary was probably not full of it, and this place really was hiding something that can only be described as evil.
When they finally reach the basement, they take a small break to regain their courage, say another prayer to their gods again, and head down into the darkness.
As soon as they reach the bottom of the stairs and enter a rocky cavern, they were assaulted by a hoard of feral ghouls coming out of the darkness. The group quickly gets into formation and fights back against the ravenous hoard, swiftly destroying them with little effort. Dan takes the lead and uses his flamethrower mode on his gun, and sweeps a deadly path through the seemingly endless hoard, the others covering him as he reloads.
Finally, they approach a strange obelisk at the end of the cave, a ghoul speaking in some strange tongue that none of them could understand. But they did know one thing, the ghoul was not happy with their presence and had no intentions of letting them leave this cave alive. They quickly opened fire upon the mutant, but it summoned a wall of inky blackness, absorbing all their combined weapons fire.
Thinking quickly, Carver uses the powers of the warp to shroud Riddick, Dogmeat, Clover, and himself and snuck around him, while the others kept the mutant distracted. As the four were within striking distance, though, the ghoul suddenly summoned a tentacle and slammed it against Clover and Riddick, incapacitating them from the fight. Dogmeat swiftly ran at the mutant and bit his arm, tackling the ghoul to the ground; Carver rushed up and rammed his sword into the mutant, finally killing it.
After taking a small break to recover and catch their breaths from the harrowing battle, Matthew took the cursed book and placed it onto the altar, ready to destroy it. As the book burst into flames, an inky black arm burst out of the obelisk and grabbed the young doctor, who yelled in terror.
With a burst of speed, Mike raced towards Matthew, attempting to rescue him, but it was too late. By the time Mike's outreached arm was a hair's breadth from Matthew's hand, the darkness swiftly swallowed him. As soon as Matthew vanished into the obelisk, the entire cavern shook violently, rock tumbling down around them.
Thinking quickly, the space marines took the others into their arms and made a mad dash out of the cavern, up the stairs, and through the halls as the building crumbles and collapses around them. Riddick shoulder bashes through a wall, and the light of the outside world blinds everyone. As they lay down on the ground beside the fallen building, they catch their breaths.
But their victory is bittersweet. Matthew was gone.
Meanwhile, in an unknown place, in an unknown time, Matthew wakes up with a startling gasp.
Looking around franticly, he saw before him a massive corpse of some ghastly creature a few meters away from him. The only thing he could really make out of it was it containing hundreds of lifeless eyes covering its body. Taking stock of where he was, Matthew notices he was lying on a pool of water, not in it, going on endlessly into the horizon. He looked up and noticed a pale-blood moon hanging over the sky, thousands upon thousands of stars watching over him.
"Why hello there my dear sir, fancy a little nap now, did you?" spoke an unfamiliar British voice.
Swiftly getting onto his feet, Matthew quickly turned to the mysterious voice, seeing two men at a table, complete with a tea set beside them. One was sitting in a chair, wearing Victorian-era clothing, complete with a tri-cone hat. The man looked young, around his mid-twenties, ashen white hair poking out from under the hat, a mask covering his face, playfully waving his hand at me, cheer in his cool silver eyes. The other man was standing beside the other and was wearing a 1920's style trench coat, a fedora covering his head, covering his eyes.
Unsure what to do, Matthew Shakely waves back and says, "H-h-hi?"
The masked man smiles behind his mask, and opens his arms widely to welcome the scared young doctor and says, "Well don't be a stranger, please, come over and have a cup of tea with us!"
Matthew silently walks over to the two strangers and takes a seat at the table, and hesitantly asks, "I-i-i-i'm Matthew H-h-Howard, who are you two, and w-w-where am we?"
"Why I'm the Good Hunter my friend, and tall and gloomy here is the Mysterious Stranger. Don't mind him; he's not much of a talker." Excitedly says the Good Hunter. "Tea?" the Hunter asks Matthew.
"Uh, s-s-sure, thank you." Accepting a cup of tea and taking a drink to calm his very frayed nerves.
"Well you were quite lucky that we were around, or you would have met with quite a grisly fate with that beast over there." Pointed out the Hunter as he gestured towards the dead creature.
"Wait, that was you?!" loudly exclaimed Matthew, shocked at the news.
"Yes, quite so. Unfortunately, it wasn't entirely by chance you arrived here, so we must skip straight to business." Stated the Good Hunter.
"… Huh?" asked a perplexed Matthew.
"I was the one who recommended Marcella to your group's services." Explained the Good Hunter.
"… why?" questioned Matthew.
"Why to facilitate the events necessary for us to meet, of course, as well to give you a few gifts to aid you on your journey." Said the Good Hunter.
"Why should I trust you?" asked Matthew, suspicious at the man.
The Good Hunter paused, thought for a moment, and asked, "Have you ever seen Doctor Who?"
"The TV show? Yeah, I did. What, you saying we met before and this the first time I met you but not for you? That somewhere down the line when I met you, it'll be the first time you'll meet me? Stated Matthew, dismissive at the idea.
"Yes, it's exactly like that." The Good Hunter said confidently.
"… just get on with it then." Said Matthew, simply done with all the non-sense happening.
"Right, first off, here's an 'iPhone'; consider it an interdimensional helpline for when you are truly in over your head." Said the Good Hunter, handing a phone to the young Doctor and explaining what it is to him.
"Duke Nukem?" asked Matthew.
"It simply took FOREVER to get ahold of him." Stated the Good Hunter.
"Lao Wang?" questioned Matthew.
"Quite a smart Alec but very good at what he does." Explained the Good hunter.
"Simon Bukner?" queried Matthew.
"A necromancer of formidable power and the first human whole battled against the forces of hell back in World War One." Said the Good Hunter.
"… Doom Slayer?" Matthew puzzled.
"… He is someone who excels at fighting demons, and ONLY demons. He's not a man to be bothered with unless ABSOLUTELY necessary." The Good Hunter said, any humor gone from his voice, stressing the fact that he was a call of last resort.
Wide-eyed and terrified, Matthew asks, "I assume I'll be able to call you as well?"
"Oh of course, you can call me any time you want." Spoke the Good Hunter, mischief back in his voice. "Oh, and I have also given you two new companion to follow you on your journey, the stranger here takes a special interest in individuals such yourself and helps them out whenever he is needed, though he will come and go as he pleases, while the other will be your new bodyguard of sorts to you, I explained the situation to him so he should make much of a fuss." And then snaps his fingers.
"AAAAAAAAAAHHH?!" screamed a very startled man as he fell through a portal appearing in the air, startling Matthew as he jumped in his chair in absolute shock. The man landed with an oof and groaned in pain and said, "I thought you said those things were safe, you dick?"
Matthew thought to himself, the groaning man looked military, as the man was wearing a combat vest, with an urban BDU underneath it, and wearing a camouflage helmet with a gas mask. The soldier picked himself up and walked over to the group, a slight limp in his step due to the fall. The Good Hunter then spoke, "May I proudly present onto you the illustrious Adrian Shephard of the H.E.C.U. Marines."
Adrian then stood beside Matthew, held out his hand to the young doctor, and said, "Sup, how are you?" Matthew shook Adrian's hand and replied, "I-i-I'm Matthew Howard, I-i-is this a normal thing here?" said a perplexed boy.
"In general, maybe, for me, regrettably yes." Explained Shepard, sympathetic to Matthew's nervousness about the situation.
The Good Hunter then clapped his hands and said, "Now that we have our introductions out of the way, time for a little history lesson to catch you up to speed." And with another snap of his fingers, everyone was moved to a lecture room with a large projector screen.
Adrian took the abrupt change in scenery in stride, while Matthew was becoming increasingly startled the longer this went on. The Soldier put his hand on the Doctor's shoulder and said, "Trust me when I say that it's only going to get more weird from here on out, so it's best if you deal with it as we move along." Calming the frazzled boy.
"Now then, the projector behind me will display a series of images as I go over briefly over humanity's history; I'm going to unfortunately have to skip some specifics for the sake of time, not that time really matters here in the first place, but I digress." Spoke the Good Hunter before he turned around to the screen and continued to speak.
"It all started in the 3rd millennium; In the year 2003, the planet Earth was invaded by an alien regime known only as the Combine, where they conquered the entire world in a mere 7 hours and proceeded to harvest everything of value to them. They drained the oceans, took most of the wildlife, and slaughtered a large majority of all native inhabitants who call Earth their home. That was how humanity learned that they were not alone in the universe, and that it was a very hostile one at that. However, humanity wasn't the only sentient species who lived on earth; a mostly female species of creatures also came out from hiding due to the Combine invasion. Surprisingly the two species got along surprisingly well, and humanity took to calling the other race 'monster girls' due to the fact they resemble many of once thought of mythological creatures. Regrettably, due to being under an oppressive alien regime, those good feelings were a bit soured. It especially didn't help that the Combine started implementing a sterilization field across the planet to prevent any and all breeding, meaning that the then-current generation of Earthlings would be the last, ever. Instead of simply waiting for their complete annihilation at the hands of the Combine, however, humanity and the monster girls teamed up with another alien race known as the Vortigaunts, another slave race oppressed by the Combined, and decided to take their own fate into their own hands, choosing to rather die free than be slaves to the Combine. Eventually, they succeeded and drove the Combine off their world and won their freedom, but that's not all. Through an event known only as, The Miracle, the people of earth regained the ability to produce children, so they did what anyone would do, REPOPULATE!" explained the Good Hunter before continuing.
"So, the people of earth experience a time of tremendous peace and technological advancement, such so that they were able to repair the damage the Combine did to the earth itself entirely, unfortunately again, earth was invaded by ANOTHER alien empire, and conquered the people of earth, though it took significantly longer this time around, again. At least with this one, they had the decency to pretend that it was a beneficial relationship between the alien empire known as Advent and the people of earth. But once again, the people of earth united, rebelled, and drove the alien empire off earth, again. But the alien foot soldiers also rebelled against Advent, due to themselves also being slaves under their regime and grown quite fond of earth and its inhabitants, so they decided to stay and become citizens of earth." The Good Hunter said before continuing with the history lesson.
"Eventually, the good people of earth created starships capable of traveling to other worlds themselves and colonized Mars. However, it was not at all peaceful, some corporate organization called the Ultor Corporation started abusing and experimenting on their employees, and so a rebel group called Red Faction rose and completely destroyed the company; earth forces came in to try and find a peaceful solution to the situation, but some military blow hards mucked it upped, and Mars succeeded from earth, and the two worlds were on very bad terms with one another. Mars became a blood-soaked battlefield with the rise and fall of many factions, but the most important ones are the Red Faction, White Faction, and the Marauders. It wasn't until the 4th Millennium that everything changed for humanity. When the people of the Sol system were once again visited by an alien outsider. But this time, the visitor came in peace and brought a wealth of knowledge. This being would later be known as the Traveler, and its arrival would change everything. The two worlds who once feuded with each other were reunited, and the sol system experienced a time of peace the likes of which were never experienced before. Lifespans tripled, worlds were being colonized, and all past grudges and feuds were forgiven and forgotten. It was truly a golden age for the people of the sol system." Said the Good Hunter, then continued with the story.
"However, the Traveler had an enemy, known only as The Darkness, its power so immense; it makes chaos look like a candle against a sun in comparison. But the people of sol came up with a plan; if they could not fight off this Darkness, they would evacuate as many people out of the system as possible. Thus began the Exodus Program, and luckily for the people of sol, it worked. The colony ships escaped the Darkness and scattered themselves across the universe, colonizing worlds and exploring the universe. But that's all I have time for at the moment. Unfortunately, I'll have to tell you more about the universe at a much later date." Finished the Good Hunter before he Snaped his fingers and sent his two guests away.
"AAAAAAAHHH!" screamed two men as they fell to the ground from a black inky portal a few meters off the ground. As the two groaned from their rough landing, they looked around and saw a few meters away from them, Matthews group staring at them in disbelief. Mike then suddenly shouted, "MATTHEW!" and flew towards the soldier and young Doctor.
Picking himself up, Matthew dusted himself and asked, "So what happened to you guys?" still wrapping his head as to what just happened.
"We all thought you were dead, where were you, and who is he?" questioned Mike, just noticing Shephard as the rest of the group came over and checked Matthew over for any injuries.
"That's what I want to know as well, boy." Spoke a voice full of venom.
The group turned to face the voice and saw an old man. He was going bald, with whatever remaining hair going grew with age, his face wrinkled from age. He wore a set of pre-war casual clothes, but the most important detail the group noticed was that he wasn't alone. Surrounding the old man stood a guard of 30 mercs, wearing black combat armor and armed with laser rifles, assault rifles, shotguns, a flamethrower, minigun, and a rocket launcher. None of them looked pleased to see the group before them.
Matthew was the first to find his voice and said, "Mr. Blackhall, I presume?" the old man nodded, Matthew continued. "You're going to kill us now, aren't you?" the old man nodded again.
"… can I make a quick call before your friends here kill us?" requested Matthew, a plan already forming in his head. The old man cocked his head to the side, thinking for a moment, then nodded to let the boy make a phone call, thinking nothing of it.
Matthew quickly pulled out his phone, calling the Good Hunter, "This is the Good Hunter calling, do you need something?" the Good Hunter Said coyly, already know who was calling and what he was asking.
"Can you come over and pull my butt out of the fire, please?" politely but hurriedly asked a panicking Matthew.
"Certainly, I'll be there in a moment." The Good Hunter cheerfully said and hung up.
Suddenly a black portal opened up between the two groups, as the Good Hunter rose from the inky blackness, carrying a saw cleaver in one hand and a silver lever-action shotgun in the other. Riddick and Dan looked at the figure before them with wide eyes and shouted simultaneously, "ITS YOU!"
Matthew rounded on the two and bewilderedly said, "Wait, you two know this guy!?"
"He's the one who brought us to this world!" shouted Dan, in disbelief at what he was seeing before him.
At that moment, the Hunter dashed towards the mercenaries and swiftly but brutally tore them to pieces, the mercs screaming in terror, pain, and agony. Matthew watched the carnage quietly; their jaws dropped as they could only stare in horror at the slaughter before them. Jericho was the first to find his voice and said, "Man, you guys get into more crazy shit than me and my 6th wife."
"Y-y-yeah." Matthew dumbly said, before realizing what Jericho said, and exclaimed, "WAIT, WHAT THE FLARK?!"
Authors Notes
Man, this took a while to get this one done.
Now we have the backstory of this universe; I believe it's safe to say that this story will be very AU. A small spoiler for the series going on is that Terra is not Earth, and the Imperium still has a million worlds under its banner, but only controls 10% of the universe, in my story at least. Let me know what you guys think about it.
Now onto the plasma gun; the idea behind it was to make what was basically a plasma ak-47. To anyone who wants to complain that it's too overpowered, it's Warhammer, almost everything is overpowered, and I did mention weakness.
As for who Tirsiak Russ is, she the wolf girl with antlers in the game Spooky's House of Jump Scares. I'll go into more detail about her later when it becomes more relevant to the story. Let's just say that she's more serious and smarter than her father in this story and leave it at that.
The phone I gave to Matthew was inspired by Yakuza: Like a Dragon; I just expanded it.
Also, a serious question, in the event I don't complete or abandoned this story, do you guys want me to post another fic called spoilers and reveal all I had planned for the series, or would you rather be kept in the dark? Please leave your response in the review.
Edit: I have changed the beginning of the timeline from 2nd to 3rd millennium, the good hunters eyes from blue to silver, and italicized Matthews thoughts.
Thank you for reading, and please follow, favorite, and review.
Have a nice day.
Edit: I made a few minor changes.
